It seems you pressed Start many times at the very beginning. Are you sure that the frame it actually reacted to your Start was the first possible frame it would react? At frames 1740-1840, I was seeing some lag. Are you sure it's not eliminateable? When getting B, are you sure you couldn't slide over those 2-block wide pits? Overall, I'm not sure whether your slides were always separated by 1 frame. I was seeing 2 frame delays somewhere, but I can't be sure with the Windows version of FCEU. Ignore me if you are sure of this. I would check with Linux version but unfortunately I can't do that before I get back home (in two weeks).

That is correct, but the places were I was able to use the autofire button served me very well.

The problem with autofire is that, when you want this: 200 shoot 201 idle 202 shoot 203 idle 204 shoot 205 idle you might get this: 200 idle 201 shoot 202 idle 203 shoot 204 idle 205 shoot i.e., not shooting at the first possible frame. Also, if the game lags 1 frame at #206, you might want this: 200 shoot 201 idle 202 shoot 203 idle 204 shoot 205 idle 206 idle 207 shoot 208 idle 209 shoot Autofire can't detect when the game lags, and thus, will miss the frame of opportunity by 1 frame.

Well according to my knowledge, I actually did. I did as you all said, used frame advance to try hit the start button soon as possible but I share your concern, because it might be the case that it seems Im 1-3 frames slow to hit the start button but I dont know how I could get those 1-3 frames (if thats even the case) because I pressed so many times the start button and retried so many times and even tried to pick Pharaoh Man faster but it seems (or its my own fault) as if fceu or the rom does not allow me to hit the start button or to pick pharaoh man faster.[/size] At frames 1740-1840, I was seeing some lag. Are you sure it's not eliminateable? Quite sure, and I think kopernical can confirm this. That is true, I was thinking of: 205 idle and 206 idle did actually occured once or twice in my run, so therefore I think I got the best usage of megamans regular buster. Edit: Roger That :)

AngerFist, please use the Preview instead of posting and deleting. Every time you (or anyone) post (or edit a posted message), several people are alarmed of it (IRC people and those who "watch" the topic), and if the post is deleted by the time we try to see it, it's annoying.

Since I've covered basically bisqwits question regarding my current run and nobody seem to have any objections (?) I will go on with my run. Now I know what to do for the second part in Pharaoh Man level, though the question about B raises. Should I use it from here or not? There are 2 problems using it at this stage: 1. The ceiling is a bit tight to use B. 2. finalfighter could get out of that wall trick using "Wire" which I obviously dont have at this stage, so its more or less nothing I can do about it unless the Masterminds of this game can come up with something new that enables Megaman to get out of the wall.

I was wondering one thing about the second stage of Pharaoh Man level. The scene after when you have gotten B, is it possible to use it going through walls by getting hit by the first or second vampire robot or any other of them? Edit: If its possible doing it by the very first vampire, maybe its possible to reach Pharaoh Man within seconds..

It's a hack of Rockman 2. Just do a search for 'Rockman Exile', you'll find it. It's rather impressive, as far as Romhacks go. Nice level editing, and he even inserts music from Gameboy Rockman games. Not to mention the enemy tweaking (just wait until you run into a Hardhat/Metool, oh my GOD). Were rom hacks publishable, this one wouldn't be bad to tackle, though I haven't played through it. I don't know if it suffers from glitchyness so many hacks tend to have.

Technically, it's a hack of Megaman 2 -- there are parts of the text which are unedited (the "weapon get" screens) and it has a difficulty option on the title screen. FCE Ultra handles Rockman Exile without a problem. It does have some nice level editing, and the Metaurs are certainly good for a laugh... but that's about where it ends. The rabbits and dogs from Wood Man's stage? Their attacks are now one-hit kills -- on "normal." Joes throwing the Crash Bomber and Flash Man's behavior... that's classic stuff... I do wish ROM hacks were publishable, as well. This one is done well enough (and is difficult enough) that I think it'd be impressive to see.

I think most ROMhacks are generally less impressive than the original game, if nothing else, because it's not familiar. Any impressive techniques wouldn't even be noticed because most haven't played the game.

Alright lets get down to business. I did my first wall trick :D though I need your help on this. My aim (once I go through the wall) is to get a bit higher but I cannot seem to make it work... And I tried many different approaches to make that vampire stand still but it is sofar unavoidable, he will come for you once you are near him. Edit: Hope the link works, because it looks awkward. Edit 2: I dont understand why I cannot copy and paste the entire link, cause Im doing it but somehow the last bit is not visible. What to do?

Note: Don't change the name of the file on the server, or rather it's not necessary to. All webbrowsers read %x as a character of hex value x. 20 is the hex value of a space. This allows browsers to navigate to and display suitably f*cked up names involving carriage returns and nulls in theory. Another way of making it link is to wrap it in BBCode or HTML.

I havent done anything wrong to my knowledge. I copied the entire "proper" link, I certainly did not renamed the link or the file, I did not forgot to copy the last 20% of the link and etc. I copied before some week ago and it worked perfectly fine. At this moment, I *think* Im around 1 second faster than kopernical. I found out that jumping down in a hole is indeed faster then just sliding. Depending on your speed etc, jumping down in a hole is between 1-3 frames faster. I hope to finish Pharaoh Man stage tonight or tomorrow. Edit: The reason why I say *think* is that windows media player is not the most reliable time counter.

Pharaoh Man level finally completed. I would have uploaded last night but I forgot to save in the end so I had to use my not so old backup file to start over from there. Good playing. Here's my (short) list of possible problems.

There's some slight lag riding the platforms over the spikes. It looks like shooting up a bat or two might have eliminated it.
In at least once place, you jump before falling down a hole to the next area. Have you compared if this speedup is worthwhile compared to sliding on the ground and simply falling in normally?
There's a missed shot right before Pharoah Man's anteroom.
You should try to be as close to the center of the boss room as possible when Pharoah Man dies so you won't have to travel as far before transporting out.

These are just judgement calls based on watching the movie at full speed. I havn't done any testing of my own. I also didn't check frame counts, and some of these might have been brought up by other people (like Angerfist's frame list)

Yes. The first place where I jump instead of sliding is 1-3 frames faster though mysteriously, the second place where I jump is equal with sliding and then falling in normally.. DeHackEd wrote:

Instead of that extra shot, how about you use the shot that kills the monster to charge your Buster? Maybe that extra shot isn't slowing the game, but it's not aesthetic...
