The latest Sonic run adds some new tricks that Tails can also perform. The result is an improvement of 5 seconds 37 frames in in-game time, or almost 13 seconds real time.
This run uses the 2.1.1 version of Pu7o's Miles 'Tails' Prower in Sonic the Hedgehog hack. [Moderator Edit: Do not link to websites that host copyright protected materials (e.g. game ROMs)]

Labyrinth Zone 3, Star Light Zone 1, 2 & 3 and the transition between Scrap Brain Zones 2 and 3 have been improved to the following times:
ActNew timeOld timeSavings
Labyrinth Zone 30:26::470:27::080:00:21
Star Light Zone 10:17::120:17::190:00::07
Star Light Zone 20:09::470:10::110:00::24
Star Light Zone 30:24::180:29::270:05::09
Total improvement in in-game time: 0:06::01. Due to the improved transition between Scrap Brain Zones 2 and 3, the total real-time improvement is of almost 13 seconds.
The times given are the in-game timer values. The value after the final colon indicates the in-game frame counter, and is restricted to the 0-59 range. It is updated every frame (except during lag frames), and increments the in-game second when resetting to zero.

Stage by stage comments

Labyrinth Zone 3

This is an improvement that should have been included in the previous movie; I have no idea why it isn't there. I noticed the omission when I was splicing in the new tricks. A more optimized exit from the last wall gives the entire improvement.

Star Light Zone 1

Using the glitch found by Romulo the Brazillian, which is in the latest Sonic run. Due to spindashes in the previous version of the movie, the glitch isn't as effective for Tails as it is for Sonic.

Star Light Zone 2

Using the glitch found by Romulo the Brazillian, which GGG managed to reproduce and I slightly improved, this level is now sub-10 seconds.

Star Light Zone 3

Using the glitch found by Romulo the Brazillian, which is in the latest Sonic run, leads to a rather large improvement on the level -- 5 seconds and 9 frames.

Scrap Brain Zone 2

After the score tally is over, the level transition is vastly faster thanks to a trick by FuzZerd.

Other Comments

Thanks to FuzZerd for many new tricks with which to improve this run :-) Thanks to GGG for managing to pull off the Star Light Zone 2 glitch without losing time.
Possible improvements: None of which I am aware of at this time.
Suggested screenshot: Frame 34350

cpadolf: Updated the submission with a 24 ingame frames faster version after a request by the author.

adelikat: Accepting for publication as an improvement to the published movie.
sgrunt: Updating the game name and branch to be consistent with the old movie.

Here's my encode for that improved run. Archive.org Dailymotion Viddler Sorry, no YouTube link. The video is longer than YouTube's limit. Here's a screenshot.

Hi Epic - there is a slight problem with your encode in that it doesn't have an aspect ratio flag set. You don't have to re-encode the movie - just run the following command:
MP4Box tailsinsonicthehedgehog-tasv2-marzojr.mp4 -par 1=14:15
and reupload the video. (Note that those numbers are platform-specific - only use them for Genesis runs - see the encoding guide for info on how to get those numbers for other platforms.)

Well I'm still reencoding the video, since I could manage to make FFV1 to work, for quality's sake.

Here is the updated version of my encode. Not only I set the -par1, but I also reencoded the run to make a higher quality and smaller video, thanks to FFV1. Archive.org Viddler Dailymotion Still no YouTube link. Screenshot is still the same.

The run itself is awesome. But why does the encoded movie use Sine Wave PSGs? :/

I have a complaint. This encode uses the "PSG High Quality" option, which is very bad. I suggest adding it to the emulator settings page to avoid problems in future. EDIT BELOW Puto, I just saw your post. I can encode this movie but it's longer than 15 minutes. I will send it to you so you can use your magic youtube account and upload it.

PSG High Quality? It's the first time I read that. I'm gonna check out Gens' options. Sorry for that! That was a noob mistake and I will disable it for my next Genesis/Megadrive/Sega CD/Mega CD/32X encode.
