Can be done on the 3ds version. It's about 7-8 minutes faster than VC version. This still would not warrant a new category.

Why should this be a different category? Because it corrupts memory? The published run already does that.

Random useless text wall: I had an idea that the reason that using the mushroom timer to cs skip deku crashed was that it was activating a bad wrong warp. Actually, I think this is likely the case but because I haven't seen the timer ever wrong warp you anywhere I don't know for sure. It's possible there are more non-rba wrong warps out there? Odd Mushroom is a crash, unless it was always a previous cutscene thing. I tried Eyeball Frog just now and got a crash (could be a previous cutscene thing but none of the zora domain wrong warps seem like they should lead anywhere with the right amount of maps). Eye-drops is probably the same entrance as Eyeball Frog but IDK for sure. Regardless I tried it and crashed. There's a random lakeside lab entrance that might lead to Ganondorf death scene, and I was hoping that would be after failing the eye drop timer, but I kinda knew before I checked that it would bring me back to king zora. There's another timer that I know of in Ganon's Tower, and it is possible to take this timer with you to the fire temple boss room (requires you to preset FW in the room before the boss) and then CS skip by equipping the goron tunic with good timing (or at least it seemed like it would have worked had I not beaten the fire temple on that file already). If you fail the timer it takes you to your last exit so right now the only place you can WW with it is from fire temple->fire temple boss to a bad cutscene crash at what would have been lake hylia (I haven't tested the ww part though, I just used a file I had to test whether or not it was possible in theory). So so far I'm not seeing other WW's without RBA besides death. :/ This is probably the wrong site to be posting this kind of thing. :p

Well, there's arguments for and against this. Personally, I think the arguments for are much stronger from a utilitarian point of view and Kantian. This doesn't need to be discussed here though. Perhaps, a new thread should be created, as it seems a be a very controversial issue with many people for and against.

Warp to ganon as child from deku tree was apparently just found. It froze, but the theory is that you just need to watch the right cs first. edit: they got it. You OI into the warp in deku tree, walk out the door, and you warp to ganon's castle, after killing ganondorf. Looks like the route is going to be something like escape, get bottle, save warp, deku tree, ganon.

:) Title screen CS is no good as child, need a different CS. And now sock rolled into a boulder and crashed, lol. So who wants to argue about new categories again? :p

Deku Tree CS works. So tentatively it's intro, S&S, aquascape, kak, bottle + bugs, savewarp, deku, gohma, suicide to gohma on the same frame you kill her, re-enter her lair, OI WW, castle, Ganon. The TAS would probably skip sword and backflip over Mido or something. The Ganon fight works fine as child, you just use nuts for first form and MS as child for second form.

ZFG just beat the game in about 35:15. Tentative goal time for a TAS right now might be 20-25 minutes.

And here I was looking forward to a Ganonless TAS. Is that never going to happen now? ;(

Aren't we all glad now that we argued about Stick B for days and it's totally useless? :D

Mido there is unclip and unflipable for some reason. But TAS would probably use this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1FHOAZblHg

I think deku stick is quicker.

Now ZFG got a 26:? ... but TAS won't be much faster as console, as console times to last blow to Ganon and TAS times to last input and now we don't have that much time in which to gain on them.

Why do people keep saying this? You can't time something differently and say it's faster. An 18 minute SDA timed run will still be slower than a 20 minute tas.

Ofcourse I meant "TAS won't have a much faster time than a console run, when rated with their respective timing systems", Mr. semantic police. ;p

what ratio of gameplay:cutscenes does the new route have?

Hard to say. But the only real cutscenes in there are the Beginning cutscene where the deku tree talks to navi and the ending cutscene after killing Ganon. Everything else is really minor. Ganondorf dying here, Ganon resurecting there. No light arrow cutscene anymore, yay!

Wow, just saw the 23:29 run (SDA time). This game has really had some crazy finds lately, looking forward to the new TASes :)

some thought about MST (medaillons, stones, trials) run: I guess as long as we still finish all temples and beat ganon we are allowed to use wrong warping. We also planned the use the other wrong warps to forest temple and gerudo's training ground, so the one to ganon's castle seems as fine as the other ones. As we have to clear the trials anyway, there's no point in doing this warp at the end of the game to skip ganondorf. It probably would be slower than simply beating ganondorf. If anyone wonders, clearing the tower and beating ganondorf costs aroung 4 minutes. So leaving the tower after the trials, then travelling to deku tree and clearing it has to be compared to beating ganondorf. But here's another idea: We could do the Wrong Warp to Ganon's Tover as child and then Save+Reset to get to the beginning of the dungeon. That way we could get 20 bombchus from the spirit trial and thus skip the bottom of the well. There's still one thing left you could do as well: by leaving Ganon's Castle Child Link ends up in the normal hyrule castle map directly next to the crawling space, that leads inside of the castle. From there we can quickly obtain Lullaby without any time lost for travelling to the castle. Pretty crazy route, I guess :D

Would getting master sword as child (die during castle escape) be useful?

Hmm, using this route it probably wouldn't be useful. We die to skip the lullaby cutscene directly afterwards and as far as I can tell kokiri sword is automatically equipped after dieing/resetting as child. Maybe Master Sword is an exception, though. Somebody has to check this.

Now, this is something I want to see. If you can manage to "steal" a master sword, it'd be complete crazy stuff.

I don't think you ever lose ms as child, unless you unequip it, but i could be wrong.

You'd have to do a pretty wacky beamos hover to get the silver rupee off the ceiling in the Spirit Trial to get those 20 chus, but that's what TASes are for, I guess. Cool route.
