Some notes about judging and syncing.
Judging
- Check for blank inputs at end of movie file.
- Check that movie file ends on the final input unless the author(s) did not do that by design.
- Check for movie files to replace current submission. Could be in the submission notes or in discussion.
- Before replacing a movie file make sure to have the original backed up somewhere.
- Check that there are no userfiles for the same game with improvements.
- Check that emulation is correct for submissions that use older emulators.
- Check that the roms used are not bad dumps.
- Do not bother checking older submissions if user is banned.
- For submissions only judge them using information and tricks known before the movie was submitted.
Syncing
- DeSmuME versions 0.9.10 and 0.9.11 (for Nintendo DS) to sync a movie needs a state to be saved then reloaded on the first frame. Otherwise it errors with "The data could not be accessed. Power off the DS and reinsert the game Card."
- DeSmuME movies might need the Enable Advanced Bus-Level Timing to be one to sync.
- Dolphin 5.0 (for Gamecube/Wii) link https://dolphin-emu.org/download/release/5.0/
- Snes9x 1.51 v7 link https://code.google.com/archive/p/snes9x-rr/downloads specifically the snes9x-1.51-rerecording-v7-win32.zip
- mupen64-rr-v8 (for Nintendo 64) can be found under Old Version on the page https://tasvideos.org/EmulatorResources/Mupen. Download http://files.tasvideos.org/emulatordownloads/mupen64-rr/Mupen64 v8 installer.zip. Remember to set the Video and Audio plugins. Shortcuts "+" and "-" modify playback speed.
- lsnes-rr2-beta23 (for SNES) can be found here: https://tasvideos.org/EmulatorResources/Lsnes
- FCEU (for NES) is found here: https://tasvideos.org/EmulatorResources/FCEU . There is some kind of avi fix file too. One thing to note is that often FCEU movies will play on FCUEX which is a better choice.
- FCEUX (for NES) is found here: https://fceux.com/web/download.html . Version 2.2.3 Usually works to sync most older submissions.
