I honestly didn't think I would ever finish a TAS again, but here we are.

Elevator Action TAS by Guybrush "Brushy" McWood

  • Used FCEUX 2.1.2
  • 3673 frames faster than the current published run by me.
  • Aims for the fastest time
  • Abuses programming errors
  • Manipulates luck
  • Uses death as a short cut
  • Does not color a dinosaur
  • Aims for the cock
Most of the improvement comes from over all better playing, which lead to me being able to enter some elevators better, which lead to me being able to catch some elevators that I wasn't able to ride in my last run. I was not able to really manipulate the elevator patterns as it seems they move on some fixed timer and they were moving pretty much like they were in the old run.
I tried to make the levels entertaining by using different themes.
  • The theme of the first level is "An agressive homophobic in a gay convention". Here's the story: http://pastebin.com/f5a0f27f6 DISCLAIMER: I have nothing against gay people, I just wrote this story to entertain viewers of this TAS, not to provoke anything.
  • The second level presents a story of a nicotine addict in a search for cigarettes in a world where all nicotine products have been banned
  • The third level is a movie by Arnold Swahcrtsenegger Schwarzenegger
  • In the fourth level I tried to play the game like I assume it would be played
I'm planning on writing narrations for the first three levels, which I think will make this run more entertaining. I didn't write them yet as it would have taken some time and I really wanted to submit this today.
I played 4 levels like I did in my previous run, because back then I thought it was just enough. Not too many to make it repetitive and enough to show off some of the difficulty that the game offers. When I began TASing this run, I thought that the first level is sufficent for showing what the game has to offer. I'm sorry... this just is not one of those games that is best suited as even a playaround. I did vote Meh, as there were some genuine o.O??? moments via glitches, which did actually make things interesting.. but even with the premises you chose.. meh. Not that there's many ways you can make this game entertaining. Now if there was a way to glitch through the wall barriers.. THAT would be impressive and worth a technical upgrade. Mr. Kelly R. It's a clear improvement, and although the game is slow-paced, it looks rather non-trivial to TAS. Yes vote. EDIT: There was an encode here, but it contained a mistake in the subtitles. Re-encoding. I was having fun in a silly way until the last level, which was actually incredibly impressive. I've never actually felt sympathy for the enemies in a TAS before, but it looked like you were doing some seriously unfair things. Yes.

The submission text is awesome, though I feel like I'm a bad person for laughing at your description of the first level's theme. The game gets pretty repetitive (especially the music) until the last level, which demonstrates some pretty serious ownage. The glitched elevators definitely helped the speed and entertainment. It's a nice improvement to the previous run, and I'll vote Yes, but I'm not sure if I really like the use of death as a shortcut for a game like this.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! I was very tempted to improve this run myself as I knew death saved quite a bit of time. Could you have died more to save time? Maybe there aren't enough lives... I can't remember.

This TAS is actually approved by Obama, because it demonstrates how to enter and exit elevators more efficiently. People have a lot more time for work and other things, when they don't have to wait for elevators that long.

You have no idea how difficult this game gets in the fourth level... Some of the enemies will just come out of the door, duck and shoot without the player being able to do anything. Sometimes another enemy is coming right after the first too, so that I can't even shoot the first enemy, because the door where the second enemy is coming, is in the way. That's why I have no sympathy for the enemies.

Trust me, it's way more entertaining to see the hero die than to see him waiting for an elevator for over 10 seconds.

I tested it and in the second level it seemed that dying would be faster, but bad elevator movement canceled out that improvement. Thanks for all your comments and votes and thanks to sgrunt for the encode!

This movie is f***ing awesome!!! Seriously, it's brilliant, and it's one of my strongest yes votes, since it obsoletes a run by a large amount of frames and entertainment. I love it how you can just barely get back in the elevator after opening an adjacent door. I love the elevator glitching. The movie was overall funny because of that. Humm I hadn't read the whole submission text and it sure is funny. YES, please add subtitles to insert a little story telling on each level. Congrats, Guybrush.
