Just a small update. I finished HTV 9 seconds faster than the previous. I always thought JF would be the best candidate for a double lapping but evidently it is not so. The boss was also done but I will likely redo the second half so I can at least gain 1 second over the previous (it is just over 0.5 at the moment). Thus far 50 seconds have been gained compared to version one up to the same point though they can not be directly compared in this way. M64 of the run.

I merely have a question about the current TAS. Is it a 100% completion? Because it looks very similar to the SDA run. :3

Kitsune: the published run was 100% like the SDA one. Whiny people complained about long and boring, so the new version will get to the end of the credits and stop there, so any% is the new goal. Is that correct Xenos?

Alright. I love 100% Speed Runs, so that's why I was asking. This means I can get the SDA run off of my hard drive and keep the current published TAS. xD

I just have to say, that I love the current 100% TAS. All of this precision must have been a real pain in the ass to do. :3

Oh. My. God. This run is going to be so AWESOME! I mean ... come on! You lapped 3 characters TWICE in Hot Top Volcano! How awesome is that?? :) If it wasn't for the repetitiveness of the levels (repeated 3 times), I'd say this run would deserve a star. Unless I missed something in the discussion and the goal is only to win the first Wizpig race? If so, then it will get a star. But I'd also love to see the currently published run to get destroyed by an incredibly good one like this :)

Just to clarify, the current run is aiming to defeat Wizpig I as soon as possible to reach the first credits. This means no trophy races and no TT stages (Icicle Pyramid etc). Predicted time at this point being just under 1:20 my guess being 1:17.

Progress report. I redid the second half of the boss and then did JF and AL. The next update should be at the start of SM. The M64 and the state on FF.

Why at the end of the kart races do you curve so tightly and hit the farthest left side of the finish line when under a boost effect? other than that, awesome!

Curving as you know, increases your speed, and curving all the way to the finish line will make you finish faster, no? ;) It doesn't matter if he hits the wall as the race ends anyway.

But I would have though that a direct line to the finish line is faster.

Not if you're accelerating at a high enough rate with the curving, as opposed to the straight line. If the velocity were the same in both cases, the straight line would be fastest, but an active acceleration would throw that ouw the window. Don't know what that value would be, though.

This is the exact same question as "Why do you skid through corners instead of simply driving normally?". It's because it's faster to skid.

noob question.. in the beginning of the game, there's a balloon outside the lobby, and one stage with a 1 balloon requirement, one with 2, and one with 3. then the next one requires 5 balloons. Wtf? I've searched everywhere, but I can't find the balloon I need. >_<Yes>_<

After a short hiatus, more work has been done and the run is gradually coming along. I redid AL for obvious reasons with a slightly different strat to save about two seconds plus FC to go with it. Run.

Sorry to be changing the subject, but I've noticed a problem that I can't get around. I was thinking about the possibilities of a Adventure 2 run, and I found out that when I select 'Adventure 2' from the screen, the file for the Xenos' (to the second credits) run is darkened, and un-selectable. The funny thing is, there is the same problem with my N64: I got all the trophies, Wizpig and TT amulets, keys, balloons, beat Wizpig 2 multiple times, etc., and it still won't let me do Adventure 2. It will let me do the tracks in Track mode however. Xenos your run looks great so far btw.

You can't choose an adventure one file from the adventure two selection. You need to start a new file in adventure two in order to play it. Of course, an adventure two run would be in the same category as a TT run i.e. one that must start from a savestate or the like and isn't feasible under the current scheme of this website.

Plus, isn't Adventure 2 just a mirror of Adventure 1? Or are there other changes? I don't recall any, except that, maybe, the coins were hidden in different spots.
