It's a PC game, and PC games don't use emulators, so they can't be TASed.

Actually, its an MMF2 game. But there is no current emulator for it yet.

Actually PC-Windows games can be TASed, it's just hard and/or doesn't work. You'll have to wait until it becomes more feasible.

A TAS of IWBTG would be effective therapy for many traumatized players. But yes, sadly, emulation of Macromedia Flash (edit: Multimedia Fusion, as Moozooh notes below, whoops!) games is not yet available.

It's Multimedia Fusion 2, not Flash. MMF2 TASing is possible, just not right now.

A TAS of Hero Core was successfully made, which I believe is also a macromedia fusion game (or is it game maker?). Because of the systematic ways in which games made with certain game making platforms are put together, being able to TAS one should provide the capabilities to TAS all of them.

Well 'i wanna be the guy' is a pc exe game, but i think its pretty bad that big ps1 and n64 games can be tased but a simple 2d game like i wanna be the guy or pinball for windows xp can't. :(

You have to understand it's not just the graphics or size that is an issue here. Windows is much harder to emulate because the system requirements to do so are a lot higher than any currently-emulated console, and in addition to emulating Windows itself, you would need to emulate a wide variety of hardware and software. With the PSX or N64, they all run on the same hardware, and the instruction sets that need to be emulated are vastly simpler compared to PCs. This makes actually creating and manipulating save states that can be played back in a manner which is precise and reliable extremely difficult. Furthermore, there's really no reason to emulate a PC on a PC, so no one is going to put together all that time and effort in order to make some silly video game videos.

There has to be some program that can help me, like a program that lowers the fps of a game when playing but when you watch the recording it plays in normal fps. Do you guys know if something like this exists?

Any program that captures video output should be able to do so regardless of the speed of your computer and then play it back at a consistent "accurate" framerate. So theoretically you could slow your computer way down, fire up your video capture program, and play IWBTG at slowed-down speeds. There's several caveats here, though: * Maintaining a consistent slow framerate may not be feasible. * Sound is likely to not be slowed down at the same rate as the video * You wouldn't have savestates or frame advance, which are two of the key features needed to make quality TASes Sorry, man. I mean that the project Nitsuja and Upthorn are working on should eventually allow TASing this type of games, assuming there is going to be any further progress with it.

If you want to try to pioneer TASing flash games in a consistent, repeatable, verifiable manner, you're welcome to try. But you'd be pioneering, and therefore nobody else could tell you how to do it, because nobody has done it. Derakon's comment seemed to be a proof of concept that TASing MMF is possible in principle. I doubt he had any particular tools in mind when he made those comments -- only the idea that such tools either exist or can be created. Are you already a good TASer? If not, I strongly suggest that you TAS a game on an established TASing platform first. Get used to savestate, slowdown, frame advance, luck manipulation, memory search. If you go for IWBTG as your first TAS, you will be trying to learn how to TAS at the same time as trying to develop a new technique for TASing MMF games. IME, it's far easier to focus on one skill at a time, and it will probably save you time in the long run. (An equivalent idea in rock climbing is "never try the limits of your climbing technique and your rope technique at the same time".) Once you are a good TASer, then you may want to try your hand at pioneering a new platform.

I am a decent taser but its a shame that theres not even a program out there that can slow down the fps of a EXE game.. :<

you can use saves in the game, so start a screen movie recorder, start I wanna be the guy and than play to a savepoint, stop the recording, start a new recording. when you did a mistake, stop the movie and delete it, load the savepoint and record a new movie. It's just an idea

I wanna be the guy (short: IWBTG) is a very hard 2D game, in which you must go through rooms and dont have to die.
