Cool. Do you think you could make them go in different directions, though? I mean like in the first stage, have the second player go under the bridge while the first stays on top. It'd be much more entertaining that way. That is, of course, unless it slows things down. But I don't think it should.

falling in the water in level 1 is definatley slower. With any 2 player run I will do, I will strive to make the 2 characters looks as independent as possible and take different routes when it doesn't cost time.

Challenge, try to get the highest score if you can. Max score is 6553500 So you can try to aim for highest score in one loop. So how many loops and stage you are when you got the maximum score? When you complete the game, it will be loop 2, 3, and so and the game will be harder and more enemy will appear and some enemies have more Hit Points.

Kind of interesting, in theory. In practice, probably not. If someone did that by hand, it would be an impressive accomplishment, but using tool-assistance... I don't see the point.

Enemies infinitely respawn in this game and there's no time limit. Why not take out all the cannons, make sure the soldiers only have one spawn point, and fire upon that point continuously, then leave the game runing for an hour or so? This isn't interesting and shouldn't be on the TAS forum. Maybe if there were more rules for hunting or whatever the term is it could go on the speedrun forum.
someone is out there who will like you. take off your mask so they can find you faster. I support the new Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun.

This pictures is Contra Japan version snapshot that pointing the arrow on Player 2. This snapshot is like that Player 2 died in stage 3. This run is from Adelikat, that finished under 9 minutes over the famtasia run that is 1 Player run and uses the Contra USA version. Adelikat uses the Contra Japan version to save more time from the Score and Rest Screen.

It can be leeching by killing more soldier in the same level and leave the game run for an hour without a pause by killing tons of soldiers in the same level. If your killing more soldier in the same level, that is leeching. Try to aim for maximum score without leeching.

If a run needs to add arbitrary rules like "no standing in place killing people" it's not a good idea for a run.

Okay, so this is my first forum. Now for this one I am here to talk about the peashooter only run for Contra. This could be the most challenging run yet for most advanced runners because in this run, you cannot pick up other weapons except for your only lifesavers, the Bs, Rs, and the bomb on stage 5. I did that run already but my two runs are gruefood, however. So, if you people have any suggestions to create my better run, feel free to post (glitches, tricks, etc). Because now, I need to replay it again.

Do you want a challenging run? Go try TASing all of Action 52's games. Also, Peashooter only contra looks really boring.

Was I hallucinating or is the "pacifist" run by adelikat already pea-shooter only? Edit: not trying to be an ass, just have a poor connection atm so I cant rewatch the pacifist run

For the most part, yes it is. However, he collects the machine gun and spread in area 6 (though only uses them to shoot other weapon pods). And in area 8, he collects the spread again near the end and keeps it for the rest of the game. Still, tormed, it'll give you a pretty good benchmark.

Thanks for clarifying this for me. Good luck with the run tormed!

This seemed like the best thread to ask this in, sorry if there is a better one. About getting the spread stream started, You use the enemies that pass left/right on the screen. What is the time frame available from hitting them to the other bullets hitting the wall in the back of the room? Is there a consistent way of doing this in real time as well? Also, how many rows in the stream can you keep with different shooting speeds (example: 4 rows when shooting once ever 10 frames *random numbers*)? All apply with having "R" upgrade as well, as it is faster.

Unfortunately the window is just a single frame. Bullets hit an enemy 1 frame sooner than a wall so you would have to be press b in that exact moment. Fortunately once you have a "3 stream" pattern it is easier to keep it going but it probably isn't practical to keep it going reliably.

Sad times... Tight timing makes my work tough. Does that also count for the turrets on the walls too? I would assume so. I will do the math later, but could you tell me how many frames it takes for the bullets hit the wall from being shot?

How does your TAS compare to the currently published TAS of Contra ([1783] NES Contra (Japan) "2 players" by zyr2288 in 08:51.73)?
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

If it's not the best, then it probably wont be accepted.
