But there is not much point is doing that unless you really, really want to keep that terrible pixelated look. HD is good enough for youtube, and the material is upscaled anyway, so it's just a matter of who does it.

You get less compression artifacts on higher youtube resolutions. There is no point to not have them. About that pixelated look - you need some upscale with Nearest neighbor anyway so there is not that much color blending. The lowest number you can get x2 resolution. Back then i was trying to compare video upscaled like this: x2 Nearest neighbor -> 2160p Bilinear interpolation VS x16 Nearest neighbor. The lowest resolution on youtube that gives you 60 fps - 720p. So x16 Nearest neighbor video at 720p on 1080p monitor looks EXACTLY the same as that bilinear interpolation video at any resolution above 720p. So in my opinion it's ideal to have really high resolution pixelated video on youtube. Who watch that video can actually choose what he want - more blurry 720p video or more pixelated video by choosing higher resolution.

Today's video cards support 32,768 by 32,768 resolution. Or if you want to limit to hardware decoding - so it can actually be playable, 8,192 by 8,192. I demand nothing less.
While we're at it, what's with this bogus 60 FPS? I demand 288 FPS for all our videos.
I cannot wait till we do this, it means I can finally invest in a cable which can do 618.5 Gb/s for video. Maybe I can ask the guys who made this if they're up for it.

I was quite despondent to see them shipped in simple wooden and cardboard boxes as if these were being sent to peasants. They should have been packed in hand stained mahogany shipping containers and wrapped tightly in baby panda fur for softness.
After my servants removed the speakers from their shipping boxes I was quite pleased with the quality of the audio for about 5 minutes. That is where the product quality took a downward turn. The 'waterfall' feature was not installed. It obviously had to be added upon set up. So I had one of the servants fetch some of our good water. (We special order it. It's collected as ice from the South Pole and upon melting is blessed by the Pope into Holy Water. Only the best for my home!)
But upon filling the speakers with water their sound quality reduced dramatically and eventually both units stopped working entirely. To add insult to this injury, the waterfall feature never even functioned properly!
The manufacturer didn't understand why we filled the speakers with water and said something about 'waterfall' being the name of the company and not a description of the product. I'm not sure what he was saying. Honestly I wasn't paying too much attention as my WireWorld - Platinum Starlight 7 HDMI Cable - 15 Meter arrived the same day and I was more interested in this other new toy.
We put the speakers in the bathroom as fish tanks or something...I'm not sure. I don't go to that wing of the house very often.

This is an essential item to any home theater. Paired with my $35,000 LG 105" tv, my $40,000 Niagara Waterfall speakers, this makes the ultimate "I'm in SOOO much debt right now" setup. Although I've had 8 notice signs on my house, 1,000,000 emails from credit card companys, 100 insufficient fund letters from a few banks, I can watch tv in pure luxury. I'm upset though because I'm at an internet cafe because I have no power, no internet, or cable. I plan to sue them all shortly for their awful service.

My wife left me and my kids despise me. Regardless, I Iike to spend my retirement money on overpriced bulls*** to fill a void that has slowly been growing inside me ever since my father walked out. I hate myself. Some days is a struggle just to get out of bed. I've tried hanging myself multiple times, but the standard HDMI cables at walmart are simply not sturdy enough. Wow, it really makes you think, we spend our whole lives trying to impress people, but in the end, we sit there in our empty mansions surrounded by $10,500 cables and pictures of family that can't stand us. I think we should use the consoles native resolution on youtube, like 320x240 for example, because it's better for the environment and google. We're wasting a lot of space on google's servers by uploading unnecessarily high resolution videos, so it creates more pollution and death.

I think you are correct. After all, 8K displays do exist. We should look ahead and be on the forefront of technology.
Seriously though... Increment the numbers is not the same thing as technological progress. 10bit444 and opus were the latter. Switching from x^y pixels to x^z pixels is the former.
For 3D content, 4K is justified if you render everything at that resolution, just look at the recent Banjo Kazooie HD encode. Something higher? Find the person who will be stably doing that and be my guest.
But for 2D content, there's really no point, since it's the same huge pixels. Youtube does butcher the bitrate beyond expectations, so various variants of super hires are all the same rotten apples.

Not only resolutions above 1080p on youtube have noticeable less compression artifacts, but if you watch 4k video on 1080 monitor it looks noticeable sharper and cleaner than same video at 1080p. It's better to have those resolutions even for 2D games, in my opinion ofc, because there noticeable difference

here it is. Both screenshots made at 1080 monitor with my lame encode. First made at 4k youtube replay and second second at 1080p replay. Both zoomed x8 with nearest neighbor. You can clearly see the difference. I can't see why not to have 4k encode if there is noticeable difference even at 1080 monitor. If you have 4k encode watcher can choose what he/she wants. Maybe someone wants more sharpness and clearness of the picture. Why not to have this?
