Sorry I must be missing something, what did TSA do that made him such an ass? He's made some great runs, which in turn inspired better runs, and I don't see anything wrong with that. I don't know him personally but don't you think you guys are overreacting just a bit? Anyway, that's all I'm gonna say I don't want to clog up this thread with arguments about TSA. btw, what is the target time now for this TAS?
read the thread I've linked you to from that that page on my friend. http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4140&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=200

Alright, after reading that topic and a couple others which it lead to, it seems like TSA was rather harsh on the TAS, but hey we all make mistakes. I just discovered JXQ's commentary for the previous TAS, funny stuff. Great to listen to while watching. Edit: lmao, he actually goes to make a sandwich during the commentary.:P

Yeah, TSA slamming Guano for his run was pretty pathetic. It would be like Dragorn slamming FODA for wasting two seconds to make a funny "Stario" image. In conclusion, I think we can all agree that TSA the (wo)man is an arrogant prick, and TSA the speedrunner is great to godly, depending on who you ask. Now can someone move this discussion to another topic and LOCK IT?!?!

Sigh? Why sigh? I actually found a good strategy to get the dead hand in 1 cycle and have his barrier come up while he is still out so I can get damage done to me to get killed by a bomb and not save/continue from the beginning of the temple to save a good minute of backtracking :) As of right now, I am at Death Mountain Trail almost about to blow up the boulders to get to the Great Fairy and my time is: 1 Hour and 23 Minutes EDIT: I am ~ 23 minutes ahead of my current run Also, I managed to kill the 2 Red Tektites(I had to get it by the frame) to get 10 bombs! Putting me at 12/12 bombs/chus!!!!

Nice, but don't forget that you have to complete Forest in its entirety, as well as finish the Bottle Adventure. So it will be a very tight race for sub-2, if it's indeed possible. Let's see... Great Fairy's Fountain - 1:25 Sacred Forest Meadow - 1:28 (don't forget the Minuet skip, or sliding into FT's entrance by aiming the hookshot at the highest point of the tree branch*) Forest Temple complete - 1:38 (one-cycle Phantom Ganon?) Deathwarp --> Temple of Time - 1:39 Finish Bottle Adventure - 1:46 (no way to warp to Lake Hylia, so have to rely on superslides across Hyrule Field) Ganon's Castle - 1:48 Final blow - 2:05 Last input - 2:08 (*What happens is that you slide off the tree branch and directly into the temple without ever setting foot on the landing. Just experiment around with different hookshot angles.) Note that these are worst-case estimates. I added a few more minutes for Ganon's Castle because you won't have a sword. The sigh was for the 1.5 pages of off-topic chatter. And what's worse is the fact that whenever I tried to steer the conversation back to where it should be, someone had to get it back off-track again.

Nice, sounds good Guano. You'll kill the old run in no time.:) I don't see what the big deal is about TAS runs being inferior to normal speedruns, I personally love watching near-perfection, and if nothing else they can open up new ideas for regular speedruns. Edit: Yeah sorry that was my fault for bringing up TSA's comments on the old run. It seems the very mention of his name around here ignites great anger.:P Oh, and is there somewhere where I can view Guano's current route? Sorry but I'm kinda new to this topic and it would be cool to see exactly where he's going and stuff so I could point out any ideas that I might have.

Well, you have the adult route. The child route is Kokiri Forest -> Deku Tree -> Spirit Temple -> Dodongo's Cavern -> Kakariko Village (Bottle) -> Zora's River -> Jabu-Jabu -> Temple of Time Are we really sure that the Cucco-collection bottle takes less time to earn than the one in Lake Hylia (with the letter in it)?

This game is amazing to watch as it's a quite popular game, and it's fun to see it broken. Some game are not that great or just okay. But I find run like this or Metroid to be very very nice because they are fast paced, and you see a lot of thing that you are not able to do normally, but that are interesting to watch.

Cucco collection takes 2:37 from entering the area to obtaining the bottle. From entering Lake Hylia for the first time to collecting the Bottle in the old run takes 2:01; However, King Zora takes a full minute to shuffle sideways if you show him the bottle (to get Ruto's letter out of it). This also does not count time saved from crossing Hyrule Field an extra time. The Cuccos are faster.

I thought the plan was to get the lon lon ranch bottle when going to lake hylia, why is that slower?

You'd have to wake Talon using the weird egg. This requires waiting for daybreak on the castle grounds.

You're right. It takes two minutes alone to earn the Silver Scale and enter the portal to Lake Hylia. So the Cucco bottle was the fastest.

Why do we go to fire temple again? I thought we are going to use the hard ganon early method and not the bombhovering one...

We're not doing Fire Temple. Where are you getting this from?

You'll definitley need to have a full supply of bombs before entering the Forest Temple, as there is no bombs or prospects of getting a bombs. You'll need to hover in order to skip the Minuet (although technically it isn't skipped becuase its still learned afterwards) and you'll need to hover in order to skip in order to get to the arrows since you have no silver gauntlets/bracelet. Don't worry since I'm sure there is a small clump of grass in the Lost Woods somewhere, so you can manipulate more bomb drops. Also don't forget that giant plant in the FT that drops 3 nuts when you jump slash giving you a grand total of 15. EDIT: Don't forget to try the boss keyp theory I was suggesting for several months.

I know I'm being a prick again, but...what's the route for the Forest Temple? Are we using bomb hovers? Are the Poe paintings and the rotating room skippable? Someone should really write down the whole route, complete with tricks and skippable elements (like an advanced version of what mwl wrote).

Sigh. Forest Temple? Honestly, don't let the conversation wander. Only posts specifically instructing Guanobowl what actions to take next should be posted here. You see, forums aren't for primitive things like having conversations or discussing things, they are simply mandatory robotic checksums designed to make sure someone's TAS adheres to the guidelines of someone else, portion by portion. This derailing of the Ocarina of Time thread by talking about issues related to the Ocarina of Time game is unneeded and distracting. (This is sarcasm, by the way)

I've been around SDA and this topic for quite some time without saying anything, heh. Anyway, I think these tricks can be done to entirely destroy Forest Temple http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gq-qsOETxcY (to go to the rotating platform - problem is the texture loading I guess) http://www2.youtube.com/watch?v=BZVfXh7U3t8 http://www2.youtube.com/watch?v=q6d9PdLBT7o Two ways of skipping any (not sure if it's really any) boss keys

Forest Temple boss door can't be glitched through like that. The only hope is to use that other glitch somehow.

skipping the boss keys is useless because this run will skip both dungeons entirely. Unless those glitches can be applied somewhere else, they're worthless for this run.

What I've been trying to reinforce is that it should be possible in a TAS to use the acute angle glitch and via the hover boots be able to run around the boundary of the room below and into the boss key room a trick which is impossible on a console since we have no point of referce becuase the room is not loaded.
