When using the AR frame by frame code, there are several problems : - I don't know how to take the frame by frame video to make it full speed, this seem so much hard - There is no game sound when doing this - You need to play from the debug menu, and so there is no damage decay. Damage decay is the fact that using the same move again and again do less %. It doesn't happen when playing with the debug menu, so playing HRC (for example) don't really show how far it would go on a real run (because of more %). With a frame by frame feature (and of course re-record, and so on) in the emulator, all of those problems are solved, and I could make great videos and stuff, that's what I want to do :)

According to this, this, this, this, this, and this, it seems TASing SSBM is possible with current Dolphin builds.

Yeah indeed :) That's why I'd like to do it, but I didn't know antdgar2 also made SSBM TAS vids, thanks for the links ^^ I'll ask him about that (still no aswer from JPleal10)

I rarely login using antdgar2. I would've seen your message had it been sent to antdgar (no 2) :P You have to build the Re-recording version from SVN. To build the re-recording version you have to edit Source/Core/Common/Src/Setup.h and uncomment define re-recording then build it normally I assume you know how to compile from source Desyncs like a monkey on xanax, or at least used to. I haven't used this emulator recently though, it may have somehow improved

Just because I love you guys, I've started my own work on a frame dumper for Dolphin. It's still in very early stages and not yet suitable for creating stuff over a couple minutes long, but I've been able to create 60fps videos from it. My hope is to get it piping both audio and video directly into MEncoder and making videos from it before the desyncing bugs in input rerecording get fixed. Just check the TAS issue for the patches. Or wait a day or two, since at least one developer was going to look at it.

baby.lueshi; I'm the guy in the TAS issue posting all those patches. I've just gotten it to dump directly into an .avi file on Windows, so other than sound and the weird games that have both 60fps and 30fps sections, the video creation aspect of the emulator is working great.

My frame dumper/video creator patch was recently accepted, and it available in the latest SVN version. (check one of the two people hosting recent builds on the Dolphin forums.) I wrote a quick how-to guide here: http://forums.dolphin-emu.com/thread-205.html Do you guys had any suggestions for features to add to this?

I hope I'm not saying something completely stupid here..... but proper emulation is not the same as TAS capabilities? as far as I can tell from the google code base issue, TAS functions are not yet ready? (no flaming plz :P, I hope as much as anybody else that it will work so )

Proper emulation = making the game work as intended. TAS capabilities = making the tools work as intended. Two fundamentally different things, and, unfortunately, the latter heavily depends on the former.

I wasn't following it that closely; I just wanted an excuse to spout an old meme.

Do the games have to be in .iso format or can you run a retail game from your cd/dvd drive? I have ikaruga for GCN, and wanted to give it a shot through the emulator. EDIT: Nevermind i got it working, also i'm going to do some research Ikaruga being my favorite game of all time, will try my best to build a TAS esque run of that game, after doing my research about how it was pulled off in the super smash realm.

Even if it does not run at full speed. TASing is about running the game frame by frame, so there should not be any problem, unless the rendering on your graphics card is not enough, but I can't say if it will work. I guess you'll have to try it yourself.

I just downloaded [Unofficial] Windows Builds 32bit, v2962. I'm going to try to run an ISO later today. My question is: Will I need additional plugins, patches, dlls etc.? I'd like to make some SSBM TASes as JPleal10 did.

I've just finished trying to run PAL SSBM on my downloaded Dolphin now. I got the following error messages: "Can't create opengl renderer. You might be missing some required opengl extensions, check the logs for more info" + something about a command not working. I can't really translate this to proper English since I lack vocabulary. The original message was: "Die Anweisung in "0x01d1f7a5" verweist auf den Speicher in "0x00000000". Der Vorgang "read" konnte nicht auf dem Speicher durchgeführt werden." I looked for the log which the first message refers to (it concerns both messages though). I think this is it:
Unhandled Exception
  Code: 0xC0000005
Call stack info:
     Dolphin!0x00595305 : ?

If this is of any importance, my PC specifications are as follows: (Windows XP) Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.00GHz 1.99 GHz, 256 MB RAM I don't even know if the game would run at all with these specs... I'd be grateful for any kind of help. I'd really like to do some SSBM TASes!

I believe it means (in english) The command in "0x01d1f7a5" points to the stack at "0x00000000" The procedure "read" could not be passed on to the stack
