In that case, 2P Contra Rebirth on Hard needs to be done. :)

It doesn't look like it's emulated at full speed, though, does it?

Well, it was recorded with fraps, so it isn't necessarily bad emulation.

Why don't you read the description? He said it works at full speed, but fraps killed a few FPS.

Anybody pulled off a no-SJ yet? If not, this would be a great help seeing if that DBJ works.

I have heard multiple people say that all separate parts of a no SJ run has been done, but that geocore (maybe some other room as well) basically has so many hard tricks you have to string together in one go that it is unrealistic that it would be done unassisted as of now. But a TAS should therfore be able to get 21%, which is pretty cool.

This is correct. Every part of the game is doable without SJ. Geocore (the room before Plasma Beam) just requires godly precision on the morph ball bomb jumps. Actually, a 21% run requires amazing bomb jumps on a very regular basis, but Geocore requires three of them, back to back, and if you fail any one of the jumps you have to do all three again. Unless a new game-breaking glitch is found, 21% is the lowest possible even under TAS conditions. All four beams are required to beat Metroid Prime and to open multiple doors in the run, and the twelve artifacts are required to enter the final area of the game. Phazon Suit is required to beat Prime phase 2, and to get those you have to beat Omega Pirate (which requires X-Ray).That adds up to 18%, and you of course need morph ball, bombs, and missiles to open various doors and solve required puzzles. Of the items that could MAYBE theoretically be skipped, I can only think of missiles. Technically, a SW could be used to bypass any missile doors. I don't think we'll see that happen though.

Don't you also need all the visors to beat Prime phase 2? Or can you hit her even if you can't see her?

Thermal visor is already skipped so I guess you can :)

Might not be too surprising, but I'll let go of my life and use all time I possibly could find to TAS Metroid Prime as soon as rerecording has been added to a stable GC emulator. So I guess that's number one on my wishlist at least. I'm just sorry myself I can't do anything to help speed up the process.

YES! A TAS of VJ on Ultra V-Rated would be so awesome! I mean I know only one person who ever played through Ultra V-Rated with all rainbow viewtifuls (shes an obsessed gamer, I couldn't get through "easy"). Seeing this TASed perfectly and super fast would be the best thing ever. And just in case you couldn't guess that already I think every TAS of this game should be made on Ultra V-Rated. Everything else would just be boring, even though you can kill the enemies faster on easy. Eternal Darkness I don't know how good of a TAS it would make but it's overall awesomeness should be enough to make it entertaining. Other than that ofcourse the GC-version of TP and the other usual suspects like all the Marios (Galaxy would be first on my list), Metroids, Pikmins etc.

Unfortunately, going through with low sanity and watching the more interesting effects would slow you down...and the sanity effects are such a part of it. Hmm. A no-sanity run? :D

Heh. I've always considered Xelotath to be the easier one to run because of her weak zombies (though the inability to decapitate monsters because of that phantom limb syndrome is certainly annoying). Playing with her as the final target would result in plenty of sanity drain, from running past zombies that are doing the "green gaze" on you, and usually it wouldn't be worth your time to cast the spells needed to restore it. Presumably all of the "This can't be happening" cutscenes would have to be manipulated away, though, since they're strictly "wasted" time.

I see the love of Pokemon has extended to the GC versions. As some of you may be aware, I have been working for some time on a non-TAS speedrun of Colosseum where I get all snags. There is only so much luck manipulation I have the patience to do, but for getting all snags, I am currently working on an estimated time of around 9 hours (assuming timing stops when I snag the last available Pokemon, Togetic). Obviously, for a TAS manipulating crits should be easy, however I did have a notable incident while recording segment 2 of the run - Umbreon would not crit even after well over 100 attempts, and I got Espeon to crit around 5 times in that same period, which is just below average (average should be around 6-7 crits). I'm not sure how easy it would be to manipulate the RNG for crits and so on in Colosseum and XD, but if it is anything similar to the handheld games then it should be feasibly possible. I've tried a few techniques in order to manipulate the RNG myself, but no such luck so far, but I do have suspicions there are some ways of easily working the RNG in the runner's favour, it is probably something I havent tried or thought of yet. Finding some way to manipulate the IVs and nature will make things a lot easier as well. I found getting Croconaw early and using her (I reset for a female to have a much easier time with Venus) made the game manageable at a comparatively low level. Even with the disasterous mistake in the lab segment with Wobbuffet, I was still able to beat my estimated time of reaching the credits and my current save is just after the credits in a time of 4:53. For an all-snags run, a TAS should be able to manipulate even a Pokeball to snag something from full health, although getting the Master Ball and using the ball-duplication glitch would make that easier, even in a TAS. Coming from my test run of 10:34, and my estimate of my final time of around 9 hours, I reckon a TAS of an all-snags run of Colosseum should clock in at around just under 8 hours, perhaps even 7:30, unless there are any further time saving incidents that can be exploited. For a regular run that just goes straight to the credits, you are probably talking somewhere below 4:30, maybe as much as 4:00 at the utmost. If you want to watch the WIP of the Colosseum run so far, you can follow it here: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=D41067260A124859. Hopefully some of the tactics used for the battles can be applied for the TAS run itself, double battles have their own metagame which differ from single battles and require their own strategies.

Yeah manipulating those cutscenes away would be sad, since they are awesome, but neccessary. One problem I see with this is that once your sanity is drained the green gaze drains your health (I encountered this problem one time when I wanted to play the game with no sanity). They really shouldn't have made it this way, makes the game less fun, imo. And once you are sufficiently injured you can't run anymore, which would be a problem. So I don't know how feasable it is to play a TAS in the Xel-story. The other zombies also drain your sanity, just not as much, so that might be the better option.

World of Goo will be an amazing game to play :) I think that there will be a great competition among TASer to make the better run. The strategies are hard to pin point exactly, and in a TAS there will be some thing that will be possible that won't be in real life. I hope to see this as soon as the Wii is TASable.
I full heartedly agree with this, after watching the SDA run and finding out that the run can be played co-op with 2 wiimotes. As soon as Dolphin is ready I'm going to start this run. (And the game runs on my current build of dolphin, woo!)

New Super Mario Bros. Wii would make an epic 4-player TAS, I'm sure. :D (Well...once it can be confirmed that there are no big glitches with emulating it. It IS a new game, after all...)

I would kill for a Billy Hatcher TAS. There are tonz of skips that you can do with all of the fast paced action!

I think excite truck would be very entertaining (going for score rather than time), because you're rewarded for close calls and weaving through trees, and perfectly smashing the other trucks would surely be entertaining. Not sure if I'd want to watch the whole game though because some of the levels are quite similar

I really don't think Super Paper Mario is going to be a good TAS. Have you seen the run on SDA? It's boring as hell, and that's because the game sucks. They ruined a winning formula by making this game that has little to no replay value. I hope they make a new game, but make it like the first two. Only reason I still have the game, is because it completes the series.

Initially, I thought FFCC: The Crystal Bearers would be too long for a TAS, since I figured it would be about 7 hours. Given that my speed run is down to about 4.5, it should be a bit more bearable. Of course, if you don't need all the life that I do, you would cut out almost every fight there is, leaving the 4 boss fights in the game. It might not be that entertaining of a run. Would make a good movie though. :-P

I think Wario World would make a good TAS, according to this, this, this, this, and this.
