Megaman 2 gets my nomination for most ridiculous improvement to an already optimized movie. The improvements by themselves were very impressive.

Eww, somehow I thought this was just "TAS of 2009". I'll second Mega Man 2 and Bionic Commando. Can't come up with anything else right now.

Heh, I did the same thing. Maybe it should read "NES TAS of 2009"?
I make a comic with no image files and you should read it. While there is a lower class, I am in it, and while there is a criminal element I am of it, and while there is a soul in prison, I am not free. -Eugene Debs

I like the nominations I've seen already, with emphasis on Mega Man 2. However, I'd also like to nominate the walkathon of SMB. The whole development of that TAS is a testament to how well-planned the run is, and the camera-scrolling glitch astounded us all.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:
Shoutouts and thanks to mklip2001 for arguably being the nicest and most supportive person on the forums.

Man, this is too tough... I think I'm gonna have to go with... Super Mario Bros. warpless by a hair. I just gotta, he outdid me and I know the game inside and out. But, that SMB TAS performed many things I thought to be impossible. All the other TASes listed here were amazing though. I remember each very well. Some bionic commando things were cool, like the wraparound grapple move.

MM2 wasn't my favorite NES TAS this year, but it probably deserves this award more due to being more outstanding.

Surprised that SMB3 wasn't nominated, that would have been my #2 vote for sure. Still, MM2 gets my vote and would have done anyway. Possibly somewhat below a few runs on entertainment, but just on another level technically.

I'm with adelikat. Woodman's pwnage changed my life. Honestly.. I never thought I'd hear a game openly weep until that video. ^^; Mr. Kelly R. Flewin
