About the Game

This game has three stage, and there are various gimmick to go to the upper section. But Kirby goes to the upper section forcibly without using them. Kirby defeats the enemy of the upper section to invite the warp star for boss stage. The final battle with Dedede appears by defeating three bosses. I defeat Dedede to watch an end demo.

About the Run

Nudging

Nudging can move Kirby towards one pixel of left or right and three pixels of down.
Though it cannot accelerate, it is used to shorten fall time and adjust a reflection angle.

Whispy Woods

He does not have invincible time. Therefore, his weak point is vibration attack to the side.
There was the loss which flew over a hit area, but adopted this. Because there are more losses if I decrease launching speed.

Kracko

His invincible time is about 24 frames.
I shortened time than normal by controlling the reflection.

Poppy Bros.

His invincible time is about 32 frames.
He is divided after three hits at the center, but I do not forgive it.
I could quicken the first attack, but it did not shorten time in total.

King Dedede

His invincible time is about 24 frames and his vitality is 23.
In the first form, I am careful so that attack interval does not become too fast because his position is near.
He shifts to the second form after five hits and begins pursuit if a stage becomes bright.
After 13 hits in total, he shifts to the third form as soon as he goes to the upper position.
So I shortened time by carrying him to there.

Comments

The route grope was very difficult so that a route changed in slight movement greatly.
Unlike a game to advance aside, I had to try various patterns to decide a route.
And thanks for all of #TASers channels!

That was a fun trip down memory lane, I totally forgot I had played this game before! Overall it's obviously very optimized, and very impressive for a first submission. I'm not sure, but you may be able to end input a little bit sooner on Dedede if you can get Kirby to bounce off him without falling down (see the final boss of my sonic spinball movie), but other than that idea, I couldn't see anything to improve on. Great job pirohiko, and welcome to TASvideos with a well deserved yes vote!

Obvious yes vote. Loved it very much. I had made a TAS of the boss battles, but it's garbage compared to your fights. Your fights were way better.

to mmbossman: I know your movie. I challenged it, too, but the limit was to four hits. Perhaps an angle is not stable because it is the collision judgment of a ball and the ball. In addition, if fall speed becomes decrease, Kirby sinks into Dedede and falls below. to MUGG: It may have been my movie made for study if you watched it in nicovideo(Nico Nico Douga). Then 1340 frames are slower than now.

Quite a fun watch. It's fast, and I've played the game before, so I was wondering if it was incomplete at under 2 minutes. Voted yes, it's certainly worth 2 minutes.

Chaosv1, next time don't apply 4:3 aspect ratio correction to Gameboy games.

I have never been able to beat this game, so I just sat there with my mouth open the whole time. Very entertaining.
Working on a mod of an old favorite in my spare time. PM for updates!

MakingAVI says:
For GB/SGB/GBC Copy and paste this into a batch file and run it. start /wait mencoder.exe -priority idle -vf decimate=30:0:0:1 -aspect 4:3 -oac copy -mc 0 -ovc x264 -x264encopts pass=1 -o Video-comp-1stpass.avi mixed-a.avi -sub test0.sub -subfont-text-scale 4 -sub-bg-alpha 15 -font ./mplayer/subfont.ttf
Hm.

Except for SGB. SGB should have a 4/3 aspect ratio. For GBA, it is 3/2. For GB*, I suppose it is 160/144, i.e. 10/9. Assuming the pixels are square. I don't actually know. Maybe someone who has an actual GB could measure? [With apologies to Nach.]

It is true that it's displayed in 4:3 on a TV screen. However, the problem I see with that is that the Gameboy screen in SGB encodes still appears stretched in comparison to the normal GB screen image. Considering that GB is the original platform of these games, it should take precedence in that particular respect (i.e., why should we purposefully distort the image when there's no real reason to?). [EDIT] Elaboration. We encode GB movies as SGB so that they look better. Distorting the image doesn't look better. If the viewer still wants to distort it, there's the option to force a certain aspect ratio in many popular media players.

Sorry about that, in the future I wont use AR correction on these games. I was following the encoder guidelines. I always found that rule little wierd, but went with it anyway.

It's alright. The guidelines… are only guidelines, you don't have to follow them if you've got a better idea on what to do.
