Well, the thing that I do is press left & right at the same time and jump. The glitch(?) only do is put Mario in the middle of the flagpole, and you can't continue playing the game

At the 0:33 mark on the encode, close to 0:34; it should be the one at the last jump/jump SFX.
Also, I’ve seen this kind of glitch years back. Interesting to see how now it can be optimized to the fastest possible time. I’m not sure if the same can be done for Super Mario Bros. (at least not on the first level), maybe isn’t; would be cool if possible, though.
BTW, do you think it’s possible to press left+right while landing on the flagpole block? I feel that if so, it could be faster by a few frames. Then again, though, it looks optimized enough…
