Yeah. By the way.

Sorry, we can't ask Plato what to TAS either. He's been dead for about 2500 years.

Since I do not have much time to TAS something due be judging to RL things. I would be willing to help out in any way possible, whether it be voting or game choice.

So yes, you're exactly correct.

Hey, people, let's share expectations. Here's hoping that final run will be less than 15 minutes. And I'm personally rooting for Team 1! Go, romhacking powa!

Nice teams, I really have no idea who will win but it will be interesting to see. I have a question: Since the winning TAS must be submitted to the site, what would happen in the event of a tie? Would both teams submit their video and vote on which one is more entertaining? Also if this information is posted somewhere, I apologize. Anyway good luck to the teams!
Current thoughts: Hachiemon (J) for GBA.

Considering how much random lag there is in this game, I wouldn't count on there being a tie.

Even though a tie is unlikely I think there should be a rule for it (for future DTC's if nothing else). Here is a suggestion of how it could look: - The tied teams split the first place in DTC. - Both movies are submitted. A time limit of 1 week is set. The viewers vote for which movie they like better esthetically. Yes is +1 point, No is -1 point, Meh is 0 points. The viewers' votes must be respected.

I suggest another rule: NO NES GAMES ALLOWED they just make boring frame wars

did I stutter NES games are way too simple and linear.

You mean that for NES games it's so simple to find which strategies, tricks and glitches you are to use for each situation that in the end they're basically only about frame optimization? Last year, a couple of individual TAS competions where hold - http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9971 - where two contests saw multiple submissions, Megaman 4 for NES and Klonoa for GBA and the later became much more of a frame war than the former. I'd say it's more game-specific than console-specific.

All platforms can have "press right to win" games, and all can have interesting strategic (not meaning genre) games. If Rockin' Kats were dull straightforward game it would be frameperfected long ago.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

The only competition is who can make more deliberately abuse the emulator, I never heard of something like this should be called as strategy.

What an odd generalization. Perhaps "most NES games are simple and linear" would be correct, but certainly not all of them. Metroid, castlevania and the different JRPGs (such as the Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior series) are well-known examples.

You might agree with me if I say that there are plenty more games for the NES that fit the 'simple and boring' category than for any other system accepted here in this community.

That game is just intolerable, unplayable, despicable and to me, electronic Rohypnol.

There's a difference between simple-looking games and games that are simple to make a high quality TAS of. I can't think of many NES games that fit the second criterion. Anyway my main point, for future contests, is that you should pick a game by judging the TAS potential of it, not what system it's for.

pirate_sephiroth, I assume you haven't played it as I did in childhood. One of the most diverse NES games with cool video & audio. But okay, don't wan't to start a flamewar instead of framewar.

partycated NitrodonE forfeits. I'm not sure any other submissions will happen.

Uh, as mentioned in the submission, one team already has. Acmlm and Kumquat have said they finished one, but haven't submitted one yet.
