  • Treasure Master was made by American Softworks Corp. in late 1991 for a contest.
  • The storyline from the instruction manual:
Skooter is an ordinary kid. He enjoys things like basketball, skateboarding and hanging out with his best friends. Nothing too exciting. Until one day, when he found a strange, old coin on the ground. This coin was small but heavy, with strange markings in another language on it. Obviously he could not read the markings, but he really wanted to know what they meant. He put the coin under his pillow for safe-keeping. Every day after school, he would visit the library and read book after book looking for any information about the strange old coin he had discovered. But nothing. All this time, Skooter had also been having some psychadelic dreams. In them, he would see himself traveling through strange and colorful worlds by himself. But in every dream, bizarre creatures would try to prevent him from progressing further in his quests. Skooter realized quite soon that these dreams had to have something to do with the coin under his pillow. It took him weeks, but Skooter found the book he was looking for. It was titled "The Legend of the Treasure Master". The book was the story of a man named Ocsiban, who spoke of a magnificent treasure that could be "found by anyone." Some people wrote him off as a genius and others as a madman, but Ocsiban insisted that anyone with courage might go on a quest to find the treasure. Once you started on this quest, however, there was no coming back until you had finished, or you would be lost forever. The quest involved venturing lands which would be imaginary, but at the same time "quite real," because they were places in the mind. Lastly, Ocsiban spoke of a coin would would allow entry to this world, but only a "chosen one" would be able to understand the secret of the coin and only he would have the courage and the imagination to enter this fantasy world. Skooter decided he had to take the challenge. He knew it would be dangerous and he would be taking a huge risk, but he also knew it could pull it off. That night, the dreams were no longer an illusion. He had begun an adventure which would take him to the most fantastic places in his imagination. He had begun the quest to become a Treasure Master.

Watching this.. and... yeah... I have a lot of concerns.. 1. Re-Records = 619? That's wayyyyyy too low for this game. 2. Several missed shots in the water of World 1 involving the sharks. As well, would not shooting them at the last possible second save frames or lag? 3. Why did you kick some of the centipede like enemies several times when a well placed kick killed it in 1 blow... if not just avoid them with a well timed jump? 4. The UFO you piloted... you rapidly fired for absolutely 0 reason.. missing most of the time.. that made me scratch my head in confusion. And these are only after the First World no less.. stopped watching at that point until I can find out more information. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Hello CeSaR74 and welcome to TASVideos. Nice of you to submit a run of this game, as it deserves one and this might encourage someone to make another one. Unfortunately, after watching 2.5 worlds, I have to vote no. I'll state the reasons like Mr. Kelly R. Flewin did: 1. You make clear errors that could've been avoided by simple rerecording. For example, you dodged some enemies by moving back a bit, when you could've just jumped at a different time. 2. Many missed shots for no reason. Makes the run seem very sloppy. 3. If I recall correctly, you don't have stop to attack if you're mid-air (even with the gun, though I'm not sure), so you could've killed many enemies a lot faster by shooting/kicking them in mid-air (like you sometimes did). 4. I had a WIP of the first level (that I'm trying to salvage) that I think was faster than your first level. 5. What is the password for? It takes an awful lot of time to enter it. The password is needed to access the true last stage of the game. If I recall, MTV released this password a few months after the game's release, and then people who beat the true last stage could be entered in a sweepstakes with the info in the game's credits.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! Finally got a chance to watch this. I've played this game a lot years ago (mostly because of a dare), so it's certainly no easy feat to kick all these enemies without taking damage. However, as people have mentioned, this run needs to be a lot more precise. I have some quibbles as well with the route. I don't know if the game has any large glitches, but the route can still be changed a bit. If you're also willing to take damage to save time (death doesn't take very long in this game), this could probably save a lot of time in a few spots. Stage 1: There's no need to ride the donut/UFO vehicle. In the last room, take the left set of platforms instead of the right. Stage 2: What does the teleporter do after the first key? That might be useful. Stage 3: Do you actually need to collect all the machine parts? If it's possible to jump through the ship blocking that area and take some damage, it's well worth the time saved. Stage 4: The 1up is completely unnecessary, as is going into that one cave that you immediately exit. Given all that, this run is a start, but it needs to be better for this site. If you end up reworking this and want to post WIPs, I'm happy to help how I can though.

Here is that WIP of mine. It lacks the password and doesn't complete the first level (and it's probably improvable). It's 391 frames faster (I didn't count the password screen) at the black screen after leaving the submarine.
