• Is a demonstration
  • Aims for fastest time
  • Manipulates luck (a lot)
  • Abuses programming errors (primarily shitty hitbox detection)
I won't be able to get an encode done in time for tonight, so you'll have to settle for the real thing. Sorry :/
I decided to do this little run as a belated April Fools sendoff. Snood was a total ripoff of Bust-A-Move freeware PC game that bore a very strong resemblance to the arcade puzzle game Bust-A-Move, and other games of its ilk like Puzzle De Pon. This free PC game was ported to various other platforms, usually handhelds. The Game Boy Advance version is a particularly butchered version of what was already a pretty mediocre game.
In this short demo, I complete all fifty of the stages in "time attack mode" in less than six minutes.
A few notes about the luck in this game:
  • It is impossible to luck manipulate the two blocks you start with
  • The third offscreen block is set on a roulette, alternating between the colours of all the blocks on screen. If you see me pausing for an unusual amount of time between shots, that's because I have to wait for the roulette. This is most noticeable in Level 33, you'll know it when you see it.
I had fun making this submission, and a happy belated April Fools Day to you all!

adelikat: Replaced submission file.
theenglishman: the new vbm is a slightly longer movie which establishes the real end (triggering the end cutscene). The final cutscene can only be triggered by pressing A after/during the final time bonus countdown.

adelikat: Positive viewer response and nice fast pace. Accepting for publication.

High-speed rapid-fire luck manipulation gets a yes vote from me. Encode of the new input file: http://www.archive.org/download/GbaSnoodtimeAttackIn0549.85ByTheenglishman/snood-tas-theenglishman.mp4 Stream (soon to finish re-deriving with the new encode): http://www.zexsoft.com/aktan/?GbaSnoodtimeAttackIn0549.85ByTheenglishman/snood-tas-theenglishman_512kb

Woo, that was frantic!

Big yes vote, cause I have a soft spot in my heart for both puzzle bobble and tem.

Very much enjoyed that, although it was really surreal to see the stages finished so quickly. Even in a TAS.

Reminds me immensely about the Panel De Pon submission. Except this game looks pretty bad visually and the sound makes me thankful I have a mute button. Yes voted anyway and encoding in High Definition (When I get Megaman Zero out of the way, anyway).

Corny music, but the game choice and overall entertainment level certainly made up for it :) Congrats Temmy. Yes vote.

This ended up being pretty awesome! Just one note, though: the submission doesn't end up going to the credits. There seems to be more congratulation screens after the movie is done which require button presses.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. the only way they could be more similar is if theenglishman cancelled it, set his e-mail address to something invalid to lock himself out, and called Nach a bad word in his YouTube channel

I can hardly say no to bust a move, no matter how poor a clone. I also found the technical competence convincing, and even a bit surprising at a few points. So, yes vote.

Seems a little repetitive, but it was quick enough that it didn't become too much of a detractor. I always wanted to have a rewind function when playing these types of games, so it's nice to see what good luck and good aim can accomplish. Yes vote up in dis.

Yes vote, mainly due to the awesome luck manipulation on the blocks but also due to the 1-shot-win levels, there where some that where a tad unexpected.

I actually received this as a gift a long time ago; watching this movie game me some nice nostalgia for the 5 minutes I played it. Voting yes.

This was quite entertaining, but it got repetitive after a while. I'll still vote yes, because it was neat.

Because someone thought it was a good idea to replace the input file, I'm going to have to use annotations again. And trust me, I'm not reencoding a movie for a stinking bonus screen that ultimately means nothing.

Hell yes. The nostalgia kicks in when I see snood. It was an evil game and I swear it was programmed to never give you good snoods when you need them! I love seeing it pwned. I was worried that so many levels would make it repetitive but this blew by at a very fast pace. So yeah, easy yes vote.

I always liked how Snood, unlike Panel de Pon, let you squeeze shots in through ludicrously thin spaces. There's plenty of that in this movie! It was quite enjoyable; thanks for making it.

Hooray, this was accepted! Here's a (pre-optimised) screenshot for whichever publisher wants to handle this:
Proposed description wrote:
Snood is a blatant rip-off of puzzle game inspired by Bust-a-Move/Puzzle Bobble with very similar gameplay; originally released for the PC, it has since been ported to several platforms. This movie plays the time attack mode; you won't believe the author's luck as he clears them so quickly you will wonder what is going on.
