About the game

Super Gussun Oyoyo is a puzzle game like a mixture of Lemmings and Tetris. Gussun and Oyoyo are the names of two treasure hunters. They explore a dungeon to find treasures. Unluckily, an earthquake breaks out while they are in the dungeon, and it makes the dungeon start to sink. The player controls blocks like peaces of Tetris, leading Gussun to the exit of the dungeon. The player has to clear the stages of the dungeon before submerging. If there are two players, the other character, Oyoyo appears and the players compete with each other for the score. The game was also released in European arcades under the name of "Risky Challenge".

About the run

This run starts from the stage 21 to get to the credits as fast as possible. Gussun starts to run if a peace drops with a thud nearby him or hits hard his head on the bottom of its corner. He never falls himself, even if he losts his floor, until he starts to walk. The run abuses two glitches. On the stage 30, the sound of the game gets glitched until the end of the stage 32 so the run can show you something unexpected. I don't know how the glitch occurs. Probably it is caused by when an specific peace rotates at an exact pixel. Also the other glitch is abused on the stage 37. If some peace pushes Gussun diagonally, exactly, he will be in the peace and it will be able to carry him quickly.

mmbossman: Interesting game. I found the first few levels pretty boring, but the latter levels were very enjoyable. Accepting for publication.

This game weirds me out, but the run is well-played, by all appearances. If enough people can deal with the game choice I don't see why not... I do question starting at anywhere other than the normal start of the game, but I'm not sure doing so would help the run any (I'm thinking of the Lemmings run which skips the easier difficulty levels for precedent here, or perhaps the Arkanoid glitched run). I think it's good this run started at a later level, otherwise it would get too boring.

I enjoyed this... though not familiar with the game the goal seems intuitive and so the solutions looked creative and clearly tool assisted. I do wonder what the first twenty levels are like and what a 2 player run would look like.

Hmm...Aktanusa's encode has some sound issues. I tried both the mp4 and the mkv and somewhere around three and a half minutes in, the sound switches to a monotone buzz. Anyone else experiencing this issue? What I saw looked nice, though.

Oops, you're right. Sorry! The publication should probably note the sound glitch.

It wasn't clear to me at first that you have no direct control over how Gussun walks, hence why you try to speed him up by attacking him with flying blocks and you obstruct the directions he's not supposed to walk. Also, it took me some time to realize that a number over Gussun indicated how long he would wait before he starts walking. Once I realized these things, though, I had fun with this run. This seems like a good addition to the site.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Admittedly, the solutions seemed really obvious once I understood the mechanics of the game. Therefore, the quality of the run itself relies solely on how well you can manipulate the game to your advantage, and I doubt that this would change between any runs. The entertainment value plummeted pretty quickly as well. All in all, I think this was just a poor game choice. Meh vote.

Great run, although you should probably do the Arcade version next time.
