did you suicide on the bonus level? did you keep the first boss on screen? did you kill the bees at level 2 and the zapping robots using the hovering vehicle? all those are shortcuts

i watched your version 3. (version4 is saying "wrong movie format" i dont know why. and the major thing i have to say is why dont you run and kick enemies lying on the ground? it does kill in one hit, you know?

Hmm.. I do that run kick in my Version 4. I dont understand why its not working in your emulator. I think i kill the final boss at 21 minutes, and the rest is the ending. If you could try to download my run V4, and see if i can make it faster, it would help. I cant really see it anywhere that would improve it a whole lot. I would like the movie to be judged maybe? see if its good enough yet to make it pass or if i still need to Perfect it more. Not a whole lot i can do thats Super-Human with the game. except maybe like what i done on the bike stage, going as far right as possible. Edit: Ill advise viewers to download my timeattack and please comment before i submit it to the judges. Ill post the site again. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/10/BattleRunV4.smv Try at all possible to watch and comment.

I went through it once, and here's my list of obvious suggestions.
  • Make sure you hit everything at the earliest opportunity. It looks like some of the pigs were moving around too much before being whacked.
  • The bi-directional slam looks effective, but wouldn't it be faster to knock them both down and then do the one-hit-kill on them?
  • Couldn't you kill yourself faster in the bonus game if you collided with the rats?
  • On a similar note, you could also collide with more black pins/dominos to do it during the second bonus round.
  • During the Rat Race, you start heading in the wrong direction for a brief moment on many occasions.
  • Overall, it's a bit boring to watch. You just stand there most of the time and don't do anything while you wait for some event. For example, on the first level waiting for the Lava Bombs to land on you. Don't just stand there, run around a bit. Panic! Entertain us!
You don't need to memorize the entire layout of the game when you play. That's what the slowdowns, save-states and pause buttons are for. Do it a few milliseconds at a time if you have to. The SMV will play back at full speed, and it'll look much better. Don't be intimidated if the microstorage script shows a rerecord count of 2000. It's to be expected.

there are cases where it is faster indeed to not do that move at all, just jump knock enemy down, kick in 1 hit and then same for the other enemy. unless they require 2 hits to die, then do that move twice to kill both.

rats only take away score, they do no damage.

yes he can, i have managed to hit 3 pins that were coming at the same time by moving upwards. so he can hit 3, then 3, then 2 and die (has 8 heart points)

Hmm.. Well now i think i may need to make a Version 5 :). V4 was all played on 100% speed. Maybe ill try slowing this one down making every jump perfect and every hit quick:) thx for the comments Dehacked. And By the way. I like your atack on Megaman X. i enjoyed it.

and btw, there would be no reason to submit it as the run i did was faster :S but good luck on the next one, use speed below 25% always.

Ok, thx to you too foda. when i beat the final boss, my time is around 21 minutes, not 22. so.. if i can make adjustments to the guides you two have gave me.. im sure i can pull off a 19 minute run. 20 minutes for sure.

FODA: Okay, I didn't play the game through myself. Thanks for the info. About the bidirectional smacking: there were some enemies who took 4 hits from it to go down. Those are the ones who would benefit from my suggestions. You're probably right about the ones who only need two smackings.

i just watched my own run and i gotta say its really boring. especially the auto scrolling levels. i really doubt a 1-player run can be entertaining, but maybe you can find really interesting things to do while waiting (except for level 5, there i think the only entertaining thing to do would be go as slow as possible without dying, but that is slower than going as fast as possible, its a pseudo-autoscrolling level). good luck again

ok i finished watching level 1. here is what: jump and kick to knock down enemies and then use the single hit to terminate them. OR use the jump and kick move to simply kill the weakest enemies. its better than running back and forth. you want to make a hard game look easy, not the other way around. do what dehacked said, dont do that same move 4 times in a row on the same 2 enemies, instead knock them and finish them off in 1 hit each. kill black pigs in 1 hit as fast as possible, they fall from ledges all you have to do is finish them, dont let them get up you can manipulate the way the fireballs fall. i think it would be funny to stand still and hold right for 1 frame and then stand still again, if you hold right at the right frame the fireball will fall to your side because it falls ahead of movement. play ping pong with the boss. jump kick to the right, run past him and jump kick to the left. repeat untill defeated. dont wait for him to come walking towards you, you should barelly let him stand up. if at all

- level 2: deal with bees faster. using the sideways hit (stand on the wall and throw your hover) the second batch of 4x4 bees should be dealt the same way kill the small zapping robots using the sideways hover attack. it kill in 1 "hit" - bonus level: suicide faster. you can hit 2 black pins at the same time if you stand in the middle of them EDIT: i realized that all those things are already in my movie, try to get it to work.

Ok.. I have my Version 5 done. It is faster then FODA's movie by a few seconds. I dont die. I dont get hit. I clear Bonus rounds as fast as possible. I run around scared in level 1. I kill monsters quickly. I play pong with the level 1 final boss. i kill the bees quicker in level 2. I dont know much more i can do. Watch it and tell me anything else you guys wanna see or what else i can do. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/11/BattleRunV5.smv

Ok.. i got my final one done. I really dont think i can make it any faster. but, what i need to ask you guys, is if I should include the ending where i shoot the space shuttle, cause i dont really need to do it, its just part of the credits. so, do you guys think its necessary? it adds on a minute and 10 seconds.

If it's necessary to win the game, then add it. If you can technically "win" but get a bad ending, then you could do that and say that this movie does not get the best ending. But I say include it. It makes the run more complete.

it has to include the shooting because if you dont then the ending will take longer to end. the aim will just swing up and down till he goes away. test it if its slower, i'm almost sure it is. so, yes kill the ship

well.. Like i said before, I have made level 1 2 seconds quicker. Ive got level 2 done. Its 5 seconds quicker, plus, I try to satisfy the viewers needs. One viewer wanted me to Juggle a bee to get a life. Done. Another one wanted me to not punch my way around everything. Done. I didn't want myself to get hit by that snake and still save time. Done. Someone else wanted me to stay towards the bottem while Auto-Scrolling through the spike maze. Done, Except for the last part, im not fully down there, but closer. Bonus round 1: Someone wanted to see me 'Collect' the pins instead of just dodging them. Done, but i still Kill myself as quick as possible. Level 3-4-5 are Basically still the same, and so is Bonus round 2. thats as far as i am right now.

Sounds great. Are you planning a two-player version as well?

Hmm.. Planning a 2 player attack. Well that is a good question. I am not very good at using frame advance, so a 2 player is very hard for me. But, I was thinking of getting a partner. If all works out, Me and my partner will do a 2 player time attack. but as for now, I am still finishing my 1 player as rash.

But i think i can still improve by a move i discovered. so.. if you want me to post up my run here, just say so. ill check back in a while. i gotta try to make the boss faster
