To get 120 stars and beat the game as fast as possible
  • Manipulates luck
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Abuses programming errors
I don’t like to write much, but I had a lot of fun with this run. Sometimes I thought it wouldn’t be completed, because some things are very hard to do (eg, Tall Tall Mountain, Dire Dire Docks, etc), but finally it is done. I hope you enjoy this run.
People I’d like to thank (in no order)

Awesome run! Voted yes! I followed the frequently released WIP closely. As many others have pointed out, this run is done fast in a short time. I see many improvements over FODA's run. Camera angle is the only minor complain I have on this run. Excellent job Rikku!

Very nice run, and a very nice improvement to an already spectacular run. You are a great Super Mario 64 player Rikku! :)

After watching the run, I am strongly of the belief that Rikku is actually nitsuja's twin brother. A resounding FUCK YES! EDIT: And I just have one question...is not possible to take the "Manta Ray's Reward" star in DDD before the Bowser's Sub star? *awaits rotten tomatoes and eggs to be thrown at me*

The manta ray only shows up if you select its star. The star can only be selected after boarding bowser's sub. /me heads to the produce isle.

Hey guys, im new here(and late in posting but just found this video :P)and am watching this run and all was magical until i noticed something that seemed not right(in terms of optimum route) and there is probably a reason for it but here goes, After completing Jolly Roger Bay(all stars, 8 stars), the player decides to go to the black hole(the water level he does for first star in an order to skip the door opening scene etc) Seemed fine but then he decides to go to the basement to BLJ to princess peach secret window. At first i thought it was faster but when i did this other route myself, Starting from the same position after getting stars, just exiting the door from the Jolly Roger Bay and wall jumping upto the peach door, opening door and running and jumping into the window made me approx 3 seconds faster than the BLJ way. Why did the player BLJ?

Perhaps the player didn't know that at the time... Another 120 star TAS is being made now; that will definitely be noted.

Okay cool. I have watched upto star 34(Bowser) and besides that little speed improvement i mentioned, all else is perfect.

Does that 3 second improvement include the long animation for opening star doors?

1. The JRB entrance had been BLJed into. 2. The PSS door isn't open yet, so you have to account for the star opening animation.

Oh wait sorry guys, false alarm. I aint played Mario 64 in ages and my noobness shows. I was playing from a completed savestate so the door animation was not there. The BLJ way just equals(time wise) the way i first said. Sorry for that. I would love to see an improvement on this run.

Oh, I thought you were including the time it took for the animation. If all goes well, the next improvement should have no door-unlocking animations at all. EDIT: make that "non-key-door-unlocking animations"

I take it thats done by using the blj location outside HMC to avoid the 30 star door?

Probably that, or if not, we'd use you guys's's method; either way, we'd definitely skip it.

I don't know if anybody noticed it or if the author intentionally did this but on his 66th star he went into the 6th course! Thus you get the number 666 somewhat.

I watch a little part... I think you could have watch the run in segment and do better comments. There's a couple of place where you don't really know what's coming up or what's happening with the glitch.

Yes, we knows the game, but not really the TAS technics... It's not a video for specialists! But for people who love Mario 64, like we! ++

I "slightly" modified the run to make a 13 minute TAS of all 120 stars!! http://www.youtube.com/user/MarioZeldaPokemon#grid/user/227EA5FB2A158CE8 [It's just sped up, but you can still follow the action!]

That was surprisingly easy to follow.
