• Snes9x v1.43 v11 (beta6) used, but this run also syncs with the good ol' Snes9x v1.43 v9
  • Aims for fast time without taking damage
  • Manipulates luck etc
This movie is 4658 frames (77.63 seconds) faster than Pasky13's currently published movie. Most of the time has been gained due to optimized movement and different weapon usage, but about 600 frames are gained by ending input instantly after the final boss has been killed and letting the score screen disappear by itself.
I tend to rely on the Red blaster rather than the Blue one since it spreads its shots a whole lot more than the Blue one, which allows for earlier shooting against enemies high in the air.
I do stuff
Like roll into enemies without bouncing back? How is that done? Well as a ball, you can drop mines or missiles, and those tear enemies apart and that saves more time than jumping across each enemy.
NEW: I forgot to mention that one can actually carry more than 3 bombs, but only 3 are shown. 7E050A is the address for the bombs in case anybody is interested.
That's about all suspiciousness I can come up with that I do right now. I might get back if I figure something else out.
Also this run would be a tad faster with damage but not by much, I guess level 1 - 3 would be the one that would be improved the most by damage and/or death but meh.

Level improvements:
Level 1 - 1: 121 frames faster
Level 1 - 2: 257 frames faster
Level 1 - 3 & the first boss: 1090 frames faster
Level 2 - 1: 225 frames faster
Level 2 - 2: 61 frames faster
Level 2 - 3 & the second boss: 754 frames faster
Level 3 - 1: 325 frames faster
Level 3 - 2: 374 frames faster
Level 3 - 3: 24 frames faster
Level 4 - 1: 263 frames faster
Level 4 - 2: 2 frames faster
Level 4 - 3: 116 frames faster
Final boss: 1140 frames faster

Thanks to Pasky13 for the route which I stuck to, also thanks to adelikat and Deign for keeping this run a secret.
This story is happy ending etc.

NesVideoAgent: Hi! I am a robot. I took a few screenshots of this movie and placed them here. Here goes! Feel free to clean up the list.
Cardboard: Hello NVA! I like your screenshot number 8 a lot, so I flag that one as a suggested screenshot!

Truncated: This submission is happy accepted etc.

Wow. This is not just faster, it's a noticeable improvement in style as well. Can't vote anything but yes.

Yes vote. Out of curiosity, since Wii Virtual Console games are just roms and html, what would be this site's position on using a newly generated rom hacked out of them? I only ask since now there's a legit English version of Do Re Mi Fantasy... and I heard there's a Super Turrican Director's Cut too, made from the original 6MBit cartridge instead of the 4Mbit one the game shipped with. Of course, if that does show up and gets ran I'd love to see an all-gem run.

No, that game got horrible feedback back in the days but possibly MT if it feels like it contributes anything new to the Turrican-series. Also I like NVA's screens number 8 and 11.

Nice run Herr Kartong. Liked how the hero bounces around large parts of the levels. It's also a plus that I could watch it even though I apparently had the wrong rom:)

Your rolling and platforming are always a pleasure to watch. The game's pace just looks qualitatively faster since you manage your momentum so well...

You need a minor redo for this to be considered.

The movie must complete the game without viewer’s intervention. This means that if there are dialogs between the destruction of last boss and “the end” that do not go away without pressing some button, the movie must include those button presses.
Since your input ends before the score tally screen, you obviously don't clear past it, and the ending sequence doesn't come up on its' own. I did enjoy this, but I'll withhold my vote until the above issue is fixed.

Umm... the ending sequence came up for me just fine without additional input. Perhaps you didn't wait long enough? As for the run, all I ca say is you made one of my favorite runs even better and faster. The maniac pinball action around frame 39000 was how a Metal Sonic Spinball game should look, and the platforming antics were superb. Congrats on a great run Cardboard!

Wait 618 frames after the black screen after the final boss and we should be good to go.

Nice job, I've been wanting to go back and improve it, there was a lot of room for improvement on stage 3 but couldn't bring myself to dedicate the time. Nice to see a faster run was made so quickly, =).

Ow. Wish NVA didn't interpolate Mode 7. My opinion on the movie, however, is spiffing. Thumbs up.

Encoding of the video may/may not be delayed because I'm experimenting with encoder settings again.

I think the name of the AVI should distinguish this superturrican from the NES one. Now it's confusing having both, as you can't deduce from the name which is which (unless you happen to remember the author's name).
