Putting aside Bisqwit's interest for crazy websites, I truly miss Ian Thorpe. I hope he will find a good psychologist who can help him with his fear of water (yes, it's true, I saw a nice documentary of him last night called Ian Thorpe The Swimmer where he states that he feels he is afraid of getting drowned whenever he goes in the water). I can't wait to see The Bolt Usain Bolt crush everyone :D I love that guy.
Some mailing lists. Didn't say these are sites I have collected or sought after by myself, nor that I agree or disagree with the content; just that I've heard of it.
The Chinese swimmer Ye Shiwen is being strongly accused of doping. This is based off her 400m Medley race. What was unusual about the race was not the fact she was 16 and broke the world record by over a second, but how fast she swimmed during the last 100 and especially 50 meters of the race. It was actually faster than Lochte's time. After he achieved the second fastest time of all time. Not only that, her first 100 was faster than Phelp's time. Nothing has been proven by the anti doping agentcy so far. Here's is a more in depth analysis of her race

I am going to enjoy the women's volleyball that is on US prime time right now.
Now if both beach and 'regular' volleyball were on at the same time, I'd have a hard time picking. Beach has superior costumes, while 'regular' has 6 ladies hugging after each point. It's hard to chose, so if such a scenario would occur, I'd watch them both. At the same time.
In other news a lot of things in these Olympics have pissed me off insanely. South-Koreans not bringing money so they can't object to incredibly strange desicions made by referees, and more importantly, what the fuck happened to the badminton-players who wanted the easier path in the play-offs? That's some lame bullshit to disqualify them.

I think that the most fair comparison would be to compare with the thing the catchers in baseball do with their fingers, i.e. adding pictures of men's crotches.

I continue to be saddened by the IOC not adding women's jello wrestling to the list of competitions.
And, after the recent badminton kerfluffle, I think that they should institute an anti-badminton event where the winning team is the one which is best at losing.

If it's a system that can be abused, it should be abused.
It's quite hard to claim that the players have gone against the Olympic Spirit, wouldn't being a slave to the Olympic Spirit disqualify every runner ever not going 100% for every micro-second of the race?
I would also like to know how there's any support for not allowing countries to bring more than 2 players to certain tournaments in any of the olympic rule books.
Imo.

Any comments on gymnastics? havent seen any of those.
Don't ever watch artistic gymnastics. It will make you feel labbbily blah nimmity nah. I'm kidding.
>_> dafuq? I watch that all the time and I don't feel like worse human trained ever or whatever you said. Didn't you see my signature?* I obviously saw women's all around.
Anywho, what is your favorite sport in the Olympics so far (this goes to everyone).

Anywho, what is your favorite sport in the Olympics so far (this goes to everyone).
I'll give my opinion on all the disciplines
1. Archery - Having tried it myself, I know how hard it is. However, it doesn't translate well into a spectator sport. I know the target is really far away (about 70m IIRC), but I wish it was further or played in windy areas to make getting a string of 10's feel more special.
2. Athletics - I think we can all agree that this is really what the olympics has always been about. I enjoy watching mid-distance running and high-jump the most.
3. Badminton - Used to play it a lot when I was younger. It is the fastest racket sport, but isn't completly broken as you can't really curve the shuttlecock. I find it hard to get into when you're not rooting for anyone.
4. Basketball - Couldn't care less about the sport, seems like it was put in as a sure way for the Americans to win gold every four years. Given that most of the players competing are already highly paid. It goes against the olympic spirit where winning a gold should be the Pinnacle of the respected sports persons career. However, I thinks its existence as an olympic sport is justified because its effectively the world cup of basketball.
5. Beach Volleyball - I've really tried to get into this for many years, but rallies are too uncompetitve especially in high level matches. They try to dress it up by sexualizing the sport and pumping out heavy tunes between points, but its not likely to convince me to watch it.
6. Boxing - Don't tend to watch earlier fights, but its one of the true olympic sports outside of athletics.
7. Canoe Slalom - I can appreciate the skill and training that goes into preparing for the event, but I rarely bat an eyelid at it.
8. Canoe Sprint - Isn't on till the middle of next week so I'll make my observations then
9. BMX - Ditto
10. Road Cycling - I actually enjoy watching this because it doesn't cost anything to spectate and like looking at the background and saying "Thats such and such", "I've been there before".
11. Track Cycling - I find this a mixed bag. I enjoyed watching elimination racing earlier today, but can't grasp whats going on in the duel sprint.
12. Diving - It takes an expert to know the difference between whats bad and exceptional. I wish I understood how all the juding criteria worked.
13. Equestrian - Dressage is hardcore :-D
14. Fencing - Sounds like a great sport in theory but fails miserably. No wonder the olympic comittee want to get rid of it.
15. Football - There is no reason for this to exist as an olympic even, for much the same reasons as basketball. Its purely a money spiner for the IOC.
16. Artistic Gymnastics - I've always been interested in this, but I'm starting to wonder if its begining to reach its limits in what gymnists can achieve. Like Cardboard alluded to earlier, there is a certain super human element that puts even competitors in other events to shame. Never mind people like us just watching it.
17. Rhythmic Gymnastics - Who cares
18. Trampoline Gymnastics - The height they achieve is scary, its like double what I can do in relation to my height. It seems to me whoever jumps the highest, thus have the most air time nearly always win.
19. Handball - Stupid and broken.
20. Hockey - Change the channel as soon as I see it.
21. Judo - Don't understand the rules, apart from body slam them to the floor FTW
22. Rowing - A sport the UK has generally been dominent at. However, its generally viewed as elitist because of the Oxford/Cambridge image it has. Its still an exciting sport to watch.
23. Sailing - Much the same as rowing, apart from its too drawn out. Don't usually watch it till the final races.
24. Shooting - Never gets much coverage. Has the same problems as archery
25. Synchronised Swimming - Never watch it, apart from the Russian routines
26. Table Tennis - I really enjoy playing it, but I wish the rallies were a bit longer. 10-15 years ago this sport was a joke to watch. Until they banned a lot of dodgy practices like speed glue; shielding ball on serve and applying spin on ball before serving.
27. Taekwando - I prefer this to judo as it has rules I can understand. Theres always a guilty pleasure in seeing someone getting kicked in the head.
28. Tennis - This shouldn't be an olympic sport. Only justified because its at Wimbledon this year.
29. Triathlon - Like a watered down version of Iron Man.
30. Volleyball - Now this is actually a respectable sport. Way better than the beach ball version.
31. Water Polo - Don't watch till the medal matches.
32. Weightlifting - Always enjoy watching it, espeacially the 105+kg class. Wish they would televise more of it.
33. Wrestling - Never seen it so can't comment.
