Scwizard, I am one of the authors of the currently in-progress SMW Small-Only TAS. This TAS will complete every level of the game as small Mario. Currently, we are at VD2b the second time through the world map after Special World.

If your playing the Small Mario in Super Mario World Speed Run, you should collect no items. So, are you doing the 11-exit run as Small Mario? You can use Yoshi, doesn't count as collect item. Rule for Small Mario in Super Mario World Avoid collecting Super Mushrooms, Fire Flower, Cape. Use Yoshi of Needed. Any Exit Run.

KRocket, The console run by jimsfriend I mentioned earlier is a "short" run. It's not 11 exit since that route to Bowser is impossible as small mario, instead it takes the star road in Vanilla Dome to Star World 2. The TAS by thegreginator and skamastaG finishes all possible exits (with the exception of Switch Palaces, which we felt would make the run less entertaining). Neither of the two runs use Yoshi.

So, it can be a 16-exit run, 18 exit run, or 22 exit run as small mario?

You can get to DP1 secret exit using items and walljumps.

KRocket, How jimsfriend solves the secret exit in Donut Plains 1 is partly the reason why his run is extremely awesome :) While I'm no expert on console speedruns, I don't know of any single segment speedruns using tricks as difficult as jimsfriend does in that movie.

Incorrect.

You can get the Dounut Plain 1 Secret Exit as Small Mario using the Walljump trick. It can be impossible to get the Vanilla Dome 1 Secret exit without the Red Switch as Small Mario. Using the Blue Yoshi, so if you eat the shell as Blue Yoshi, you can fly before it wear off.

Once again, it is possible to get the VD1 secret exit without using colored blocks or Yoshi. Please stop making claims like this when people are telling you that it has been done.

thegreginator, any plans on making (or just hex editing together) a shortest possible time small mario run? It would be too similar to the run we already have (and therefore not publishable), but I (and many others I'm sure) would greatly appreciate it.

KRocketneo: Here is the complete list of exits that are unreachable as small Mario, without using Yoshi or any Switch Palaces: Donut Ghost House (secret) Cheese Bridge Area (secret) Soda Lake (because you cannot beat Cheese Bridge Area (secret)) Valley of Bowser 4 (secret) Star World 1 Star World 1 (secret) Additionally, the small run will be skipping the switch palaces, and so it will be an 86 exit run. All other levels can be done.

That is correct JXQ, it can be impossible to get a secret exit as Small Mario without using Yoshi, or any Switch Palaces. Are you working on the Speed Run for Super Mario World as Small Mario with 86 Exit Run?

I think I've found a new way to insult someone, by saying "that was a KRocketneo thing to say right there." thegreginator just said, in this topic, on this very page, that he and skamastaG were working on small 86 exit.

Back, because the Chesse Bridge Area cannot complete the Secret Exit as Small because there's a first goal is the Normal Exit and Second Goal is unreachable as Small Mario because I see the platform that close to the First Goal is Normal Exit that player cannot go under the First Exit as Small Mario even you have Yoshi or not because this level doesn't have shells in Chesse Bridge Area. So its Chesse Bridge Area is the Normal Exit only as Small Mario because it cannot get to the second exit that is the Secret Exit as Small Mario.

I take it there's been no luck solving CBA (chocolate battle arena :D) secret exit? The rope jump trick is not enough :(.

I don't have the knowledge of others on this forum about this game, so I can't comment about what's possible... I just wanted to add that I think the "small Mario run" (or maybe we can lowercase the 'm' for emphasis) is a very entertaining idea. By the way, can someone provide a link to the video of jimsfriend's unassisted small Mario run?

I was just going to ask the same thing, I'm intrigued by the non assisted run that pulls off the DP1 secret exit, haivng seen the trick that is used. and yes, I have seen both the castle teaser, and actually the full WIP; I daresay it is as fantastic as everyone hopes it to be.

I send him a myspace PM. He said the link wasn't available yet. When he gives me the link I'll post it in this topic.

Scwizard: You're trying to post in Small Mario in Super Mario World. Your post was off. Focus on the topic instead of writing off topic about Small Mario in Super Mario World.

DK, No one's been able to solve CBA so far, no. Same goes for VoB4b, where you kinda, in theory, have everything you need (spring, shell and key) for it to work. But I doubt that it's possible, the level layout probably just doesn't allow it. Other people, I too think a small mario TAS is a very cool idea. What I think makes it interesting and fun is how it differs very much from any existing TAS, and how the solutions to many of the levels are just as (or more) difficult and impressive looking than in the regular TAS. If the two runs (regular, small) would look too similar, I don't think a small run would be a great idea. But there's plenty of variety and unseen techniques used, it's a blast to watch. Looking forward to you finishing it guys :)

After we have completed this run I could do a shortest run just to show how fast the game can be completed small. The full run's route shares the exact same route as the 15 exit so all that would have to be done would be entering star road 5 to bowser instead of going to the next level in star world. But since the only difference would be entering the front door instead of the back door, there is no point in making a run of it, as you can just watch the full run for much more enjoyment. I will, however, probably calculate how long a 15 exit run would be for the curious.
