This is the sequel to Air, by U1, the author of the original. It's almost exactly the same as its predecessor, but with one major change: no infinite jumps. There's a few level changes to accomodate this change and all invisible coin blocks are marked, but the vast majority of the game is exactly the same.
I propose that this should obsolete the current movie of Air, for the following reasons:
  1. The SMB engine is untouched, therefore it works better as a glitch exhibition.
  2. As a side-effect of 1, it looks more impressive, in my opinion.
  3. Since SMB has little to work with for the creation of a playaround but has so many glitches, I would consider this a suitable substitute.
This differs from my last version by almost always staying in-bounds, and by taking a little more time out to show off. I go out of bounds very shortly at the end of 1-2, because I couldn't find any way to grab the flagpole while my invincibility was still in effect. I also skip the last bit before Bowser because I didn't really need a fire flower, and there wasn't much to show there anyway. Also of note: in 4-3 right before Bowser, I wait for a moment and scroll the screen over to manipulate his "starting" position.
This movie involves graphic Koopa murder. Viewer discretion advised.

adelikat: I am accepting this movie and having it obsolete the published air movie. Some people clearly oppose this and I apologize. It seems the majority prefer air 2 over air (though slightly). Also, I think this submission fills the quirky, impossibly difficult smb hack niche a bit better.
Also, I am encoding this.

I'm sorry... I never did really agree with Air being published.. or even accepted and I still think that's the case here as well... mind you, it's an obvious improvement attempt, but fails to sway me. Sorry... just not an enteraining run for me. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

I think Ill hold my vote this time. I dont care to watch another run of this, so I will opt to say nothing at all.

I think I've figured it out: I hate Air 2. For obsoleting Air 1: I vote "no". For side-publishing: I vote "meh". This version is better. But I still find Air1's movie to be far more enjoyable to watch, even Bisqwit's "drill though ceilings and skip everything" version. Addendum: Genisto's version shows many more glitches only showable (in Air 1 or 2) with infinite jumping, such as the floating koopa and other things. It also demonstrates many more glitches, such as damage while in pipes, damage after the flagpole, and other misc. oversights in the game engine (undoing pit death) ... Air 2 is more limited and a typical "glitch-abuse" game. That is, Air 1 allows much more freedom, and I believe Genisto's movie exercises that freedom perfectly.

damage while in pipes, damage after the flagpole
yeah, I tried as hard as I could to show these, but the level design prevented me from doing so. I think that's the worst part about it; it's not the lack of infinite jumps holding me back, it's just the level design. actually, now that I think about it, I could still show off damage after the flagpole in 1-2 if I go OOB before I have to take damage, like in the last version. problem is, I suck at hex editing and I doubt I want to do a whole other version just for that. anyways, I'm glad you liked it enough to elicit a meh (regardless of what you actually voted).

I voted "No" on the first submission, a "Meh" on the second, and this time, I decided to vote "Yes", but it's a very weak affirmative vote. At this point, the movie might be slightly better than the original Air, and as you say, leaves the original engine intact, but it's still not a very interesting hack.

I found this boring. It was slightly better than Air 1, but still boring to me.

Weak yes vote, but that was because I didn't compare it with Air 1(why should I, the poll isn't about that)

I enjoyed this movie a little more than the previous and a good bit more than the current air publication. I vote yes to the movie and yes to obsoleting air.

Publication notes need to be fixed.
You can jump any time you wish, even if you are in air. Genisto however avoids using this feature except when necessary.
You can't jump whenever you wish, nor is this run by Genisto. ^^;;

I still can't help but wonder how video games would have turned out today if this had been the template instead of Super Mario Bros. o_O

My thoughts. Though, I suppose people can still see the air 1 movie if they wish. ¬¬

Just wondering, is this game a lot harder to beat than Air 1? I was able to beat Air 1 using only one savestate at the beginning of each level. I watched the movie and it seems like wall jumps and turbofiring A is required to complete the levels, unlike Air 1.

you would be correct many frame-perfect techniques are absolutely essential
