Travel to Any Country

  • Travel to Any Country is a developer intended way to travel from the start of the game to the end using a stored password in memory to access its content. The game has multiple different passwords, some known and some hidden. This password is to skip to The United States allows the player to only play the last 4 race to beat the game. The game initially has 64 tracks, that of which 61 1/2 are skipped to obtain victory. The Password is: 3V53-<GPG-V<34-2H2TP-HDC33

Why the Fully Stocked Car?

  • Unlike the movie for demonstration purposes, this movie aims to beat the game in the shortest amount of time possible aka Fastest Completion. The fully stocked car allows maximum speed gain in the shortest amount of time possible.

Car Details:

  • Engine Class: 4
  • Tire Class: Wet 4
  • Tire Class: Dry 0
  • Gearbox Class: 4
  • Nitro Class: 3 (later upgraded to 4)
  • 4 = bottom right of each Class

Why Should I Care About this Run?

  • This run is a culmination of 10 years of hard work boiled down into 8 minutes of gameplay. While on the surface this doesn't seem meaningful, it means something to me. I've spent countless years trying to perfect what I consider my "Magnum Opus." All Tracks will always be a separate importance which undoubtedly is still being perfected to this day.

What is so special about this? I thought this was humanly doable.

  • Well in that regard yes, in the short answer, no. Why not? Well, RNG has to be manipulated on a frame for 1/60th of a second that of which each individual frames must follow a sequence of inputs nearly impossible for humans to accomplish. If a certain RNG pattern lands on the 4th frame of the Start press that follows, it must be pressed on the 4th frame, same with the 3rd, 2nd, and 1st possible frame prior and any other frames after.

What is this glitch I see on Race #2?

  • Race 2's glitch is what is called a "wall glitch" in the game's memory their certain flags that need to occur in a short amount of time, and if the rendered position is considered too far out of bounds the region of the wall gets its flag set to the "finish the race" position, in this case 1st. Not all walls and position act the same, some require special setups and this one requires precise timing, speed and position. This glitch was initially found by a community member by Yoschimidstu

How Come you Drive Using Manual?

  • Driving in Manual allows me to take advantage of increasing speed of the car in a faster amount of time compared to letting the game automatically do it for me using the Automatic Transmission. If I use Automatic, I can't control my speed variables and makes it, so the speed gain is significantly slower.

Where is the Money Coming From?

  • The money amount of $150,000 is coming from the password glitch which places me from a "continued" placement, despite never racing in the United States the fake placement is from identifying where the game needs to be at a current state in order to compete against the CPU cars.

Why is The United States Only Completed?

  • The United States is the 16th country in the game and the final country to beat in order to finish the game by reaching the credits.

I See You Fazing Through Objects, this seems like Cheating!

  • In fact, it's not! The game has some objects like Road Mergers to tell the player where to turn next. What the game doesn't tell you is that if you drive very carefully in-between these mergers you can go on the outside of them. Doing this, makes the turn that would have been too sharp initially, to allow me to keep speed throughout.

How Come you are Losing Frames on the Start Press?

  • I did this due to manipulating the Opponent RNG so I could have a faster Nitro start. If I were to press it on the first available frame, I would get blocked and have to drive slower. So I went through and made sure I could find the fastest possible start to a race.

How come you slow down at the end of San Fransisco? Wouldn't it be faster to keep pressing X?

  • This is where the stylistic choice comes into play. Unlike the previous movies before it, the time the game gives me will still end up being the same regardless of if I hold or release X. Cutting off holding X guarantees a faster movie, even if the initial thought would be the opposite.

I thought the movie for All Tracks "Had" to have to the A press on the final textbox where the money is counted, and the player position is shown!

  • While this is an opinion, it's not exactly required. All this does is allows the movie to be longer for no reason and makes the arbitrary input to exist. The overall difference is stopping at a "Stylistic Choice" rather than a required one. Yes, the movie for All Tracks has this and didn't include the additional point I bring up here.

Why Not 2 Players?

  • I've had the idea to try it, but, ultimately, decided against it. The game becomes less enjoyable due to sound overload and the lag is crazy to control. In Hindsight this would be a cool one-off thing, it's something that could be done sometime if I so choose.

How Come you Play on the Hardest Difficulty?

  • Hardest Difficulty aka Championship is Top Gear 2's hardest difficulty. By choosing this difficulty I eliminate any possible early cars to show up on laps 2 or 3 to change how the outcome is affected. If Normal or Easy are chosen the mode actually becomes harder the faster, you go, and not in the best outcome possible. Cars can be anywhere on lower difficulties and staying with the hardest makes the run better.

This file indicates 39 frames. What Context does this infer?

  • I labeled these 39 frames not because it's only 43 frames faster than the previous submission, but the number of frames I saved from the user file movie of 8:08.36

Possible Improvements

  • For now, none. I can't think of anything. If by some miracle that there is time save, feel free to add yourself as a co-author.
If there is anything I missed to add to this submission via text, feel free to ask.

I thought password related movies are not allowed.

  • This is where confusion comes in. You see, the game CAN allow a player to input a password if they so choose, and that alone doesn't quantify the required conditions for the rules. However, in this case, the game ALREADY stored the password for me to use, which negates any requirement to input the password manually.

This File Doesn't Have the Extra "unnecessary" inputs AFTER the credits end.
To me this makes the most sense, as the arbitrary ruling of ending on the copyright screen does not make sense.
AFTER the final textbox in which the characters are in the ocean makes more sense. This would lower the time drastically and doesn't alter the IGT as it's still 35:20
