"Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence."
During the Ganon battle, right after recovering the Master Sword, Bloobiebla does a forward thrust slash on Ganon's tail instead of a jumpslash/something that has the power of a jumpslash. This is remedied by using a Power Crouch Stab (jumpslash power) instead.
In other words, the Youtube version uses six attacks to take down Ganon while the final product uses five.
Oh I see, ya I noticed that, I thought maybe it was same amount of attacks though.

A bit off-topic, but does anyone have the "useful" MHS addresses for OoT? Like X/Y/Z Position, Angles and such?
I think TASVideos should seriously consider making a own "MHS" section that posted useful addresses for individual games.
Link Horizontal Speed "00AC7E08" (Float)
Angle Link is facing "00AC7694" (Unsigned Short)
Angle Link is moving "00AC7E0E" (Unsigned Short)
X Coordinates "00AC760C" (Float)
Y Coordinates "00AC7604" (Float)
Z Coordinates "00AC7608" (Float)
You can also download them in .lssave format here.
These only work with the pausefix version of Mupen
The guy who made the last run with the JAP ROM made a new run:
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm11786255
He now claims 48:27.00
Can someone check and see if this is legit?
Well if he took the intro out and then didn't include it in the time then it can't be seen as valid. But I can't really be arsed to time it right now :P
I highly doubt the J version can skip the intro. It was only released 2 days before the US iirc, its not something they would take out in such a short amount of time. He could be using the debug rom though which can skip cutscenes.
If we assume the intro can't be skipped, that would put the time at about 51:30. The US version loses 6+ minutes from text, which means bloobs run is still better.
Just compared the two side-by-side.
The Japanese TAS copies Bloob's route almost completely. The only differences is that the Japanese TAS doesn't get a Deku Stick, and so loses time in places because of its absence, and a few overall rupee differences (example: It doesn't use the Potion Shop grotto chest in Kakariko, gets the blue rupee in the Kokiri Forest shop). The gameplay is pretty sloppy in places compared to Bloob's.
So yeah, slower than Bloob's.
Actually the author explained the deku stick thing is due to faster text making getting it slower.
And I tried the Japanese version and the intro cannot be skipped as suspected.
This puts the run at ~51:31 with intro and ~58 with the text difference. It is indeed slower.
You didn’t need to introduce the run. Abeshi has been a member, so if the time had come, he would do it.
The runs on nicovideo include this have been made for the audience on the site not for the people on the TASVideos. So I basically think that they should not be introduced without their permission. If they’d like to inform their run, they will register this site and do it.
About intro skip:
Why don’t you read his discription, “)谷( <OPはカットしとるぞ。どうせワシの話など誰も聞かんじゃろう。”? It’s ridiculous to explain. Well, the intro was cut because of the limited size and no one was going to watch it. And although the intro was cut, the record was not subtracted, iirc, so 48mm27ss is the accurate record. I checked. I was wrong, sorry.
Here is my honest feedback about the run. I guess he wouldn’t use TAS input plugin, so the degree of optimization was a little less. The run is so identical with bloob’s that you needn’t watch, but I noticed three small tricks were his original. First is not buying Deku Stick as is mentioned above. It’s available only in (J) ver. because of the short text messages. Second is throwing cucco at the same time you take leap. Third is superslide after getting the big boss key at the Ganon’s Tower. These things should be respected. Besides these, bloob himself demonstrates “Forest escape without hovering nor ISG.” So even faster bloob’s run is now improvable.
Sorry, Abeshi, but your run is now known, so I complement without your permission.
When the first abeshi’s run was submitted, many criticisms occurred. He decided to submit not because he’d like to but because some member suggested him to do so. So too many criticisms are very rude. Why did not they suggest providing .m64 file instead of submitting? Many other audience and lurkers think so even now. Don’t take these sentences bad. Maybe the reason he has not introduced the run is there. He would not like to cause friction, so did I and so did you.
I agree with this guy. I think both runs are awesome! (his and bloobs).
Maybe bloob can hex in Abeshis improvements in his run?
I find it great that Abeshi and Bloob are pushing eachother to make OoT as awesome as possible :D
I didn't read the description and this is the result :(
The Deku Tree predicted my every move :(
I didn't know about the whole friction thingy the first time around. Reading through the last few pages of this thread has convinced me that what I did was wrong.
Please just enjoy the run without criticizing it :)
I think is impossible to do one at a standard that would be accept worthy.
Do you think that it would be boring? I am sure that I would enjoy it.

If it were done with the same standard as the one at SDA, it probably would be accepted. I'm not sure if that run uses RBA or BA, but you'd have to enter all of the temples for the skulltulas anyway. I'd be very interested in seeing a run like this.
