Hard to believe but this game was once one of the best psx fighting games around. A few things the game is notable for is having the two bosses of the game be females and completely non slutty ( not that this game is lacking in the slutty department ), and having a character that fights with guns that are just a good vs sword-fighters as you might guess. So I just watched the golden ax tas and the level with all the falling monsters inspired me to try a pacifist run of this game.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: pcsx 0.1.2
  • avoids hitting the opponent
  • avoids getting hit
  • complete the game quickly
  • plays on hardest difficulty
  • uses a code

Comments

It's a shame the music doesn't work. So Uranus is the obvious choice because of her flying ability. It also keeps you from having to fight her later. The code I use to select her is R1, L2, X, L1, R2, Circle when the menu is flying in. I've never been able to do the code by hand which is a pain because you can't save your game.
Most of the characters here have the same strategy. Mondo and master are much harder because most of there moves are slow long range moves and they are happy to stand still and spam them all day.

Other comments

This run can definitely be improved but this was as good as I could get without an in depth study of the rng.

mmbossman: People don't seem to like the goal choice, rejecting.

adelikat: Unrejecting this submission for consideration into the Vault tier

adelikat: Accepting for publication to the Vault

adelikat: The goals for this movie are not compatible with the Vault, setting status back to rejected

I saw this on your YouTube ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgHljXeSr_M ) and to be honest I wasn't impressed with the run itself. It is just 4 and a half minutes of manipulating the AI to be dumb and suicide off the edge of the arena. Sure it is probably the fastest way to beat the game, but it isn't very entertaining to watch, in my opinion. I'll give this a Meh vote.

Generally for fighting games, it's better to go for entertaining matches rather than the fastest possible completion of the game. I agree with Toothache; this run is very repetitive and doesn't really offer anything new after the first bout of the first match. Voting no.

I have to vote no on this one I'm afraid. This is about as bad as my own WWF Royal Rumble submission for the SNES. :D I would love to see some hack and slash in this TAS. Hope you'll make a better version soon. Cheers!

The ringouts were funny at first, but it was just too repetitive for me. Voted No.

It started off fairly tame, but as more balls entered the picture it sure got a lot more entertaining.

As a pacifist run fan, I enjoyed it from the get go. A short and sweet fighting (luring?) game vid. If it was my website, it would be published. (in other words: voted yes)

Interesting premise for a fighting game, but unfortunately it was only entertaining for the first two or three fights. Voting no.

If you're gonna make gimmick runs for this game, next time pick Vermilion and just shoot everyone to death the moment they do anything fancy, or Sho and just suicide everyone to death. That counts as pacifist too. That, or pick Chaos and only use his KOF ripoff moves.

I giggled for the two first fights. This is a fun idea for one or two rounds in a playaround submission, but not for a whole movie.

Sadly, I'll have to tune in with the majority in this thread. The idea is ok for one or two rounds, but not for a whole movie. Thus, voting no.

Tricking the AI into committing suicide was funny, but it shouldn't be for the whole movie. I vote No.

The repetition slaughters the "fun" in watching this TAS I'm afraid. Voting No.

Yeah, I thought I'd find Tekken, Mortal Kombat, and Street Fighter the three best fighting games I ever played! And how does SNES Clay Fighter compare to this?

I wasn't expecting this to make it but I'm glad some people found it entertaining It's much better then clay fighter. It plays more like street fighter 2 then soul edge. Crazy special moves, chain combos, supers, and hidden moves that are not documented and nearly imposable to do. By todays standards it's nothing special but in the day it was good. Still hard to beat the fun of shooting people with Vermilion.

I think this was good. It just needed more variety. The parts where your opponent charge or do special moves that cause them to trip and fall over the edge are great, but the parts where you fly all the way back to the edge of the stage and they have to jump in to try and attack you aren't really impressive.

Does this even count as a vault submission? I mean, it has an alternative goal. I agree that I would be more interested in seeing this if it didn't feature a character that can fly so far away from the arena the AI has to ring out if it wants to even get close to her.
