I have started a timeattack of this game. Do you prefer a kill all enemies or do super moves like moving around enemies?

I think that super moves would be more impressive, especially since it's Gradius 2 and the theme should be kept up.

I'm definitely a bigger fan of incredible looking moves, but only if there are a lot of places which really look unique not only to the rest of the game, but to those in gradius 1 as well. For example, in gradius 1 a lot of moves could be done with rerecords alone. But it's parts such as the volcanoes or one of the bosses in which there are just so many fast moving projectiles on the screen that slow motion is necessary which really stand out to me. If there are unique parts of the game such as those, I'd say definitely go for the more impressive moves.

still working on this? how about a combination of both? *that* would be interesting and much more challenging. do supermoves whenever possible then *zip* back to kill all the enemies before they are able to exit the screen. its just a thought. I was kind of bored with the first gradius movie halfway through (except for a few notable parts - whenever there were lots of projectiles on the screen.

Looks very nice...I love how you "toy with death" weaving around enemies...good start to one of the better arcade-to-NES conversions.

I was looking for a new project after finishing my Run Saber run, and Gradius II caught my eye while I was looking through my NES roms. It's pretty much the same concept at the first one. I threw this Stage 1 run together in, oh, ten or twenty minutes. It's definitely kind of unpolished, but I'll fix that. http://fast.filespace.org/Keita-chan/Gradius_2__J_.fcm http://www.filespace.org/Keita-chan/Gradius_2__J_.fcm http://rapidshare.com/files/74366220/Gradius_2__J_.fcm Opinions?

This is the first time I have seen Gradius II. Graphically, it is very impressive for the NES. I remember goofing around with Life Force about 20 years ago. I discovered that the boss of the first level could be killed with the shield. Is there any chance the shield could be used as a weapon in this game?

Does a auto-scrolling game suit for TASing? It's not entertaining that you got 4 options and level up your bullet, I'd like to see a pacifist-run.

I was trying for something similar to adelikat's Gradius I run. Unfortunately, your speed maxes out far, far earlier, so there's not as much crazy stuff I can make Vic Viper do. As for a pacifist run, the problem I see is that then you have no upgrades of any kind, including speed, so Vic Viper is slow as a brick, which is not conducive to entertainment.
