What's your point? So far we know they're all useless.

Perhaps Comicalflop was being bit too hasty in thinking he was revealing some new potential time-saving tricks. Even so, how was he to know those BLJ spots were already tested and were deemed useless?

Not so much revealing as checking. Besides that, yep, you got it about right. And I think at this point we know what happens when you say "oh we tried that, it doesn't work..."

Common sense also says that the game requires 70 stars to complete. It is impossible for everyone on these forums to keep track of everything everyone has tried. People are going to end up suggesting things that have already been attempted and didn't work. There is no need to be rude about it.

Looking at other things that guy has done, the first part of this seems to be a bit more worthy of "Hmmmmm...." (even if it's only possible on the DS).

That second jump may be useful if done later than shown. Anyone willing to test that?

Did, not useful. It would take a lot shorter to actually wall kick and normally get to the same place that BLJ would leave you.

Here's a non-TAS related question 'cuz it always bugged me. What the heck is said before you start a level? Because, for the life of me, it sounds like Tigger saying "Let's take off" for some reason.

"Let's-a go!" You see, he's italian, and has this accent, apparently. "It's-a me, Mario," "So long-y bowsie," "Thank you so much for to playing my game-a." He's the only italian I know who goes "Yahoo, yah, yah, yayayayayayayaya" and then rockets off wherever his ass is facing, though.

Its "So long, king Bowser!". You may think I'm wrong (I don't care what you think) but this is what was said.

Yep, nowadays that's the general consensus. Ironically, his only really comprehensible English is said while he's sleeping.

huh. I always heard So long, Big Bowser. But king does make a lot more sense.

It's "so long-eh, Bowser". His accent results in him adding "eh" to "long".

I vote for "So long, King Bowser!". Because that's what Mario says.

Think about it. He says "It's-ah me, Mario" at the start of the game. He clearly adds the likes of "ah"s and "eh"s to the ends of words. It's obviously "So long-eh, Bowser".

I'm sure the outcome of this conversation will result in huge amounts of time saved in the next SM64 run.

Logically, that would make sense. Unfortunately, logic cannot be applied in this case. I did some research on the matter a while back during a boring rainy day, and found that it was 'King', and not 'eh' or 'me Bowser!'. Disappointing, but truthful. I apoligise for continuing this discussion, but this is a Mario 64 thread. At least we're not talking about some other random game. :)

I wonder why Mario would call him king, it's not like he ever pledged allegiance to him. Can anyone tell me why the 2nd Bowser door can be bypassed with a BLJ from the mini staircase, but the 1st Bowser door cannot use the main lobby staircase for the same purpose?

BLJing on the 30 star stairs leads Mario very straight, allowing him to get through the door without losing much speed. Also, Mario doesn't usually touch the ground (maybe once) before he's through the door. On the Lobby stairs, you wouldn't have a straight path; you'd have to go to the left towards the door, and running backwards towards it would cancel out too much speed.

The main lobby staircase can't be used because it's a slope, and not several small ledges like the other staircase is.
