yeah, best HappyLee of the year! Do it! Anyway, arukAdo made this for the Glitchy TAS But wouldn't it work much better for the Funny TAS?
"Genuine self-esteem, however, consists not of causeless feelings, but of certain knowledge about yourself. It rests on the conviction that you — by your choices, effort and actions — have made yourself into the kind of person able to deal with reality. It is the conviction — based on the evidence of your own volitional functioning — that you are fundamentally able to succeed in life and, therefore, are deserving of that success." - Onkar Ghate

I was doing some tests, for sake of easyness i just changed directory path so the resize was effective when i updated. The current set displayed on http://tasvideos.org/Awards.html should be relativly the definitive one (unless discution here lead to some changes...) What i did was : -upgrade the pedestal so its enought tall to include the date on it -tasers now get the podium -a largest podium with extra decorative sprites been reserved to taser/rookie of the year -tas of the year gets a pedestal almost twice larger than other tas and a full size bisqwit's helmet -all sprites have better precision/quality (limited by my skills/sprites sources anyway) -glitchy sprite overhaul -changed frog mario jump to a better frog mario pose (this is arguable i guess) -use a different sonic sprite, superior speed (maybe we could use flying cape mario since its not anymore used...?) -use icon sets for consoles (when possible) remark: while the console/pad idea was great imo, theres a problem, it wont fit portable or sega cases, using logo (or logo font) when consoles are less know by public seem adequate (see sega, having all consoles icons together is not possible anyway), for consistancy sake, having sometime pad, sometime not, sound like a source of confusion, so i avoided this

May I suggest that the award "img" tags had a "title" attribute with the name and year of the award? That way in most browser when you hover the image the browser will show this title. (Also currently the award image seems to link to the page explaining all awards, but not to the specific award inside it.)

This is apparently effective, now.

This was effective back when he made the request too. Probably didn't notice it though due to caching employed.

Can we make those awards less... gaudy? I find they are a massive eye sore when browsing the forums, especially with their color. The massive amount of gold immediately draws your eye to them. It just takes away from the forum as a whole, in my opinion. Edit: Didn't realize there was already a topic/post for this. Sorry.

From a silly point of view, the only way to make them less "flashy" (if i understood correctly your point) is to go silver/black&white or such. Looking at the forum colors, its white/grey and (light)blue dominant. This is not ideal colors but i guess i could try to get as closer as possible. I dont mind to do 2 sets, one for wiki one for forum, id like to get notified from admin to go on this before trying anything (if say anyway, its too complicated to implement 2 different sets). I understand your concern tought Sticky, i can somewhat agree with it. I think for wiki pages gold will suit better.

This is the topic for discussing how the awards look. arukAdo: I can't say for sure if we'd go for it without having an idea of what we're looking at first. Perhaps just quickly greyscale the images, and slap them in screenshots of the forum in both background colors and see how they look?

This is what you get if you just zap the "glitchy trophy" above to grayscale using ImageMagick's convert utility:
convert -colorspace Gray tas_glitchy_xx.png glitchygray.png
And here it is with a minor cyan tint:
convert glitchygray.png -size 1x1 xc:Cyan -fx 'u*v.p{0,0}*.3 + u*.8' glitchycyan.png

I would essentially do the above in a first step Then i would try to match the blue model as much as possible from the forum color, and replace some of darker gray on first model by such a blue.

Garg, arukAdo you messed it up. Out of quote quote for alternate color effect: This is what you get if you just zap the "glitchy trophy" above to grayscale using ImageMagick's convert utility:

arukAdo: That looks nice. I think that will solve the "too much bling" issue.

This is probably a bit late, but I'm wondering if maybe the Funny TAS trophy might be a little different. I mean, the artwork is very well done. I don't have any real issue. The only thing is: I really like the glitched trophy. It's a riot. In comparison, the "funny" trophy isn't really funny. It's just Mario wearing a frog suit. I can't help wondering if we can bounce some ideas for an alternate trophy. How about something like three Marios stuck in a pipe at the same time? Maybe cape Mario with his head buried in the ground?

It isn't too late by any means. The award images are all dynamically linked. Meaning they can easily be traded out for new images.

I already tryed to tell the staff that the frog mario wasnt very good, a bit too small and probably not the best to illustrate "funny". For the glitchy mario trophy, i thinked again and i believe the best would be to make him shoot his head (instead "just holding it"). Essentially if im given directions i can try things, and like adelikat sayd its easly updated, but theres need to find something original for glitchy if the current one (or kick-uprgraded) is replacing funny.

I think glitchy needs to stay the way it is. The funny one should be something new. I mentioned a couple of quick ideas. Does anyone have any others?

I find one minor issue with it. I assume it's supposed to be Mario carrying a turtle shell, like in the games... except that Mario's head and the shell have switched places. However, it looks like Mario is bending over and has a turtle shell on his back. The correct interpretation of the image isn't immediately obvious. Perhaps some work could be put into making it clearer?

On the contrary, I understood it immediately when I saw it. I think it's obvious enough. I didn't even see what you're suggesting until after you mentioned it. In fact, I think it takes a stretch of the imagination to see him bent over like that. The head looks like it's detached and he'd look really weird bent at an exact 90 degree angle like that. To me it's obviously just his arm, not half of his body.

I agree with everything you just said. The correct meaning is plain, and I don't see how you could interpret it otherwise.

Some people interpret things different ways. However, I suspect that most people will view this the way it was intended, so I don't think it's worth changing.
