I decided to leave my Pocahontas TAS in the background, on I'm now focusing on a new one (I swear, I'll only do another once I finish/cancel this one ;) Bubba 'N' Stix is a game where you control a red-neck slack-jawed yokel who needs to use an alien piece of wood by the name Stix to help him overcome many obstacles, including monsters, puzzles and such. IMO, this is the game that did the best platform-puzzle correlation. The current WIP is about the first level: The forest. I start off by running, and running, and jumping and such. Almost all damage is taken, seeing that taking damage does not slow you down in any way. And according to the plans I have for the next level, a low amount of HP is necessary for some death shortcuts. Nothing extraordinary, expect maybe that, while waiting for the rock near the end to fall, I do a stupid, random, uncoordinated dance. In the end, I head back to make sure the laser catches me as fast as possible. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1841507162/Bubba%20N%20Stix%20%28U%29%20%5B%21%5D%20TAS.gmv

The game choice is interesting. However, your movements are not as precise as possible. You should hold left to get space for acceleration during jumping onto higher platforms. Hugging the wall means that when you get over the obstacle, your speed starts from 0.

Yes, I actually found that out (and sort of already knew) that when I checked the speed variables. Looks like the first level will really have to be redone, specially with better damage taking points, and to see if there is any faster way to stick Stix in the holes (it looked like it could be faster, and it also looked like it couldn't). After a few more people see it and check out some improvements that could be made, I'll redo it.

Looks good to me, other than what Aqfaq already pointed out. I like the game choice. It looks like the character moves slower when you jump, but you seem to already minimize jumping.

Yes, it's true. *Walking speed: 2 ppf (pixels per frame) *Running speed: 4 ppf *Jumping speed: 3 ppf. And this really sucks too, because off the "Jumping off ledges" trick. I don't know if it will be better to do the trick, or forget it due to the 3 ppf speed.

Two levels done: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/209092458/BubbaNStix-Wip1.gmv I wish using savepoint (5618) was what Espyo meant about "death shortcut". Dodging surging enemies in 3rd floor is tough. When I went without extra health I got killed (avoiding that would have cost too many frames) so I had to take the extra health (4703) and lose 5 frames.

I watched your WIP. It was nice. I also found a little bug. Autofire B. Then autofire left or right to slide. When sliding like this, the screen scrolls slower than the character moves, so if you have lots of room to slide, you eventually go off-screen. This could be possibly used to skip some enemies, if they are spawned by screen position instead of player position, but I didn't test it in any good location and I don't know the game well enough to think of any place to use the trick. It looks funny though, so maybe it could be used for entertainment in level 2 while waiting for the walking bottle?

Three levels done: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/639011127/BubbaNStix-Wip2.gmv I tried autofire but so far I can't think a place where to use it.
