Interesting find, so how about trying to BLJ around the wall that greatly decreases your speed and trajectory?

Wow, AKA shared one of the secret spots :p I was almost sure he was being intentionally vague and not telling anyone so that he could be the first to submit a 1 star TAS :p Anyway, nice find.

FUCKFUCKFUCK! Oh well, that's still the first real BLJ that's been found in the basement, so great job anyway. I wonder if there are any other "earthquake glitch" style BLJ places around.

Myles (the guy from GFAQs) had an idea...there seem to be lots of small invisible walls all around the basement. He said he found one like this right outside the 30 star door, at the pillar. If AKA's BLJ can be done to land at the pillar BLJ spot and keeps going from there (if the speed doesn't "reset") there might be just enough to get through the door. Sounds a tad complicated, but I dunno, maybe it has some potential.

Wait ... is this is any way related to the invisible wall you speak of? It looks eerily similar to Myle's clip.

Sorry for the triple post, but here's exactly what I was talking about: http://rapidshare.com/files/42402876/MylesCornerBLJ.mpg.html Just substitute AKA's steps BLJ for the elevator BLJ, and you pretty much have it, because the corner in the HMC room in the vid and the corner right outside the 30 star door are the same kind.

I'm surprised you'd associate Myles with gamefaqs ;) He's widely well known in the speedrunning community for his mk64 prowess, among other things. What I'm getting at, is that he's a reliable source, like Weatherton claims. As for the blj spots... very interesting.

I came here to post about a faster star for the 16 star TAS, BUT IT'S NOT HAPPENING, IS IT?

I think using the C^ glitch will make your speed last a little longer. It won't help here, though.

When you're BLJing, must you have the joystick all the way back or could you have it only slightly backwards and get more speed?

Please guys, stop using rapidshare. Download limits suck.

AKA, that video was very interesting. Did you do anything to keep repeatedly getting up and down the same step? Or did that happen because you were perfectly aligned with the step angle? In either case, perhaps this could be done on the small step that is underwater in front of HMC entrance, if you can keep pushing against the wall.

I'm not completely certain, but I think he kind of got an earthquake glitch going, and somehow used that to BLJ. You can get earthquake glitches going when you're on the edge of a surface, and the stairs seem to meet that criteria.

We are getting closer to the 1 star run... I've tried some things but nothing worked out.

Possibly a 0 star run if we ultilize the BLJing in the Basment to skip past the DDD entrance. I have a suspision that there may be a bad seam in the second bowser room (before DDD is pushed back). Mario could then long jump off the ceiling over the blue wave thing.

There are no seams in the second bowser room.

That whole area behind the blue wave is apparently an interance to DDD. You'd likely have to be Under the wave in order to skip it. Of course, you could enter it anyway to do a 1-star run.

Didn't AKA say it was proved that using a gameshark to get hyperspeed allows you to shoot straight through the blue wave into Bowser 2?

Umm, what? You said long jump off the roof into it. Thats HARDLY the same as hyperspeed.

My general point was that the BlJ could cause you to skip DDD somehow. Possibly a 0 star run if we ultilize the BLJing in the Basment to skip past the DDD entrance.^ Neh?

I'm not sure, but I remember a video being posted utilizing the Moonjump code and showing that the DDD entrance extends well up above the hall you go through, and possibly below and on either side, at least until you get Board Bowser's Sub.

The only way to get past the DDD painting/wall is with speed; no jump or wall kick will work.
