I own a Sega Saturn, and Megaman 8. I've been looking to do a video review of it, but a camera is expensive and the quality would probably suck. Does this emulator run it yet? (the rerecording bit is nice, but I do have CamStudio to fall back on (like I do with the "N64" and PS1 emulators)

Assuming you own a Sega Saturn, you can either record it with a VCR or with a DVD Recorder. With a DVD it's easier to put it on your computer.

I'd love to see anything but another Shining Force game. Shining in the Darkness was good, but the later RPG/Strategy games are just so boring.

Well Shining Force 3 seems nice :P But I have to agree that the other Shining Series are pretty bad. The new one on DS seems to be a good one.

If CamStudio sucks, then list a free alternative that's better? o_o

Game Ideas: Racing: Might be interesting to see best laps/tricks Daytona USA Hi-Octane (Could be done better on DOSBOX?) Sega Rally Virtua Racing RPG's: Albert Odessy (Probably boring needs major sequence break) Dark Savior (Sequel to Landstalker, thought it was TAS'ed before?) Panzer Dragoon Saga (Amazing game, very rare) Shining in the Holy Ark (Might need Shining in the Darkness first) Shining Force 3 (I'd kill to see part 2 and 3 run as well, even in Japanese) Action: Alone in the Dark 2 (Only other option is DOSBOX I think?) Legend of Oasis Panzer Dragoon 1+2 Rayman (As mentioned, could do PSX version though) Shining Wisdom (A lot like Zelda) Other: Snatcher (Never knew this was released? Could do Sega CD version) As a side note - Saturn didn't really have a lot of good games, did it? :D I'd delete this post, but for anyone interested in reasons or game ideas, it's a decent compiled list. Edit: During a little copypasta, I cut some description out)

I was experimenting with Burning Rangers last night and could not get it to load. I tried via .cue and with loading the image via virtual drive, and I have the US bios, but could not get past the Saturn CD player. Any ideas for other things I can try to get it working?

paul_t has done some great things with improving emulation of yabuase. Most of this is better accuracy of graphics, but as a side effect it probably has increased game compatibility. I'll try to make a binary of the latest SVN and make it available for download. Maybe the game works with it.
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

Those strategy games are the best parts of the series, although i'll admit that first dungeon-crawler and the Shining Soul sub-series are better than Shining Wind etc.

A question for Paul T or whoever can answer it. What is the recommended setting for video and sound plugin? I hear the sound when I load the mega man 8 iso though I have a black screen. Open GL showed for a brief moment 25% of the game.

Is there a chance anyone is still working on this? Will we ever see Lua implemented on it? Not being pushy, just curious what the status is.

Hi folks. Ive been using Yabause for a while and its time I report the bugs that I have encountered.
  • When playing certaint games, Yabause tends to auto fire certaint things out of reason.
  • A whole movie got erased when I was creating a TAS.
  • A desynch issue involving lag.
These were the only few bugs I have found. Almost all of which were fixed by reopening the emulator. I hope these get fixed soon.

So, let me get this straight. We have a fairly decent working Saturn Emulator, and no Dreamcast Emulator? :3 I do not foresee a Phantasy Star Online TAS in the future, unless it's done on the Gamecube version. I may give this emulator a try, though. There were some Saturn games I was interested in. :3
