blue shadow 9:41. It isn't only my idea.I just have improved Shinryuu's movie. So I must thank Shinryuu firstly. I find we can improve movie in stage 1、2、4、5.And I think my movie can still be improved 10 seconds at least. I use two tools to make this movie. One is FCEU,the other is tas-movie-editor. I'm new comer.I come from China. So there ara some differents in culture and language. If I have said wrong or done wrong, please forgive me. I love tasvideos.

Truncated: For anyone with problems playing this movie, make sure that
  • The ROM filename does not end in (E). If it does, rename it.
  • PAL emulation is off.

Truncated: This movie is accepted, and it will obsolete our current Blue Shadow run.
This movie erroneously runs a PAL game in NTSC mode. Several movies of this game has done this before. For the publisher, remember to modify the time in the subtitles and the publication page. The correct time should be 11:38.26, but please double-check this before publishing.

This game is like Shatterhand, but much faster! Very nice job, and welcome to Tasvideos.

xipo, if you know how to make your movie faster, you should make it faster before you submit it. If you think that someone can make it faster but you do not know how, then you should say that. Either way, welcome to TASVideos! This is a good and entertaining movie. A person's first movie isn't usually accepted, but I think yours will be an exception. You have my 'yes' vote.

Strange, I had to look in my folder for 'Shadow of the Ninja' to find this game. You're using the English rom and not the American. I really doubt it matters, though, it just made it harder for me to find in my rompacks. No problem. --I was going to comment on the nice 2-minute improvement, but FCEu is now telling me that the movie is 11:37. That means there's probably an issue in PAL/NTSC business. Either way, it's a nice improvement. Never played this game before, but it was fun to watch. You handled the bosses very well, and the levels were pretty smooth. It did look slightly improvable, like you said, especially with the one bullet near the end of Stage 3 that seemed to hold you back, it might be possible to manipulate that not to happen. Otherwise, definitely a good run!

I can't play the movie, the game just "stops" at the character select screen...but the movie still seems to be running.

Are you using Blue Shadow (E).nes ROM? Anyway, this was a beautiful run. I compared your run with Shinryuu's and I could in some spots clearly see the differences. Very nice boss fights. About the lag in 4-1, I bet you could minimize it a bit by killing one or two soldiers there or maybe it would take too much time killing them. Welcome to TASvideos and congratulations on your run. Voted Yes.

I watched it, and it's fairly fun, as well as improving an already published run, so I'm voting yes.

good stuff, only real disappointment was the long shaft in stage 5 where you just waited most of the time

Megaman951> I can't play the movie, the game just "stops" at the character select screen...but the movie still seems to be running. I had the same problem, here is the solution: Remove (E) from the end of the filename in the Rom, and turn off PAL emulation. FCEU won't let you turn off PAL if the Rom filename ends in (E), even though it looks like it. This is what's causing the desynch.

My FCEU will let me turn it off and on, although yes, it does change it automatically when you load a game or movie. Shouldn't the movie have been made using PAL Emulation, though? I'm not gonna vote Yes on stuff that doesn't use the right game mode.

Is tool23 a Chinese too?谢谢你的欢迎! I think it can also be improved 10 seconds at least, because I think my jumping isn't the best.I think it is very hard to improve jumping, and my ability is limit. If you want to improve jumping, you'd better prepare for doing harm to your keyboard.~~~~

The only problem I see is that it's running a PAL rom in NTSC mode which is something that's not doable on a normal console.

Question for xipo, or anyone who speaks chinese (tool23, I'm looking at you): Is "xipo" really the real name, and "西坡" (West slope?) the nickname? It seems the real name should be in chinese characters and the nick in roman alphabet, but perhaps that's just me.

Xipo: no, I'm an American living in Beijing. Truncated: Xipo sounds like a nickname to me, but he'd have to confirm it himself for us to be sure. Xipo is just the romanization of 西坡. I'm guessing his real name is something else?

xipo: In the submission (http://tasvideos.org/1422S.html), "Real Name" is the name on your ID-card or in your passport. You don't need to write it if you don't want to. "Nickname" is your online name, in your case 西坡 or xipo. Don't worry, we fixed it for you. "xipo" was moved to "Nickname". Next time you submit a movie, you should write it this way.

I liked it, so I vote yes. I always thought this game was ridiculo difficult but not nearly as cool as Ninja Gaiden so I didn't bother to try to get good at it. I hate those snake things in the sewers-thanks for destroying them so easily.

So why is this movie and the current published one played on a E rom with ntsc timing? Shouldn't this be redone with PAL timing, or on the (U) rom instead?

It is a trend that has continued from the time when we had Famtasia and movies could only be recorded in NTSC. (See http://tasvideos.org/33M.html ) A (U) run would be preferable, but I guess that information hasn't been clear. I don't think we should force a redo when this movie is obviously better than the one we have. But it should be encouraged for the next version, if we get one.

I haven't found a (U) or (J) rom of this game anywhere. Are you sure that one exists?

upthorn: The (U) version is called "Shadow of the Ninja". Ninja used to be an offensive word in Europe, so they had to rename it.
