Contrary to common belief, Super Mario Bros can be completed without pressing B at all, even without warping as well.
This is a sidestroller, speedwalk, or whatever you want to call it.
Thanks to mugg and his marvelous idea that fixed out the problem which have been puzzling people from completing this run for a long time.
Thanks to HappyLee for helping me a lot on this movie, and using bullet glitch in walkathon movies so that I can save a lot of time in many stages such as 5-1.
Thanks to klmz for finding vine glitch and it brings 294 frames' improvement than with out it.

Level By Level explanations:

1-3
I choose to get the mushroom in this level. With its help I go into the ground and save 63 frames.
2-1
Use vine glitch here, 84 frames saved.
3-1
Use vine glitch here, 126 frames saved.
3-2
Go into the ground with help of koopa and save 63 frames.
3-3
Use the balance lift to go into ground and save 63 frames.
4-2
I went into the pipe for shortcut, 61 frames saved. I'm puzzled why it's not 63 frames. And I slow down a little to avoid fireworks.
4-3
I make some improvement here but I've not counted how many frames were saved.

Here I'll introduce how can I get through such a long distance:

By jumping backwards into any object Mario can move closer to the right side of the screen without scrolling..Mixing this with the turning around faster trick (pressing left/right one frame) can bring maximum distance so that the first gap will not disappear. As we all know, if you land on a shell that is flying in mid-air within the two rows of blocks at the bottom of the screen, a glitch will take place: The shell will be stopped from moving and will just behave as if it was on the ground. It will even walk through the floor if it is set up in a certain way. So we can place the shell into the gap and it will walk through the groud so that we can use it to get through here.
5-1
Bullet glitch, 147 frames saved.
5-2
Bullet glitch, 126 frames saved.
5-3
Go into the ground and save 63 frames.
5-4
I slow down a little before bowser, 21 frames slower here, for the bowser jumps too high if I don't slow down.
6-2
Vine glitch, 84 frames saved.
7-1
Bullet glitch, 147 frames saved.
8-2
Bullet glitch, 168 frames saved.
8-3
Bullet glitch, 189 frames saved.
8-4
With HappyLee's help I get 1 frames faster than this movie by better walljumping in the first stage.

Nach: This run was well played, and was quite entertaining. Excellent response. I'm accepting it. The only question is whether it should obsolete the existing run or not.
In general, for any warped vs. unwarped run, two branches make sense as there's usually significant differences between the two in items collected that modify how the levels are played out. People also want to know the fastest possible record, as well as the fastest record for doing everything.
This run includes everything the warped run has, leaving little for the warped run itself to show off. As to the first detail, the only significant item SMB offers in warped vs. unwarped is the fireflower. Since the fireflower cannot be used in a B-less run, the difference in items doesn't exist. As for the second, people to my knowledge have not been interested in any records for beating the game B-less. The only thing I've seen people wonder in terms of beating the game B-less is if it could be done at all or not. This run answers that question very well, and demonstrates every single level in the game can be beaten B-less. Therefore, I am accepting this as an obsoletion of the warped B-less run.

Looking entertaining and technically outstanding, yes vote, and I'm supporting it to be a new strategy that published here.
Recent projects: SMB warpless TAS (2018), SMB warpless walkathon (2019), SMB something never done before (2019), Extra Mario Bros. (best ending) (2020).

This video shows a lot of techniques, and the entertaining is, of course, better than HappyLee's 500 pts run. This video took Mars, HL and other contributors much time to complete. If I could vote, I would have voted Yes. But there is one problem: are we making too many videos about Super Mario Bros. 1? The techniques shown in this video can be found in other videos about SMB1. Even it's entertaining enough, this will still make others feel bored. I remember that a long time ago in a galaxy not so far away, there is a rejected Hard Relay Mario submission in TASV. And the reason for rejection: the time waiting for a koopa shell is too long, so it's not so entertaining. But, in my opinion, instead of just keeping the Air2 run, this run should have been approved and published: this run shows what you can do with walls, koopas etc., sometimes even without the help of hidden coin blocks, etc. Its publishing is absolutely much better then the publishing of the Air2 run. Uh, what have I been talking about? About the publishing of this run, the Air2 run and the HRM run? Well definitely not. If a 'Non-powerup, non-Yoshi, warpless' Super Mario World run can be published, this run also can. I just want to say that entertaining can not only be judged in the traditional way. You need to consider a lot of factors, and the 'proportions' of the factors. PS: I'm mariohacker in the Baidu Forum.

Will vote after I'm done watching. Edit: I suddenly need to go, but from what I watched, its certainly different from the normal warpless run (other than not running of course). It was entertaining so far, so I'll vote yes. Oh, and nice use of glitches! :)

Goodness me, was that a slow run. However, it contained a bunch of neat tricks and managed to do something long thought impossible. Yes vote, with the request to obsolete the warped walkathon, for this one offers more bang for its buck.

Great run! The shell glitch in 4-3 was surprising, and the vine glitch was entertaining too. Yes vote!

Disclaimer: I have not yet watched this run. I think that having one walkathon on the site is enough - the current warped run can be seen to largely be a subset of this run. Since this apparently improves on several of the levels that are identical in both runs, I think that if this run is accepted, it should obsolete the current walkathon.

That seems sensible, and I may consider that. I'd like to know everyone else's opinions.

I'll agree with everything here. I very much enjoyed the slower pace of this run.

The idea of walkathon, to me, does not represent speed. Therefore I do not see why a full and warped version are necessary. This video walks better than the warped walk, and walks through all eight worlds to boot. Having both a warp walk and full walk so it mirrors the SMB run categories is not a good enough reason in my book.

I think it should obsolete the published walkathon run. This run has more content and new glitches, and like boct1584 said, moves at a slow enough pace to take everything in.

Whenever I see a single no vote on an obviously-yes submission like this one, I always figure it's the usual vote troll that always votes no on every (popular?) submission, and pretend that the one no vote doesn't exist. :p

This category itself is novel and a good example of the TAS community at its best. This should be an impossible category, but through collaboration a very creative and impressive strategy was worked out to beat 4-3. I think this is an impressive movie to publish on this site. This movie is filled with a lot of other awesome moments as well of course, and I found it very entertaining. Thank you. As for categories, the 4-3 solution here is more novel than all the warped run combined. And like others have said, this movie offers everything the warped run does and more. Thus I vote in favor of it obsoleting the warped run.

Obvious yes. Even if it wasn't Mario. Also adding my support for this to obsolete the current walkathon for reasons previously mentioned.

Either this, or not be published. We seriously don't need 50 Super Mario Bros 1 variations on this site.

Why do they need 50 variations of running on olympics? I think SMB is good enough for having a lot of different categories and videos... +D Voting Yes, but I thought about voting Meh, .. mostly because it is long, and some stages have little to no entertainment due to some techniques already been shown off on previous stages.... o.o
