How to replay it

Ghouls’n Ghosts in FBA is a little different from other ROM.It need some check. So you need have got another file besides recording file.It is FBA.roms.dat, please rename it and put it in \config\ [Edit: dead link to FBA.roms.dat removed]
Ghouls’n Ghosts in Gens is almost same as that in Arcade.Ferret Warlord did good work in here, but Arcade Game has some limit, for example,no password and less armour(I think it can only be manipulated in last stage). There are some new discovery and improvment in this work.
  • Weapon's selection:dart is better,so I manipulate it in stage2
  • A small glitch:fire/hit-delay(like Scumtron's NES Ninja Gaiden 2),it can help me takes no damage in 1-3 frame. It's very important.
  • Some detail improvment and shorter boss's fight
  • Good place where I take damage

Impression

FBA always desynced.I revised it every 30 second. It cost my much time.I think game's randomness is main cause. It is better if new FBA can have "memory watch",I now use some cheat tool to watch memeoy,it is not convenient:(

The encoding for this movie gets pretty badly desynced (desunc?) starting on the first cycle, third stage or thereabouts. Unfortunate.
Same. MPlayer is reporting that my machine is too slow. It's a Celeron D 3.2ghz and hasn't had this problem with any other video I've downloaded in the last two years, so I figure that's probably not the case. Turning on -frameskip "solves" the problem by running at about 45 FPS. This is with the latest SVN of MPlayer, FFmpeg, and x264. Converting the video to another format didn't seem to help at all.
And how about the one I provided? I did aim to meet the publication rules. I'm pretty much ambivalent on the obsoletion issue for reasons above.

I spot-checked a few points in the movie and it seems to work fine. It's 14MB bigger than the official encoding, but I'd rather have the sound sync. :)

Thanks for that, Dammit. I had the same "your cpu is too slow!" warning again, but this time -framedrop isn't dropping a noticeable number of frames. I guess MKV needs 3D acceleration. (Linux and my crappy ATI don't mix.) Also, the aspect ratio is 1.71 in Dammit's and 1.33 in chaosv1's movie, even though both are the same resolution. I don't know which is correct or why they are different.

Dromiceius: MKV is a container format and does not need any 3d acceleration. If anything, the video inside this MKV may need it to play properly/better (->VDPAU). You might want to try a different video ouput driver, though (-vo gl2 always worked best for me, but -vo xv usually also works in some way). As for the aspect ratio, if the game also runs at 384x224 (like that Street Fighter game), it should have been left untouched at about 1.71. I'll compare the encoder settings those two encodes used later today. My random guess is that one of them uses too many consecutive bframes.

But what about the original output device being at 4/3 ratio? The image looks a little stretched if left at its "native" resolution.

Indeed, the correct AR for most arcade games is 4/3, since the monitors used to play them had standard 4/3 displays.

I don't understand what i'm doing wrong... I used 3 different versions of the emulator (including 003). I used the dat from the first post. I also tested 2 different versions of the rom, one newer (Mame 1.40 set) and one older (Mame 0.36 set). Nothing works. It always gets stuck at the press start screen.... What did you guys do to make it work?
