My First submission to the TASVideo's community however I have been doing a few personal TASes to get used to the tools and comfortably use them.
I attempted this TAS after becoming once-again addicted to the All Your Base Craze. I play on the hardest setting and have 1 life to begin with (so in the intial level, if I die. I'm dead.)
I use the blue power-up in this TAS for 2 reasons.
  1. It is the only power-up you can get to its fullest power by the first mini-boss.
  2. It is the strongest, The red fires 3 at a time, the green fires 3 sets at a time and home, The blue fires 3 beams each with 5 shots to them
At the beggining the movie is a little slow and boring however later on it does pick up in speed and Personally becomes more entertaining
This movie aims to:
  • Keep the user entertained, moving to the music, randomly and even following parts of the background while waiting for enemies to appear
  • Take no damage
  • Abuse poor hit-boxes

adelikat: Rejecting, reasons are in my post in the discussion forum. There seems to be a lot of agreement that this is a poor game for TASing. Better luck next time.

adelikat: Accepting for publication to the Vault
FractalFusion: Replaced movie file with itself since parser bug was fixed (initially timed as if it was NTSC when it should be PAL).

I believe we already received a Zero Wing submission which was shot down. Shooters aren't good TASes because they're almost all the same every time, meaning the one or two shooters we already have are probably going to stay there alone. I might try watching this anyway, in hopes of being pleasantly surprised, but I doubt this will go anywhere--it IS over an half hour long, at least three times too long to have a shot at publication. I truly wish you luck on your next TAS of a more viewable game, though!

Yeah, this was pretty dull to watch. Also, as far as I could tell, you didn't make any use of the tractor beam, which is another minus. Voting No. At the very least, this probably worked nicely to get used to TAS control, so you can get started on a different game now if you desire.

a word of advice: don't try to speedrun a game that auto-scrolls.

I had noticed that, this run is 20 seconds faster.

I saw little point using the tractor beam when I could use the side-shooters. It doesn't make things any more entertaining in my opinion

Taken to the heart. In general though would it not be a good idea to at least have one approved to show that the game had been done? Admittedly there are bad reviews here but if the bad reviews are seen by everyone who thinks to try the game, they know people do not find it a interesting TAS

I could always give it a try sometime, obviously having to research it a little as it's a golden rule not to get caught out of the know how on a game :) what console was this for?

If you noticed the previous submission then you also noticed this:

If you had seen the fate of most of the movies for auto-scroller games you wouldn't be so surprised. They are usually deemed too uninteresting and eventless to be considered for publication. In the case of this game, even more so, because the only interesting part is the intro, which of course is skipped in a speedrun. If you do want to make a movie of an autoscroller, some pointers: - show off everything you can in the game, for example all the weapons - play with death - you did this sometimes - keep some homing enemies alive (unless it causes slowdown) and just avoid them - kill the bosses as fast as possibe (i.e. save the bomb for them) A suggestion for a game: Bio-hazard, 2 player. It has a lot of weapons (8 if you play 2 players), and interesting shield-swinging acrobatics. This is no guarantee that people will like it of course, but I think it has better chances than this. For the record I voted no.
While this run is 20 sec faster, these words still apply.
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

You didn't get any super powerups?!? I know for sure that you can get one early on first stage. Those should help you get past boos monsters faster? Well I'm going to watch this to the end before judging.

I really would have liked to see other weapons in use too. Also the fourth (super) powerup. Therefore my vote is no. It was fun to watch once... Games of this type are extremely hard to make entertaining as TAS. Thanks for the one time run anyways. :)
