I was thinking of doing a improvement to this run, but I just realized that clearing the sram data causes 2 frames of lag (to create the sram data) so I wasn't sure if I should clear the sram data or not. it seems a little more proper to clear it, and would probably save me a bit of trouble unchecking the clear sram button.

You should never start with save data already in the game. Doing so creates movies that cannot be submitted to this site. Just take the two frames of lag. :)

Put bluntly, this game, while technically impressive in a TAS sense, is absolutely horrendous in an entertainment sense. Personally, I'd suggest doing PS4 instead if anything.

well I think PS IV is a bit beyond my ability to TAS and plan, and I thought someone else was still working on it. I might do some stuff early on just for fun though once I'm done with this.

god I'm dumb, I just realized today why he didn't go into arima. so I doubt now that I'll be able to get past the army eyes since I can't get rudo. I think you can probably do with out shir as I also just found out that theirs an item duplication glitch so you could just duplicate the cannon 2-3 times and have enough money for music and the escapipes and telepipes. so you could probably avoid zema. edit: woops forgot to post a link to my WIP http://www.soniccenter.org/forum/index.php?topic=4237.msg46300#msg46300

Umm... Do you need to be logged in to be able to download the WIP, or is it just me who can't see where the actual download link is located?

sorry I didn't realize you needed to be logged in to download from their. I uploaded it to rapidshare. http://rapidshare.com/files/222245459/PHANTASY_STAR_2.gmv.html I'm tempted to restart this run now that I thought of item duping the dynamites but it would take a lot of time and work and I don't think anybody cares about it.

Someone should device a speed hack for this game. Damn walking takes to long. Could someone go ahead and allow a game genie code or something for the movement speed please? =) What about the duplication glitch, could you explain that one further? I like the planning when buying things. Good so far. Keep it up.

my planing on buying items was mainly taken from zareons run. at one point I accidentally gave an item to the wrong person and had to edit the gmv in notepad. this might be why my rerecords count glitched out on me XD. as for the item dupe glitch, you need to have 2 pages in your inventory, therefore you need at least 9 items in your inventory. to perform the glitch you select the item you want to clone, go to the "next" option of the last page of your inventory, and press B and C at the same time. and then give it to the person you want to have it. this will take the bottom item of the person "giving" the duped item's inventory and put it at the end of the person receiving the item's inventory, and change that item into the duped item. I have enough extra money after selling all of rolf and neis stuff to buy 8 antidotes before getting the cannon. I really want to know what happens if you beat nei first with nei and no one else alive (probably just lose but it would be interesting if this was a way of getting a ghost party)

DeHackEd's Microstorage is the best TAS wip hosting available, since it was designed specifically for that purpose and displays useful file information like frames and rerecords.

Use game genie with a one hit kill-code. ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn-GLIVB3ow&feature=related Or... you could kill her the normal way. Just takes a while, but doable. Also you could try what a user commented on youtube. It's actually available elsewhere too, just that I copied it from youtube.

Then the game will mysteriously forget to remove her from the party and, so long as you never use the "reorganise" your party at Rolf's house, you get to keep her, nerfed as she is. That means you need to decide youf final party before taking Neifirst out."

I don't think I have any saves their where nei has a weapon. also while it might be useful to have nei for the army eyes. I think performing the trick would waste a lot of time.

Hi! Any luck with this FuzZerd? If there is an item duplication glitch, you can really shave off quite some time from the run. You can duplicate dynamite, as you said and you wouldn't have to visit Zema, which is quite isolated through a tube. The other towns have to be visited so you can teleport there quickly in the future. Although Piata can wait till after Climatrol which also saves time. Also, if it's quick to duplicate, the cannon in Roron is a good choice. It nets 1100 meseta and is on the route. I consider getting all the characters and stealing Moon Dew is the most time consuming part of my run. With some luck manipulation, I think you can survive army eyes with only Rudo and Rolf (else, surely with Amy). Be sure to have at least 15 HP for Rudo after the fight since you have to go over 14 damage tiles in the Gaira satellite. I've seen your run and it's mostly the same, although you didn't visit Arima (so no party members show up at your house). Also, your placement of the jetscooter at Uzo was different, I hadn't thought of that, it looks faster. I've made logs of all the things to take into account. Just let me know if you need help with this. I`m not going to go back to TAS'ing this game, so I thought I'd submit it, but I`m not going to bother if it becomes obsolete soon. For now I've uploaded the video at my Youtube account: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ1QqCEboQ0 The video is sped up and I've put a different soundtrack over it to make it more entertaining to watch.

I'm not planing on working on a full run of this game any time soon. although I was working on a run through nido mainly to show off the item duplication glitch, but I never finished it. I don't remember that much of what my strategy would be for the rest of the game, but pretty much what you say is true. I think you should be able to get away with just rudo and rolf for the army eyes, although you might need amy. I found out that you can manipulate luck by having the menu open while stopped. I should also mention that the angle you approach chests (and similar things) some times matters and can save you about 16 frames.

well I don't think I'm going to work on this ever again, so I guess I'll post my wip here incase anybody wants to finish it. although I could have sworn I had one that was farther then this and demonstrated the item duplication glitch at the end http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/477809541/PHANTASY%20STAR%202.gmv (obviously I'm just messing around at the end).

Doubtful, this would make a pretty boring TAS. although technically impressive with almost everything skipped. I had pretty much the whole run planned out at one point, but can't remember it for the most part. The only really difficult thing would be figuring out when and how long to open the menu. (since the menu seems to affect the rng, including shops and dialog etc if I'm not mistaken) but I'm not very good at figuring out RNG stuff. knowing exactly what you need to do to run away from a boss battle would be very helpful.

I'd still watch a run of it, but I wonder if it would be entertaining to the end to skip as much as possible by just walking and evading enemies? Did you have any plans there Prion?

It's quite possible to avoid battles in real time by simply opening the menu during every step. I've made miracle escapes in real time that way many times. Yes, you do have to let the army eyes capture you, which means you must survive their attacks. The "Gires items" (of which there are four) are of course very useful, because they effectively give you unlimited dimate power in combat. maybe less so in a TAS.

http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm17420001 Make glitched TAS as slowly :-P Can be extracted more equipment in the Nei series, but the progress of the game stalls I think it would be faster if you can avoid it, but a high degree of difficulty And to create in the USA version of the TAS is easy

あまいずみうにさん、はじめまして。 よろしくおねがいします。 That was amazing! As for those glitches, how were you able to do them? Also, for the USA version would input be similar?

Ah, I see. So as for the glitch, it is frame dependent when C and Up are pressed? Also, the condition needed for choosing party members is interesting:) In the future, do you plan to TAS the USA version?
