Post subject: Graphic plugin (glN64), usable/unusable

I have found that the glN64 plugin is usable on my PC but only upon loading a rom up initially, after starting up Mupen64 initially of course. Anytime, while I'm still using the same opened emulator, after I have closed the rom and reopened it, or another rom, I get a black screen but the rom progresses regardless. What I have noticed is when I load up a rom initially is that the graphics are scrambled for a couple of seconds, then everything works fine without graphical problems, but when I try to reload another rom, or the same one, I no longer get the scrambled graphics at the start; it just stays as a black screen. Does anyone know what I could possibly do, maybe a registry key change or anything of the sort? The reason I'm considering this plugin is to view GuanoBowl's WIP otherwise I would definately use another plugin like Rice's or Jabo's (with that in mind I have tried those other graphic plugins and they make the movie desync at the owl but that isn't really all to relevant here). Also I have updated my graphics driver and that has allowed me even use glN64 but I'm not able to use it entirely as you have read. Yes, I know I can view his WIP from the videos that are being encoded but if only a selected few can view his movie will it be accepted ultimately? To anyone who acknowledges this thread, I thank you in advance.

You can try others that shouldn't desync like Direct64 (a good plugin) or Nemu64 Graphics (combine debug) but that one is not so good.

I've tried Direct64 but it just won't work. Seems like it isn't as much like glN64 as it is described. I'll try Nemu64 since I haven't tried it yet. Edit: Unusable describes that plugin, I mean I can use it but what a piece of crap it is. I think I'm better off working around the desync.

L4yer, how about changing your signature because it's really JXQ's signature :)

It has much higher system requirements (pixel shaders required; old graphics cards won't cut it), and switched to DirectX instead of OpenGL despite building off of the same code base.

I'm having the same problem as VANDAL, the games play ok the first time when using the glN64 plugin, but when I go to load a movie the screen becomes black. I can't get Dirct64 working either, it gives me a 'Error creading Direct3D device!' message.

I've found a workaround for this now, it's a little tedious but it seems to work. First load up Mupen and pick any game besides the one that you are going to use glN64 with (don't load the rom) and right click it and go to ROM Properties. Change the RP Video Plugin to glN64 and click on RP Save Plugins. Now exit that screen and go to the ROM's Properties of the rom you want to use glN64 with and select any RP Video Plugin besides glN64 and go to RP Save Plugins and then exit that screen. You no longer need to repeat this step entirely as the settings are now saved to romsettings.ini. Now load the rom you want to use glN64 with and go to Utilities then to Movie then to Start Movie Playback... and select the movie you want to view but don't select OK yet. Now go to the folder with Mupen in it and look for romsettings.ini and open it. Copy the Graphics= settings of the other rom (the one that is using glN64) and paste over them in front of Graphics= of the rom you want to use glN64 with and save it. Now go back to Mupen and hit OK and the rom and movie should load up with glN64 and there should be video. I hope this works for those who are unable to use glN64. Sorry if I was a little patronizing.

How would that work? It's just changing the video plugin in the text file.. I made a video of what you said but unfortunately gln64 works for me but very crappily so it doesn't prove this works. I skipped the first instructions in the video but you can see i did indeed do it in the settings file. http://download.yousendit.com/8432EC9C0963C7A1 Sorry for the frame rate but 200 fps is just retarded and unnecessary so i decimated it. :P It still gives me bad graphics no matter what the settings, even if loading the game normally.

Well, much like the title of this thread and my first post I can use gln64 but when I load a movie I no longer get any video. The workaround allows for video to be shown when viewing a movie.
