I dare anyone to make a complete NES movie of this game. It is, quite possibly, the worst video game ever made. If you are familiar with this game, then I don't need to go into detail. If you've never played it before, here is a review I wrote years ago on gamefaqs: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/nes/review/R15438.html Yes that's right, this game is so bad it is the only thing I've ever felt like publically reviewing on gamefaqs. It haunts my dreams. If anyone can actually undertake this mammoth task I would be eternally grateful. I have never seen the end of this game, though God knows I spent most of middle school trying to. I would love to drink a case of beer while I watch this monstrosity finally beaten. Although emulators can make this game a lot easier due to save states, just imagine playing it on a real NES back in the day with no passwords or save features. It's horrible.

If its longer than 10 min then probly its not worth it. Hey I tried the game, its actually ok game, I rather be playing that instead of Unlimited SaGa.

I remember playing this when I was a kid, oy what a nightmare this game'd be to time attack. Don't look at me, I've never even finished it myself, though I'd also love to actually SEE it done. It'd be a complex task though, I'm sure.

Having played both of these games (X-Men far more recently than BttF however), I can confidently say that nothing, or at least certainly not this game, is worse than X-Men.

Cheetahmen II. =P But that may not count since it was never released. Of the NES stuff that actually came out, X-Men is arguably the worst (easily beats Deadly Towers, as that game actually has exploration and stuff). However, I think there are two licensed games that are right up there with that one: Conan the Barbarian/Adventurer/Whatever the Hell He's Supposed to Be, and Captain Planet. Both of these came from the same company...try them out and be prepared for PAIN. I've never played Back to the Future, but from what I read I don't think it can even take Wayne's World or Total Recall, much less those three. -Josh

I know that there are worse games out there than BttF2&3 in terms of gameplay and story, but not in terms of frustration and completion. At least not for me. It might seem like fun at first but like I said, just imagine playing it back on a regular NES with no saving or passwords. The only way to crack this game would be to draw your own map and take notes on it. It becomes more like a research project than a video game and somewhere along the line it stops being fun to play and becomes something insidious, simply because there is no way to save your progress. That's by no means the only reason this game sucks, but if LJN had simply included some kind of save feature it would have been a decent game. On the other hand I am biased in my hatred for this game because a colorful comic book ad made me want to get it for Christmas one year and it turned out to be this horrible nightmare that I couldn't will myself to finish. I didn't actually own a lot of games on the NES but I did rent a lot. I vaguely remember playing X-Men once. All I remember is dying really quickly in about the first 5 minutes and returning the game to the rental place soon after I got it. If I had owned both of these games I might hate X-Men more, you never know.

I originally posted this request in the wrong forum. Back to the Future 2 and 3 is, for me, the worst video game I've ever played. I know there are other games out there that may technically be worse, but this game sucks. A lot. I won't go into details here, but it has haunted my dreams since middle school and I would love to see it actually beaten. It might not seem that bad at first glance, but just imagine playing it back in the day on a NES without the ability to make a save state. It has no password or save feature, which means you'd have to do it all in one sitting, which means you'd have to spend countless hours drawing up your own maps and taking notes. Exploration in games is fun, but when you need to do a research project in order to complete a game it stops being fun and becomes something else. Anyway, if anyone could actually undertake this task I would be eternally grateful.

OK, I understand what you mean. Somewhere along the line in my youth, I was given Muppets: Chaos at the Carnival (or whatever the name of that was). Similar situation there, I didn't own many games so I played this one quite a lot. Eventually got good at it and beat it, for reasons which completely escape me now. I've considered a timeattack of it just for the hell of it, but really it would be way too long and boring. But yeah, I get what you're saying. So it sounds like a more detailed bad game, ala Deadly Towers/Super Pitfall... BTW, back in the NES days, LJN = Acklame. The latter just came up with the former label as a loophole. See, Nintendo only allowed each third party to release 5 (IIRC) games a year, and the LJN "company" allowed Acklame to double that amount so as to release such important titles as this one, Total Recall, and WWF Let's Give Everyone the Exact Same Moves Yet Again. Konami did the exact same thing with Ultra, which you may remember as being the publisher of TMNT and Metal Gear among others. So now you know who to REALLY blame for your childhood anger. At least they are gone finally... -Josh

I think it's become that as long as it's posted in its appropriate console forum in an attitude which will eventually spark discussion about running the game, it's okay to post in that forum. That's how I've interpreted it anyway, since people have been requesting games in those forums lately.

actually this game did have a password system...sorta if you hold ab + select and press start on the title screen (some simple combination like that) you get a password entry screen of course...theres only one password that works... fluxcapacitoristhepower this will let you play the third game from the beginning (the third game was originaly to be released seperately but I think they figured it wasn't going to sell so they just stuck em together) but I liked this game back then, the lack of saving/normal passwords was completely assinine though and nearly destroyed the game. with emulation its a pretty decent game (yay for save states) many of the puzzles are pretty clever on a solomon's key/lolo scale., bouncing between the 3 time zones + using the vines and other secrets is fun if you give the game a chance. (i've never come close to beating it either)

I tried it recently. It'd be a decent game if it weren't for the nonsensical stroy and enemies, the crumby handling, the irritating music, and had more distinct environments. It's a huge game, but unlike Legacy of the Wizard, is a pest to play. It's a different brand of "bad" from Cheetahmen, I'd say (hard-to-handle vs. shoddy workmanship).
A hundred years from now, they will gaze upon my work and marvel at my skills but never know my name. And that will be good enough for me.

Hey, the harder and more horrible the game is, the more impressive it is when you do it marvelously, and it prompts more bragging rights as well. Seeing that everyone is doing the main and popular ones (marios, megamen, etc) itd be nice to see some random games thrown in the mix. also be horribly aggrivating to get the roms for, but worth it.

I always thought it was harder to get the more popular games because they're always the ones that the IDSA cracks down on.

Meh, roms are actually quite easy to come by, thanks to google search. You go through a lot of crap, but you find it after a day or two. Makes me wish I could just rip my nes games myself :/
