I'm just wondering how ROMs are made. I can understand ripping an ISO of a CD, but how does a console game get ripped into a rom? Since you can't put a nintendo game into the computer and directly rip it whats the process? -Ev

Dunno excatly, but you need something called a rom dumper. It uh....connects your computer and the game and transfers the rom?

it's a piece of hardware, i used to see it being sold together with floppy disks/drives so you could "Make backups of your games" the ads were on videogame magazines (i live in brazil)

I've no idea about what kind of Rom-chip does the NES-cartridge carrie. But I've actually made some copies of EPROM ROM-chips. The device I used, could held 8 EPROM's + the one that you copied the data from. The device was plugged to pc by parallel cable. I think that the NES rom copies are made using the similar manner. Perhaps I should seek some information about NES-cartridge roms and copying from google.

Well.. For SNES and Sega Mega drive (Genesis) these were used. I actually have one for SNES but no cables so. :( Not that I need it either, but it could be fun to give it a shoot. :) http://www.robwebb.clara.co.uk/backup/ffe/ffemagicom.html Could check the complete list at http://www.robwebb.clara.co.uk/backup/ Enjoy!
