Nice. I was looking at your videos, and I wonder, did the bowser 1 red coins really turn out slower with the BLJ?

Has anyone ever tried BLJing for the red coins in Bowser In The Dark World? Not quite sure what you're talking about.

I guess I was asking: did you try to BLJ and determine it was faster not to, for that star?

Nope, I didn't test.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYd3LG_Zgwo&feature=related I found this video on Youtube of a bug to collect hundreds of coins in seconds on Whomp's Fortress. This could be a faster way to get the 100-coin star. However, in the video, the star doesn't appear, so I think coin #100 would need to be a normal one.

That's been known for quite some time and tested, unfortunately. It's WAY slower; by the time Mario actually stars running backwards, he'd optimally be all the way up the elevator/platform thing.

If you want to see the real way to get WF 255, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNywY1mgH4k Unfortunately, this won't save any time for the 100-coin star lol. Myles

Im having a tough time with some BLJ's, a little help please? How do you do the glitch in the lobby as seen in the 0 star TAS my AKA and swordless? I just can't seem to do it on short stairs or sideways on stairs. How do you do the one in bowser in the dark world? It will make lots of sound for me and push me off a little bit, but then i just end up falling. BLJ on the basement stairs, i cant get it. It just hits the stairs once then goes off of them because the jump goes faster back then the stairs do. Last and final one. How do you control where your going after you do a BLJ in the lobby? For me it just shoots me the way im facing, which doesn't help me at all. Im wondering if the masters could help me out here, so i could become a master some day.

Err, none of them are easy at all. First of all, study the inputs in every published SM64 run to get a general idea of what to do, and practice on easier BLJ areas, like the BoB elevators. For the Lobby Glitch and the BitDW elevator, chances are you're BLJing too much.

I was wondering if there is a list anywhere that has the fastest time possible to get every star (excluding 100 coin stars). You know that way without testing you could easily like check which star is faster between 2 if you don't know which to get. Thanks.

I found an odd bug yesterday, it may have some use. You know the bug where mario dies as he falls into a cannon, but his dead body can still fly around? In this bug, Mario is alive but the game thinks he's dead. In Hazy Maze Cave, going for the star "metal-head mario can move", I fell in the pit right before the star. Trying to get out, I walljumped off the black stuff at the bottom. Apparently, this crossed the "you died" point, so the camera closed, but I managed to wall jump one more time as it closed. When I came out of the level, I jumped out of the black pit, but not in the normal way. I came out in a different direction, at a different speed, and could control Mario instantly. Maybe, with the way you keep your speed, this could be used in a bug where Mario pseudo-dies and then BLJ's, which could introduce BLJing in a place where it's normally impossible.

That would be too pretentious a list to conceive, as a perfect run has not been nailed down. There are continuous improvements being made that would render even ballpark estimates worthless.
Kirby said so, so it must be true. ( >'.')>

I'm not sure if this is old, or even if it'd be faster, but you may be able to get into WF/CCM faster than the lobby glitch by doing something similar to this. If it can be optimized to only need 1-2 BLJ's after hitting the wall and retaining the speed after breaking the door, it may actually be a bit faster.

I forgot if this was mentioned: upon completing JRB, was it tested to see if the black box in on the east side fo the room or the small stairs allow BLJs to get back into the lobby quicker than going into the bonus area and exiting?

I've wanted to make a 16-star TAS of this game for a while, but I need some questions answered first. How do runners like Mr_Robert_Z and Rikku get the analog directions so perfect and click the A button so quickly? How do you utilize the JRB stair glitch? Thank you for your time.

Try here first for starters on who we are, what we do, and how we do it. Simple answer: we use tools such as savestates, frame advance, and RAM watching to produce runs that are near impossible to replicate in real time playing. Also, don't be surprised if your avatar gets deleted, there's a limit of 80x80 pixels here to prevent the forums from looking awful.

After watching the 0 star run yet again (love it) i got to thinking. Instead of going through the 8 star door, why not go through the key door. Then when you walked through the door it would load the stairs going to the 2nd story would it not? Now i cant even test this because i cant do the lobby glitch but i was wondering if it would work, because it would shave 2-3 minutes off of the run.

About 30% of the posts in this thread involve how you cannot go through the key door since there is an invisible wall blocking you from the stairs. The first 15% is the question 'why not go through the key door?' and the other 15% is the answer 'no, this has been tested many times'.
