WIP currently at 31 stars now. We will probably quickly get 34-35 stars, then HMC 100 coins will have to be done.
Wow! That's really quick. ^^

10 stars in 35 hours is really fast progress! Great to hear, mkdasher. Can't wait for it to be finished.

Yes, finally we can see new version of Mario's madness! Can't wait for it, either!

Update: Hazy Maze Cave is done! We have 43 stars now. Moving on to Shifting Sand Land. Again, all stars here are hexable apart from 100 coins. When the 100 coins star will be done, we'll have 50 stars.

How are we supposed to find the latest WIP on nico nico? I have an account, joined the group Nahoc mentioned and searched for 【WIP】スーパーマリオ64 120枚TAS (the title of the video BKDJ posted) but nothing came up :/ And navigating that damn site is too confusing, even with google translate (some of the pages won't translate anyway). Wouldn't it be better if someone that was part of the project just transferred all the videos to youtube? Not to be all whiny and "first-world problems", but it doesn't seem like too much to ask. All you need is a firefox plugin to download the video and then re-upload to youtube, and that's if you don't have access to the raw video file.

I don't think we'll upload a WIP until the TAS is done.

Update: Shifting Sand Land is done, moving on to Lethal Lava Land. We used over 36k re-records on just SSL100 alone. Pretty funny considering Rikku used 63k re-records on his complete 120 stars TAS. To say the least, it's pretty optimized! ;D We now have 50 stars. Most LLL stars are done and will be hexed. I just got 7"40 on Red-Hot Log Rolling. Though, LLL100 will need to be re-done (and will probably be paired with Bully the Bullies, not sure yet). The main .m64 says ~440k re-records for now, but I think it should be hexed to about 500k considering some extra side work. What will be the final re-records count? 2 millions? What will be the final time? 1:30? 1:29? Bets start now! Anyway, I hope you guys are eager to see the run! It looks great and will finally be done. Get hype! ;D

I'm excited that this run is finally being done! Before a few weeks ago, we just kept hearing "it'll never get done, they'll never start making the run until every single star is completely optimized". We must be near that point now, and that's amazing. This TAS will be the culmination of 7 years of work on this game! Definitely a movie that will be worthy of a star.

....Wow? Infact, how does anyone use so few rerecords in a 100% TAS of a 3d game anyway? Well, it's certainly nice to know you guys are half way there! I wonder how long the list of co-authors is going to be?

Those are amazing news! I've been waiting for this TAS since a really long time, and I was starting to think as CoolKirby said. You guys should be really really proud of what you've done, this TAS will be the most optimized of all time! I bet 1:25 for the final time =D

I bet 1:27 for the final time, with around 1.5 millions of rerecords XD Amazing work, btw!

Well, as I expected Lethal Lava Land wont be an easy course. Luck manipulation is harder due to the bridge, which is used in almost every star. If we get unlucky, this course will be one of the courses that will need more time for its completion. Maybe if its not possible to hexedit everything, we will have to make more than 1 star. Also, I will not have the free time I wanted since tomorrow, so Ill probably spend less time for TASing than what I did last weeks, however I will try to do my best to help on this project and do stuff on it, since I really want this TAS to be finished.

The best luck for you guys, the hype is over the top for me! mkdasher, are there any other levels that can be kind of troublesome like LLL?

There will be levels that probably will have more things to redo, but I think LLL is the hardest in terms of hexediting.

And we delay the run again. Still, bad ass trick.
