Author Filler:

  • I've protected the stones faster than ever before.

Note:

  • Not sure why it says (Proto) probably for Prototype, but, the game is complete, so, unsure.

2nd Note:

  • Credits will loop forever
Stone Protectors JPN Name: ストーンプロテクター (according to google translate)

Goals

  • Uses Bizhawk 2.6.2
  • Plays Easiest Difficulty <- reason:(explained below)
  • Goes for Fastest Completion
  • Uses 1 Character in a 2 Player Game
  • Uses a Special(s) move <- reason: (literally faster)
  • Uses Japanese Version Over USA Version (explained below)
  • Movie Stops on Final Hit on Final Boss <- reason: (the game automatically will finish out to the ending sequence without required input, and will always give the same ending regardless of quickness)

Story:

  • Some girl by the name of Princess Pea- Opal gets outru- overrun by these secret underground lizard people. Opal must protect these 1 billion? ... *is that right?* probably not THAT old crystals from this lizard boss called Zok. Zok wants these crystals for total world domination or something. So Opal decides like any good "princess" to send these crystals to some rock band members who for some reason have a hard time understanding the basics of instrumental use. The band is getting booed at by the crowd when all of a sudden ... GET THIS ... the crystals come flying into the front door of the club and overtake this band called the rock protectors. These rock protectors are now transformed into something stronger than Goku. They are now referred to as the Stone Protectors.

Gameplay:

  • I will be using the Character Cornelius. Cornelius has two special moves that are very powerful and combo enemies.

Easy Mode Vs. Hard Mode (Star Ranking * Vs. *****)

  • The Game literally has the same ending, the only thing that changes is the music, but, it doesn't affect the outcome. Plus, enemies die easier, and the run isn't a boring slog to sit through.

The Special Moves:

  • Twist Me Scream
  • Microphone Mic Toss

How Special Moves are used:

  • Twist Me Scream - Cornelius shouts into his microphone saying: "TWIST ME, twist me". This special move can kill off-screen enemies and has incredible range. Most of the time I'll be extending the screen to just barely engaging the enemies to spawn, then I'll use the Twist Me Scream.
  • Microphone Mic Toss - Cornelius uses his Microphone to toss it at the incoming enemies. I'll use Microphone Mic Toss on enemies that will not die in one hit regardless. Using the Microphone Mic Toss allows me to combo the Twist Me Scream, which will cause double damage or outright kill the enemy it's aimed at.

Frames of Input on the Special Moves:

  • Twist Me Scream has an input of 5 frames sequence: UUL^R, R, L
  • Microphone Mic Toss has a 5 frame input sequence: DDD^R, LL, R

Tricks:

  • Stale Enemy Combo Hit (SECH) - refers to using both Mic Toss and Twist Me Scream 'back to back. Doing so will cause the enemies or Bosses to stand still during a Twist Me Scream.

Bosses

  • Level 1: Zink

  • Level 3: Lava Boss (that's literally what the boss is named)
  • Level 4: Tackle Jackal
  • Level 5: Wraith

  • Level 7: Zink Again (but stronger)
  • Level 8: Sucker Puncher

Japanese Vs. USA Version:

  • The USA version is slower from my testing by 4.29 seconds
  • The Japanese version is faster from my testing by 4.29 seconds

Why Japanese is faster:

  • The intro start press is faster than the USA version, which I only questioned after I did the 19:27 time. I said: "I wonder if the Japanese Version could be faster" and thus it was.

Using Reverse Sing Sometimes?

  • Yes that would be correct, in *certain* situations, it saves time to reverse sing opposite to which you're facing, not sure why that could be, however.

Why Drag Enemies Along?

  • Sometimes enemies on certain screens can be dragged to the next screen, but, not all enemies act this way. The reason this is done is only to progress closer to the boss's screen, plus, I can kill up to 3 or 4 enemies at one time.

Glider Skip

  • Glider Skip refers to the Glider Enemy. This enemy has a special timer in which they will fly into the screen. Normally, I'd have to wait for them to fly completely into the middle of the screen, drop down, and wait for the glider to be off of the screen to start the special move animation. HOWEVER, If I time a sing right as the glider appears, the game will deload the glider enemy and I won't have to wait at all and I won't have to fight the enemy either.

Funny Visual Glitches

  • On level 7, there are planes with enemies flying above about halfway through the level. I have to wait here anyway, and as of right now there is no way that I currently know of to also skip this section. However, since I do have to wait, I can time sing and Cornelius's sprite gets broken. This is something I discovered by accident, and I laughed really hard at it for no reason.
  • On level 8, some enemies coming from the doorways can flash if I proceed through the enemies too quickly. The same can be seen with the background sprites, as they'll flash as well.

Final TAS for This Game

  • While it may come as no surprise, however, I've made about 9 iterations of these, all in all, this is what I am happy about in the end. If someone desperately wants & or needs to beat this time, please feel free to do so and make it obsolete. This is honestly the best I could muster.
