Addams family is a very long platformer for the SNES, which is also very difficult in real time. With tools, both of those thing change.
This is a 753 frame improvement over the previous published run: [1411] SNES The Addams Family by Kyman, Sonikkustar in 03:19.35

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: snes9x-1.43-rerecording-v17
  • Aims for fastest time
  • Takes no damage
  • Abuses programming errors
  • Dances to the music
  • Stabs a woman

Tricks & Adresses used

All of the tricks and memory adresses used in this run can be found at GameResources/SNES/AddamsFamily

Comments

We started this run when I noticed you could get the shoes twice and then get the sword and quit and continue and end up at the main door, which only saved 20 or so frames but it was something. Then Sonikkustar noticed you can skip the piranha room and warp out of the room after it, which saved around 10 seconds. The rest of the savings is from optimization of the speed. Also listen closely in the treasury ;)

Suggested Screenshots

Frames 10931
Anyways, enjoy the run!

Very short, very glitchy, and it looked very optimized. I enjoyed watching it too, so here's a yes vote from me.

I must approve with my man, Randil. Short & sweet, just how we like it. Another yes.

OK, that was an awesome three minutes of lightning-fast gameplay no less entertaining than the Mario 3 tas. A quality run for sure. YES!
Oh, play it cool. Play it cool. Here come the space cops.

Enjoyable, short, and it's an improvement on an existing run. What's not to like? I'll tell you: that creepy little grin that Gomez wears all the time. Eeegh.

Stylistically, I like the occasional upward stabs. They make Gomez look even more badass about how he runs through the stages with no worries. This little bit of the game makes it look like a full run (doing all the "stages") would be cool, but I imagine it would get pretty repetitive.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Very fast, glitchy, and overall entertaining. I had watched the previous run not too long ago and enjoyed it, so seeing this was pretty nice. Very nostalgic, by the way.

It's no wonder Gomez taps his foot so impatiently during the credits, considering how he sprinted through the game. Only thing I didn't like were the weird expressions on Gomez' and Morticia's faces during the ending... Eeesh. Really enjoyed it. :> EDIT: Oh wow, and I have enough posts to vote, so yes!

Good run, but it oddly feels really, really long for being only three minutes long. Regardless, I approve. Also, I recognize the cave song as being a remix of the cave song found in the NES Addams Family; is there some other Addams leitmotif I am unfamiliar with?
A hundred years from now, they will gaze upon my work and marvel at my skills but never know my name. And that will be good enough for me.

Agreed, it does feel long, but this is one of my favorite video games to watch TASes of. I've seen all 3 versions. I could swear I saw mistakes but maybe it is for luck manipulation? I don't know. Anyways, it is very impressive exploiting nice glitches. So I say YES leaning more towards MEH

Where do you see mistakes...? There is no luck manipulation in this run.
