Dooty, maybe it has something to do with resetting too soon after the first ending? Let the first ending play out completely and see what happens to the % score.

Dooty, After some testing, I'm assuming you encountered the glitch where the game freezes if you try to enter a different Wrinkly's Cave. The fix for this would be to save just one time at any point in the run (probably fastest to do this right at the beginning when you enter her cave automatically). This will prevent the freeze from happening and you can just enter Wrinkly's Cave in Mekanos instead of returning the Gyrocopter and stuff.
Yes, and it also fixed the 102% issue; http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/825492350/DKCIII.smv I guess we are good to go now; - the nickname will be TAS - we must save when we enter the first Wrinkly house - we must collect 55 Bear Coins (but the Tyrant Twin Tussle one instead of Rompey Rumpus) - do the Boomer trick and then the bartering I guess we all agree with that, but what if we each do the same stage at the same time and then continue from the fastest one, and then the next stage and so on? I think it would be faster to complete our run this way. /I started it anyway, and I'll send it to you as soon as I finish Lakeside Limbo.

Have you given any consideration to submitting your testrun, Dooty? I'm no expert on DKC3, admittedly, but it looked optimized enough to meet site standards to me, aside from the new tricks you discovered in the course of making it.

I don't think it would make sense, he's already working on a more proper run, it would get obsoleted soon

And the testrun is very unoptimised at a few places. I didn't even care to mention some obvious stuff because of it. So yeah, if he was going to submit the testrun, it would be rejected at once. Dooty: You shouldn't keep me among the authors though, as I didn't contribute anything to your testrun and I haven't really had any plans to do so either, in case you want me to =P.

@ boct1584; thankyou, but um... better not; ALAKTORN is more than right, a proper run is under construction right now. Tompa is also right; I didn't manipulated the Green Banana Bonus, just finished them, the boss fights are reused or adapted and are far from optimal, the Boomer glitch was discovered after the completion of the test run, some Bear Coins will be skipped while others collected, the movement on the map will be changed amongst other small things, so don't expect this test run to be submitted... but he is wrong about his contribution to this test run, as I reused alot of his and ElectroSpecter's wips. (up to Low G. Labyrinth)

Okay. I'm doing this run along with ElectroSpecter, but please, feel free to join us any time you want :)

While Donkey Kong Country 3 is a hot topic right now, I wonder if ElectroSpecter is still considering on finishing that any% WIP. I would love to try out TASing this series some day and maybe consider continuing the improvement. Anyways, Im watching that full game WIP, and it is awesome. Please for the love of god, finish this Dooty.

Sonik, my published run of the any% is definitely improvable by a bit, if you were interested at ever taking a crack at it.

Err...On second thought, scratch that. I dont think I would do this game justice XD. Back to Sonic for me! Anyways, Hows progress Dooty? Im now really, really, REALLY looking foward to this. p.s. This should take DKC2's 102% star when done. ;) EDIT:...Yeah, Judging from this test I just did, I dont think I could TAS this at all. It would have had better speed management, but I havent found any documentation of any RAM addresses. Im not sure why. :\

about the prgress, ElectroSpecter is doing Door Stop Dash at the moment, but also testing Wrinkly's Save Cave, looks like we don't have to save the game, just talk to Wrinkly.

Just a small correction; ElectroSpecter is not working on this run anymore, sadly. People seem to like my test run, so I'll reuse some parts of it while improving some other parts, this way I can progress faster since I'm working alone now. /ElectroSpecter's idea of using Dixie in Skida's Row saved ~15 frames even she being slower than Kiddy in this stage; there's less lag near the flag in the previous stage, and there's no need to do a normal switch in the next one.

I'd like to request a couple speed-for-entertainment tradeoffs, if you're willing. 1. Don't use the warp barrels at all. They're already used in the any% run, and while they do shorten the levels they're used in, they also deprive us of seeing part of those levels. 2. Take the time to jab a couple of Gleamin' Breems in Floodlit Fish so we can actually see what you're doing without having to turn the brightness and contrast on our monitors all the way up.

about warp barrels, I'm not sure if it would be possible, Squeals On Wheels for example, would take twice as long to complete without the warp. but poke the Gleaming Breems in Floodlit Fish looks doable without wasting too much time, I'll see what I can do, thanks for your ideas, and sorry about the warps.

congrats, for the movie dooty you rock. just an observation, theres no need to turn around the rocks twice to open krematoa, if i remember well just one turn, while beeping (pressing slect button), will rise the secret world.

1. Kinda useless really... There are only warps in the two first worlds. And all of them won't even be used, as it's slower in a 105% run. 2. Persons who know the game probably knows some of the map. And you can turn off the transperency effects (Even though this shows an ugly sideeffect...) to get some light to the level. I just don't think it adds anything really entertaining to be able to see more of the level like that.

um... I'm forced to agree with him too; every time Enguard pokes one of those Gleamin' Breems he bounces back and loses all of his descending speed, so it's better to leave them alone. /Speaking of leaving alone, the green banana bonus in Barrel Shield Bust-Up can not be manipulated, no matter how many frames I wait, the last banana is always in the top left corner.

Dooty, have you tried hexediting so that you enter the level later? (The entire level mind you, not just the bonus barrel). I used to have to do this to manipulate the bananas on a few stages. It usually worked by waiting around 20 frames, sometimes less, sometimes a lot more (which was only helpful in cases where the bonus absolutely sucked in terms of luck, like the Springin' Spiders one).

Thanks, I just tested it, but still the same (bad) luck, first banana in the top right corner and the last banana in the top left corner. /weird, even unassisted the luck is still the same, I guess those banana bonuses were programed by K. Rool himself... //bested by a test run? maybe... ///38 frames slower than the test run, sorry but it's the best I can do since there's no (known) way to manipulate this bonus. ////I'm doing Riverside Race now, and I can't complain about my luck on the banana bonus here; not perfect, but almost all bananas, except the penultimate, spawn in appropriate places, not bad :) (some of them can be manipulated by turning in the opposite direction for one frame)

I was overcome by those banana bonuses, so it will be just a "Director's Cut" version of my test run from now on, here's a wip: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1534584974/Dooty-DKC3-105p.smv

Looks good. Evil Tompa will just point out a few improvements. In Springin' Spiders, when you sacrifice Dixie, if you hold B when you get the control of Kiddy, you'll hit the ceiling. This will give you some more speed and reach the bonus barrel four frames earlier. The next is the second bonus in Bobbing Barrel Brawl. If you jump and press A two frames later, you'll pick up Dixie on your sholder, but you'll be slightly higher up so that you can grab the coin without jumping afterward. This saves 3 frames at this place. The same trick can also be done when switching characters in case you want to be higher up. Experience with this =). If you grab the patch from Arich while you are falling, instead of when you are jumping, you'll save one frame. And you could have better positioning to save another 4 frames, for a total of 5. The second bonus in Kreeping Klasps can be entered faster if you down into the water instead of the path you took into the barrel. Saved around 6-7 frames I believe. But considering that you have both Kongs, as you have to wait for one of them, it might be a longer wait time from the water, not sure. As the game isn't the hexfriendly, I don't expect you to fix these things, but I'm mentioning anyway. Very nice WIP so far! Keep it up.

Tompa, you beat me to this one. Sort of. My suggestion was to try to squeeze past the Zinger with Dixie to the left so that you can use the ledge to hit Kiddie's head off of. If this doesn't work, just do what Tompa said :p Also, one minor note, the second time you enter Squeals on Wheels, you can throw the first keg sooner if you jump (the game lets you release Y a bit sooner if you jump first). This is the only time I noticed this happening, but you might want to check other spots.
