About the run

This is an improvement of current run by Atma and FractalFusion, I used Psxjin to make it, because Psxjin causes less lag frames than PCSX so that more inputs can be used in the run.
The most of improvements come from details, except opening stage, you can see the main improvement at the boss fight. The tricks and glitches are used just as they were used in the current run. You can find more informations in submission #2528: Atma & FractalFusion's PSX Mega Man X4 "Zero" in 36:42.63.
The run used a new trick which was found by Rolanmen1, one frame action can be made before refight “WARNING” appears, and “WARNING” appears as normal while you are making the action, but not for all refights. It is for moving ahead to boss with Ryuenjin, a few time is saved. WARNING is for bosses more than Zero himself.
I also made Raijingeki more useful at boss fights, it gives 4 damage to Slash Beast,Split Mushroom and Magma Dragoon in the last hit, and can be faster used in place of a second or third ground slash.
No other things changed but details.

Thanks

  • Atma and FractalFusion and their excellent run, I learned a lot from them.
  • Rolanmen1, for finding the nice trick.
That’s all, enjoy!

Nach: Judging.
FractalFusion: Replaced movie file with one that is 18 frames faster.

Nach: Very nice improvement. Accepting.

natt: Processing...

Having watched both of your WIPs, I'd say this is totally awesome. Great improvements to one of my favorite games indeed! Yes vote! Edit: Excuse me, but I can't wait to watch an encode for the last few levels. :)
Recent projects: SMB warpless TAS (2018), SMB warpless walkathon (2019), SMB something never done before (2019), Extra Mario Bros. (best ending) (2020).

Great TAS Bernka. I think that maybe there are some small improvements in the Last Sigma Fight. When you used Shippuga to take the energy refill, you can get a free Ryuenjin hit before Sigma dissapears. If this proves to be slower MAYBE you can avoid getting the energy refill in the whole fight (not sure how much HP you lost to the last fight). Oh, and btw, my nick is Rolanmen1 not Rolanman1 -_-.

Watched the encode (thanks, Guga!), and overall, I liked the run quite a lot. Zero's movement had quite a lot of elegance to it, and it is insane just how many enemies there are on what I presume is the hardest difficulty setting. Overall, this run gets a Yes vote for a very solid improvement to what already was a good run. Great Job.

This looks really good! (Thank you, ThatGugaWhoPlay, for the temp encode!) I have just one question though: in the run as X, you skip the midboss in Split Mushroom's stage. Why can't you skip that midboss playing as Zero?
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. You are right, Rolanmen1! I forgot to improve it when I noticed that before, thank you for the suggestion. Now it got improvement by 18 frames, here it is: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/884349875/MMX4-Zero-Bernka.pjm mklip2001: X can move faster than Zero with the Giga attack before meeting the miniboss, I think.

Why does Zero perform a Rakuhoha (ground flash attack) at around 21:10 in Slash Beast's stage? It's not an auto-scrolling segment at that part, so I'm scratching my head as to why it occurs.

It is an useless action, but it seems that I am wasting time. In fact no time wasted and no time saved. I did many tests about that and I found that however I get to the head of the truck as fast as I can, or pause a few time, it stops at the same time! I am definitely sure that it is not luck manipulation can change that, but I don't actually know how.

Thanks for the answer. I had considered the train running on a timer, but I just wanted to make sure.
