The Nicovideo rankings are full of new stuff I've never seen before, as usual. It is sad that the majority of japanese TASes never find their way here.

I am rather disappointed that MrGrunz MM TAS didn't even make top50

We don't know that yet! 10 more to go. Also, I'm sad a Japanese FF8 Omega battle was in the top 50, but no sign of my FF8 run. I'm sure it isn't a top ten run.

Is RTA the term that's used for unassisted speedruns over there?

Nah, it wont be there. Using their formula, it only has 86915 points (part 1). Lucky #13 for my MM10. But it looks like they tried their best to showcase one of the most un-entertaining parts of the TAS :(

RTA stands for real time attack. It's essentially unassisted single segment speed runs, with resets allowed.

Here's part 3 for those who can't wait for MUGG to update his post: Account: www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm16554275 Free: http://nicoplayer.blog60.fc2.com/?id=sm16554275&w=640&h=480 (I had seen this part before I made my previous post)

Here is the list of games (in spoiler tags) which correspond to the videos in the TAS Nicovideo 2011 Ranking. Those with known runs to movies on this site have links. Because the ranking is based on Nicovideo videos and not TASes or the games themselves, many videos have confusing titles that fail to indicate which game is run. I put question marks (?) on a few of them because I don't know. Also, there are multiple listings of the same game; those have different videos, and do not always correspond to TASVideos movies on the same game. A couple of entries correspond to recent TASVideos submission that have not been judged or published yet; those have the "*recent*" tag on them. If there are any mistakes in the list, let me know. 50-31 50: King of Fighters 2000 49: Brain Age 2 (link) 48: Legend of Zelda Palace of Four Swords (GBA) (link) 47: Custom Robo V2 46: GoldenEye 007 (link) 45: Dragon Quest V (PS2) 44: Super Bomberman (link) 43: Crash Bandicoot 2 (100%) 42: Earthbound *recent* (link) 41: Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha 40: Super Smash Bros. I remember someone on IRC saying I should write how to upload to Nicovideo. I've been busy, but I haven't forgotten. I've just created a page about Nicovideo on this wiki: http://tasvideos.org/Nicovideo.html To whoever suggested it: Sorry for not remembering who you were, but thank you.

Awesome work on the wiki page!
Usually, the uploader is nice enough to include the name of the game in the title, but sometimes, the uploader won't even do that.
It may be possible to retrieve the game name from the tags (you know, anyone can add tags to any video).
If you just want to see a list of recent TASes uploaded there, just enter "TAS" in the search bar and click 検索 (search).
As of middle/late 2011, I'm pretty sure you need a premium account in order to see videos listed by their uploading date - which is quite a bother and makes finding videos very hard. I'm pretty sure I already missed quite a few videos I would have been interested in seeing... I can list videos by their most recent comments though, which is the next best replacement.

I don't have a premium account, and I can find them sorted by upload date without a problem. Just above the video listings after you search, there's a dropdown with all the different sort options. The 投稿日時が新しい順 option (4th from bottom) lets you view the most recent upload first. Alternatively, just use this: http://www.nicovideo.jp/tag/TAS?sort=f

Great job on the new page! I didn't know about the free account bitrate cap before; I wondered why most Nicovideo encodes were of such poor quality.

July 2012 TAS Ranking: Link to video The entry barrier for 30th place for June 2012 was over 25K. This time it was less than 20K. This is a far cry from the 40K+ barriers earlier this year. I suppose the time of year has something to do with it. Also, #27 is a joke. It didn't even last 8 seconds on the video.

I have no idea about #5. #4 is a racing game, with out using the accelerator.

It is insanely difficult to machine translate well between Japanese and English. It's so bad that it's considered good form to send the original text, the machine translated text, and the translator link used when trying to communicate with japanese people. This gives them the best chance of working out what you were trying to say to them. :) Many Japanese are willing to give permission, but they wish to be asked. do not just blindly upload to youtube. While giving credit is good, they want to be respected.
