How about a 2 player run? Because this is what you will see someday by me and Genisto.

Personally, I prefer battletoads & double dragon to battlemaniacs. Way better graphics, and better potential combos between the two as well. But whatever the authors prefer.

Yeah, but Battlemaniacs is harder, since it sticks more to the "variety show with instant-death obstacles scattered everywhere" of the Btoads series. In fact, now that I think about it, Battlemaniacs is pretty much a shorter, revamped clone of the NES game...though BM only has half the amount of levels, they all have counterparts in the NES game...

Im starting a Run of Battletoads for the Snes. Ive managed so far to have a total completion of the game with no continues. Any pointers to help would be swell.

i think you need to make it 2 players. because phil and genisto will make it (or maybe just phil) a 2 players run, and 2 players > 1 player

so very true FODA.. But i really dont have a partner. This is how im working now. Level 1: I get hit once when the 3 Dark Purple pigs come at you at once. Other then that, Its perfect. Level 2: Perfect. Gain a 1up, no hits. Bonus. Gain 450 Pins. 2 ups. Level 3: Perfect, since you move with the screen. Level 4: Perfect. Level 5: Perfect. Bonus. Gain 450 Dominoes. 2 ups. Level 6: Need work on Not losing lives off getting hit by Arrows. Level 7: Need work on not losing a life. So, Im getting there, just a little work here and there.

not getting hit is not enough, you must make sure its very hard to make it any faster. i advice you to study which types of hits work better, try to hit enemies running from left to right, use frame advance, etc good luck

See Using Emulator Tools on the web site for key bindings. When you're playing back or recording a movie in read/write (not read-only), loading a save-state created from this movie will cause the emulator to switch to record mode and seek to the specified location. This is re-recording. I recommend playing snes9x no faster than 30% speed most of the time, but for real precision, learn to love Frame Advance. Once you get the hang of it, you'll never to back.

Just put up the SMV file in any web space you own. Preferably zip'd to save space. If you don't have any, you can upload it at my hosting script.

Well, if I am to be objective (and possibly a little harsh), I'd say you've got a lot of work to do. You do take hits which seem unnecessary. In fact, you even die during the final battle. You miss a lot of attacks and that slows you down. You also don't do anything particularly interesting. The rerecord counter reads 2. This means you've only loaded state twice in making this video, unless you've edited the SMV by hand. In my Mega Man X run (which is only 2 to 3 minutes longer than yours) I used over 10,000. In less than 5 minutes of playing time Bisqwit used over 4,500. In a time-attack, you don't save-state and redo each level individually. You save-state several times a second if necessary and load any time anything sub-optimal occurs. Don't be discouraged by this daunting task. Your playing suggests you know how to show the game who's boss. Take it to the extreme. Plan out exactly how you're going to smash every single enemy in the most optimal fashion and then carry it out. I don't know anything about this game in particular, so I can't make suggestions for route optimization. Is it possible to skip the bonus levels? Are there glitches you can take advantage of?

This is impressive playing for not using rerecording. However as a timeattack it has a long long way to go. After the original Battletoads they really went downhill. I don't think the gameplay of this one can produce a very entertaining one-player timeattack. I don't think anyone cares how many points you can get in the bonus levels, you should kill yourself to end them as quickly as possible. If you can get through the first fighting level quickly the rest of the game will be almost trivial. Of course it would be great if you could find some sort of glitch or non-obvious route, something to show superhuman playing. The fighting level needs the most work. For starters, you should figure out an attack pattern that at least keeps the boss onscreen. I believe a running sweep attack kills a downed pig in one hit, you should use this to dispatch the porkers much more quickly.

i will record a normal run to give him ideas. its not hard to kill the boss by keeping him on screen even when playing normally

ok i just recorded a battlemaniacs movie which took me exactly 1 hour to do and its 21 minutes long. its still far from being a timeattack. i played most of it on 100% speed, some parts i accelerated, some parts i slowed down to 49% but it has 239 re-records. try to download from here: http://www.angelfire.com/ex/uobt/battletoads-battlemaniacsus26454-fodatest.zip

Yeah.. I might try V4 now. Ill see if i can really shorten up the first round, skip the bonuses, and maybe bring my time down to about 20 minutes. I have no idea of any glitches in this game yet.

I tried to watch it, but ran into some serious desynch-problems. I tried to different (U) -roms, but no luck. Could you please paste the info about the rom you're using?

Use 1.43 Final FODA might be using 1.43 WIP. Maybe that's why it won't play back.
